In my opinon, it's worth setting up some early spronks even though they're not great. You can make some neat designs with them and you will feel more accomplished when you upgrade to better spronks than if you had just immediately gone for quality

You still want to buy some Parsnips to start, getting Level 1 Farming ASAP is important
After the Parsnips come in on Day 5, I usually try to plant a bunch of potatoes since they're good money and will grow in time for the Egg Festival on the 13th. Then of course you want as many Strawberry seeds as you can afford.
It's also not a bad idea to get a Cauliflower and Green Bean planted on Day 1 so you can complete the Spring Crops bundle ASAP, but make sure you don't plant more than 15 crops total before you get a scarecrow up or else crows will start eating them.
Your chicks will grow up and start producing eggs pretty quickly, it's your call if you want to sell them raw or hold onto them until you can make a Mayonnaise Machine to process them. Chickens are good consistent money, and they only cost 800g from Marnie. I would buy two more to fill out the coop as soon as you have the cash to spare, they'll pay for themselves in no time.

i know there's totems and stuff that can warp you to statues because i've gotten a few from mystery boxes so hopefully i'll just get used to it, i also kind of wish the people would show up on the map but i understand this is a thing for these types of games where they want you to learn the schedules of the characters and stuff

It helps if you only focus on a few people at a time, and make it a long term project to befriend everybody. It'll take time to get access to the best gifts anyway. You need a kitchen at the bare minimum to really accelerate gift giving because so many ideal gifts are cooked dishes.
To that end, it's a good idea to stash some of your crops in a chest in your house until you get a refrigerator (comes with the kitchen after buying the first house upgrade). Just a little bit of everything, every season, so you can cook all the recipes you know. Food is useful beyond gifting, you'll wind up relying on certain dishes for mining or fishing in the future, for the stat buffs they grant. Plus healing and energy restores.

The wiki explains how they work, but basically you want them surrounded by a bunch of trees. More trees will increase the odds they produce more mushrooms, and different kinds will add different mushrooms to the table of their possible product. Having more trees and those trees being covered in moss will tend to increase the quality of the product.

1 seems like the obvious choice, but, honestly, 2 is a lot better. It feels more free. Its also in a nice corner, so you can view them when you go south to the forest, which you will do often. You won't go up north to the mines much once you unlock the minecart.

I have known STEM guys who are like him. At first you think they're just insecure and have to constantly prove how smart they are by using needlessly complicated diction and overexplaining everything, but then you eventually realize they're just severely autistic.
My last playthrough was about 3 years ago and I downloaded probably 30-40 mods. Most are likely out of date now and I simply don't have the patience to go through and do all that again. But I don't think I can go back to vanilla, there were too many cool things and QoL upgrades.
Just get NPCMapLocations. Nothing else is really needed for QoL now.

Plant a little bit of everything every season, and save like 2-3 of everything. You'll be tempted to sell all your harvest for cash, but try to hold onto stuff til you better understand long-term objectives that get revealed to you over the course of the first in-game week. There are periodic requests from villagers who often want you to bring stuff to them, it can be stuff you find in the mines, or fishing, or grown on your farm, so keeping chests full of stuff is to your benefit.
You might think you have a ton of stone and wood, but you don't. It disappears very fast once you start crafting items and building new structures for your farm. Always be saving construction supplies.
Don't stress too much about trying to maximize your time, there's no hard locks on content and you can do everything eventually. Focus on what you like, the once you get comfortable, explore other stuff.
Watch TV every morning to see what tomorrow's weather will be. A rainy forecast means you don't have to water plants the next day, which is a HUGE time saver in the early game that allows you to save a lot of energy for other tasks. Also always watch Queen of Sauce when it's on TV, you learn new recipes from it for free, which is useful for when you eventually have a kitchen.

Really? It's one of the easiest ways to get consumables for mine / cavern runs, plus many loved gifts are easily obtained recipes that use common ingredients from your farm. It makes finishing off the heart meter for some townspeople a lot easier because that easily cooked dish might be the cheapest loved gift option for some of them.
Befriend caroline and emily quickly. Emily gives an annoying item to get for the bundle (cloth) and caroline gives tea bush recipe which is a nice way to boost speed early. In my opinon, it's worth setting up some early spronks even though they're not great. You can make some neat designs with them and you will feel more accomplished when you upgrade to better spronks than if you had just immediately gone for quality

Well since I don't start with parsnips, do you guys have a recommendation on what to focus on growing for spring? I wanna get cows and sheit. I barely touched ranching on my last playthrough because it seemed like total shit back then.
Pace yourself with the ranching. Get coop then a barn then upgrade each one one a time. Early on you'll be feeding each day so get a silo first.

You still want to buy some Parsnips to start, getting Level 1 Farming ASAP is important
After the Parsnips come in on Day 5, I usually try to plant a bunch of potatoes since they're good money and will grow in time for the Egg Festival on the 13th. Then of course you want as many Strawberry seeds as you can afford.
It's also not a bad idea to get a Cauliflower and Green Bean planted on Day 1 so you can complete the Spring Crops bundle ASAP, but make sure you don't plant more than 15 crops total before you get a scarecrow up or else crows will start eating them.
Your chicks will grow up and start producing eggs pretty quickly, it's your call if you want to sell them raw or hold onto them until you can make a Mayonnaise Machine to process them. Chickens are good consistent money, and they only cost 800g from Marnie. I would buy two more to fill out the coop as soon as you have the cash to spare, they'll pay for themselves in no time.

haha that's fair. Good that you're enjoying it. You can buy a book that permanently increases your movespeed from the book seller, its a bit pricey though. Food like coffee can temporarily buff it, and a horse is always useful.
i know there's totems and stuff that can warp you to statues because i've gotten a few from mystery boxes so hopefully i'll just get used to it, i also kind of wish the people would show up on the map but i understand this is a thing for these types of games where they want you to learn the schedules of the characters and stuff

It helps if you only focus on a few people at a time, and make it a long term project to befriend everybody. It'll take time to get access to the best gifts anyway. You need a kitchen at the bare minimum to really accelerate gift giving because so many ideal gifts are cooked dishes.
To that end, it's a good idea to stash some of your crops in a chest in your house until you get a refrigerator (comes with the kitchen after buying the first house upgrade). Just a little bit of everything, every season, so you can cook all the recipes you know. Food is useful beyond gifting, you'll wind up relying on certain dishes for mining or fishing in the future, for the stat buffs they grant. Plus healing and energy restores.
Also its fun to take a full farm screenshot at the end of every season, just to see your progress.
Some consumables can buff your speed, like coffee. Also the latest update added books which permanently increase your speed. Save up for those.

Once you upgrade your axe you can start getting hardwood from the big stumps and logs, and if you save up 100 you can have a Stable built to get a horse which you can ride to get around much faster
Completing the Boiler Room bundles in the Community Center will unlock the Minecarts, which gives you some fast travel options
Eventually you'll have enough income to buy Coffee in bulk from the Saloon and keep your speed up forever
The Bookseller also sells books that permanent buff your movespeed, but they're pretty expensive and the effect isn't that huge on its own so I'd hold off on that until you have the cash to spare

Those are just one of the options for the Quality Crops Bundle, you only need three of the four. Getting the Melons, Pumpkins and Corn is a lot easier because you'll have a higher Farming level by then. Make sure to put some Basic Fertilizer down, it's very cheap to craft and gives you about twice as many high-quality crops.

The wiki explains how they work, but basically you want them surrounded by a bunch of trees. More trees will increase the odds they produce more mushrooms, and different kinds will add different mushrooms to the table of their possible product. Having more trees and those trees being covered in moss will tend to increase the quality of the product.

1 seems like the obvious choice, but, honestly, 2 is a lot better. It feels more free. Its also in a nice corner, so you can view them when you go south to the forest, which you will do often. You won't go up north to the mines much once you unlock the minecart.

My last playthrough was about 3 years ago and I downloaded probably 30-40 mods. Most are likely out of date now and I simply don't have the patience to go through and do all that again. But I don't think I can go back to vanilla, there were too many cool things and QoL upgrades.

1.6 integrated some stuff from QoL mods into the base game, like ways to see the sell price of all your items or see what fish is on the hook before you catch it, even ways to permanently increase your movespeed

Emily puts on a clothing "therapy" type thing, which probably doesn't work, but the gesture is nice, and has a boardquest where she tries to connect with the other ladies in the town by showing them her autismo rock collection. Haley's 14 heart event is about raising money to buy books for Penny so she can teach the kids better. They're also very sentimental.
Haley cared alot about her grandmother's bracelet. She's rich, she could just buy a new one, but she gets pissed at the farmer who suggests that, because she has a heart

It's interesting to write characters that are flawed and weird. How many beefy godlike blacksmith characters have you seen in games? That's the most cliche shit you could do with a blacksmith. Technically yes. It's got some value in the code that makes it more active and whatnot than the usual fish, meaning it's harder to catch than the common fish like carp and sunfish. ACTUAL difficulty though? Not really.

Befriend Haley. Romance Haley. Marry Haley. Impregnate Haley.
Just play the game naturally and enjoy yourself. Don't try to min-max or follow guides or whatever. There's only one loose "timer" and it can be extended indefinitely if you so choose
This isn't a min/max game. Take your time doing whatever the frick you want. There are no time limits.

Plant a little bit of everything every season, and save like 2-3 of everything. You'll be tempted to sell all your harvest for cash, but try to hold onto stuff til you better understand long-term objectives that get revealed to you over the course of the first in-game week. There are periodic requests from villagers who often want you to bring stuff to them, it can be stuff you find in the mines, or fishing, or grown on your farm, so keeping chests full of stuff is to your benefit.
You might think you have a ton of stone and wood, but you don't. It disappears very fast once you start crafting items and building new structures for your farm. Always be saving construction supplies.
Don't stress too much about trying to maximize your time, there's no hard locks on content and you can do everything eventually. Focus on what you like, the once you get comfortable, explore other stuff.
Keep an eye on the weather forecast and backup your save when shit hits the fan

Any spare time in the day should be spent either gathering wood, fishing, or mining in the dungeon.

Watch TV every morning to see what tomorrow's weather will be. A rainy forecast means you don't have to water plants the next day, which is a HUGE time saver in the early game that allows you to save a lot of energy for other tasks. Also always watch Queen of Sauce when it's on TV, you learn new recipes from it for free, which is useful for when you eventually have a kitchen.

Really? It's one of the easiest ways to get consumables for mine / cavern runs, plus many loved gifts are easily obtained recipes that use common ingredients from your farm. It makes finishing off the heart meter for some townspeople a lot easier because that easily cooked dish might be the cheapest loved gift option for some of them.
Befriend caroline and emily quickly. Emily gives an annoying item to get for the bundle (cloth) and caroline gives tea bush recipe which is a nice way to boost speed early. Check the area south of the farm every friday and sunday sfor a meechant. Other than that dont stress too much and dont expect to finish the community bundle year one. Just take it slow
