You play as Marcus and Anya’s (Anya died between 3 and 4) son JD with his ragtag group of safe nerdy black guy and bland girl in a weird commune outside of the COG until somehow the locusts come back. You go get Marcus who is a grumpy old man living alone in a run down mansion by himself. The rest of the game is just looking for the bland girls mom and the high point is when Cole, Baird, and Sam to inject some personality before fricking off again and leaving you with the dipshits. 5 makes you play as the bland girl since she’s the granddaughter of the Locust Queen and that’s why they took her mom in 4 and turned her into the new one I don’t know any specifics outside of that because I didn’t play 5.
It would have made more sense to me if instead of killing JD or Turk in Gears 5, they instead made Kait become the new locust queen. Because as it stands now, the story is just gears 2 again.
Also I’m hoping, praying, wishing, they’ll make this one 3 player local co-op on a single console because they managed to do it in a DLC for 5 but somehow not the main game?!?
Also they need to redesign deebee weapons and ditch the open world design. Open level design would work better.

Gears 4 was literally them just finding out that the Locust are back, and in 5 it was about Kait discovering herself or some shit, i guess they kill a giant monster at the end and uhhhhhh, in comparison to the other games
