default
Modern first person games I nudge the gamma up a notch or two. Everything else default.
i make everything darker
holy frick why is everything so bright
frick the sun
frick lightbulbs
I have something wrong with my lg 2k 144hz monitor where everything is a bit darker and I can't see shit in caves, so I play on higher gamma
anyanon knows how to problem solve it? inb4 contrast and brightness settings duh
Monitor model? Could be the panel technology
thanks anons will investigate further with these
its lg 27gn800-b, not using hdr ofc
According to rtings this model has some contrast issues, but that should be the opposite of what you're seeing
Have you fiddled with the monitor gamma settings already? Usually LG screens have at least three modes you can check, or you can calibrate through Windows itself
And good call not enabling HDR, without even considering the fact it's an IPS the screen barely reaches 350 nits
Unsure if it can help, but on my previous monitor, an LG 27UP850 which I'm now using as a side screen, I have my brightness set at 60, contrast 60 and gamma Mode 1
There's probably a color balance setting wrong, but good luck finding it nested ten layers down in the kind of shitshow menu system monitors usually have.
Make your gamma even brighter. you can do it on windows idk about linux
If your other monitor is connected via HDMI to an nVidia card then your darker monitor is actually fine.
it actually is, this lg monitor is the main one under DP, interesting
fiddled with the basic settings just a bit, not an expert in this field, will experiment with these gamma modes
Usually a bit brighter than recommended because not being able to see properly gets really tedious
I mostly use middling/default brightness with slight adjustments, whatever gives me the most intended image contrast for the game
When I see artifacts on dark areas then I know my settings are good.
monitor on absolute lowest it can go
lights on in the room
just enough brightness that you can see in fairly dark areas without trouble
Max brightness and digital vibrance turned up to 100%
I wonder why my eyesight is getting worse
Usually max brightness unless the game has sensible flashlights or illumination is simply not moronic and total darkness where you don't see squat is not abused
>dude le pitch black is so fricking cinematic lmao
Miss me with that gay shit and frick modern devs.
Two clicks lower than default by default.
Unless it's hdr because that stuff makes no sense and the test images are useless. So just configure it in system settings and hope the game can figure it out by default.
>Unless it's hdr
Sadly that's on a game-to-game basis, some have an in-game calibration that works properly, other are completely random. And that's ignoring the fact that unless you have an OLED (or arguably a mini led) screen HDR makes no sense and results in worse colors
I do the suggested calibration. As soon as I have troubles seeing the actual environment I crack it up because frick moods and intentions if you can't see the game.
How the frick do those "move the slider until the image is barely visible" sliders work?
I'll do what it says and it'll basically be invisible.
why did it take nearly 20 years for dark mode to become the default theme?
only zoomers were dumb enough to crank their brightness over 200 nit
>not wanting whites so bright they literally burn your eyes
lol, lmao even
If the game's default brightness setting is in the middle, I usually go a little higher, like 60%.
Minecraft, full brightness, frick being blind 5 steps away from a torch in a tunnel.
If you aren't required to adjust brightness before starting a game, I usually just leave it unless it's ever noticeably an issue (again, like Minecraft)
Default. Turning brightness up is cheating fyi. Fix your eyes
>asus tuf VG27Q1A (1080p 165hz ips)
give it to me straight bros, did i frick up?
>1080p
Unless you bought it 10 years ago yes, you fricked up
I bought it today lmao
I might get a 1440p monitor someday because i got a 4070. I was gonna get a 3060ti but i found the 4070 for the same price as the older xx60s
Usually the recommended setting.
Low at night. Brightest during the day
I always go dark. Brightness give me migraines. LCD displays were a mistake.
