Those highly detailed Pokémon models next to some chibi MC will never not look moronic. Would it have been really too much work to make chibi-ish models for Pokémon in the overworld?
If modders are anything to go by they would have been better off doing a more faithful art style.
The irony of BDSP's overworld is that it tries to pass itself off as faithful to the resolution of DP while completely ignoring how it looked and felt on the hardware. They really would have been better off just using the same battle models they made everywhere.

had all the bugs from the original dp (implying they just copypasted the code or something) release on top of new broken shit, i cant remember what exactly though since its been so long and no one gives a shit about the game. my memories are getting mixed with sv's release
also while not explicitly buggy, the following pokemon never functioned right, there were webms of npcs just pushing them around
There were at least two major softlocks that could be experienced through normal play. Hilariously you could end up stuck forever if you had autosave turned on, which is one of the few new 'features' the remakes introduced

they wouldn't have been able to crank the game out as fast as they did
they did have those toy-like models from rumble
which would’ve made the game even uglier
