I remember that they talked about making a game about aliens kidnaping animals and them an army of hamster were supposed to fight them or something like this.
That actually seemed to be pretty fun, I wish that they truly had done that.
The equally early-development ZeroSpace looked a lot less hideous and more like an actual playable and potentially fun RTS. I might have some bias though becasue like this anon I do kinda fricking hate WC3 as an RTS and Stormgate does seem to share more DNA with that than SC2, which is what ZeroSpace seems closer to.
Reminder that the studio founder of Stormgate was the producer of C&C Generals 2. If there was ever a product to hide and scrub from your resume, that would be it but instead he shows it off proudly. I'll call that alone a solid red flag.
Remember what they took from us. Don't let the same man do it again.
Zerospace also has creeps and heroes. They think this is the key to get casuals but casuals will ignore the game as usual and we will be left with a bad RTS.
It has capture points with a trivial amount of neutral creeps that are only relevant for the first minute of the game, after which it's your enemy that's guarding them. It doesn't have tough camps scattered all over the map. The heroes aren't dominant like WC3 ones...
Shit games don't deserve popularity for rushing out first or nepotism and shilling so I'm glad we're getting this wave of several at once so they'll properly be compared to each other. There's plenty of design space in the RTS genre to attract all kinds of preferences, and the variety lets people that are bitter about minor mechanics to frick off to other ones and be happy there. SC's cancerous fans will always threadshit everywhere though.
>so I'm glad we're getting this wave of several at once so they'll properly be compared to each other. There's plenty of design space in the RTS genre to attract all kinds of preferences
Which game is the no creeps preference?
They are throwing a bunch of money into advertising it with big events and shit and they still can't keep a minimal audience, there's not a single person hyped for this game, even the RTS people that only live in that world only care about it at a "oh this is happening right now I guess, I need to be part of the conversation" level, it's quite sad to see
>ex blizzard employees >literally copy paste the art of their previous game for everything and make it an RTS
I sincerely don't like how soulless the gaming companies are these days.
You could do it in reverse in Command & Conquer. Big robutts would leave behind a wreck that you could then salvage with an engineer reviving the unit.
But nah, let's just have flat damage vs flat health result in flat death.
>soulless
the thing is target of stormgate is the multiplayer competitive gays only and those morons don't really care about whether the factions are mechanically/aesthethically unique or anything about art design/world building etc, in other words, they dont care about "soul". all they want is a elite RTS fight club to sweat it out with other sweatlords.
>sci-fi units >fighting jungle camps in wc3/ASShomosexualS style
What were they thinking ? How does this make sense ?
It totally ruins the RTS sci-fi part. >my army of mechs is running around the forest looking for jungle demons to shoot at for cash and loot
What the frick ? Has the MOBA/ASShomosexualS genre rotted their brains ?
It makes sense in WC3, but it is moronic in a sci-fi setting.
Noone is hyped for it, it may be fotm, but most likely won't, some rts players will try it out.
I can't.
I think people want to see a delicious disaster.
I remember that they talked about making a game about aliens kidnaping animals and them an army of hamster were supposed to fight them or something like this.
That actually seemed to be pretty fun, I wish that they truly had done that.
That's how desperate RTS fans are.
Not sure why every new rts copies wc3 when 1v1 in wc3 sucked. Stop with the fricking creeps.
What's wrong with creeps?
consolegays who cant micro and wanna pretend to play "RTS" (moba)
>1v1 in wc3 sucked
What's wrong with it?
Shit taste
ok chang

Reminder that this game is shilled so hard because devs are friends or family of most SC2 ecelebs
Because I want more of SC2 coop and blizzard has declared their game to be on life support.
They are throwing a bunch of money into advertising it with big events and shit and they still can't keep a minimal audience, there's not a single person hyped for this game, even the RTS people that only live in that world only care about it at a "oh this is happening right now I guess, I need to be part of the conversation" level, it's quite sad to see
It's good because it's a breath of fresh air from SC2 but frick the art direction seriously what are they thinking
>ex blizzard employees
>literally copy paste the art of their previous game for everything and make it an RTS

Man I wish they'd copy it in full.
Could've had a neat mechanic with recovering the pilot.
>neat mechanic with recovering the pilot
I've seen that done in Iron Marines as a researchable upgrade. It was useful.
You could do it in reverse in Command & Conquer. Big robutts would leave behind a wreck that you could then salvage with an engineer reviving the unit.
But nah, let's just have flat damage vs flat health result in flat death.
Restoring wrecks has been done in various games already. Keeping fragile pilots alive until their mechs respawn is a bit different.
In generals elite pilots would drop out of parachutes and you can bring them back to base, to make a standard plane elite.
medics that retrieve downed units for an MP boost are a thing in company of heroes, as are recoverable wrecks and salvaging.
here's your overwa-i mean stormgate character design bro.
legit looks like it was AI generated.
Why does he have long painted fingernails
How gay is this slop?
it's californian, so pretty gay
Is there a term for this kind of setting? Soulless slop doesn't do it justice, there's something really tedious and boring about it.
>soulless

that game exists already, it's called brood war.
stormgate is simplified bulbous chungus deathball dogshit by comparison.
>brood war.
>soulless

zerospace is also another one of these games.
>sci-fi units
>fighting jungle camps in wc3/ASShomosexualS style

Tempest Rising is the only decent thing coming out.
Stormgate is sc2 bait for the twitch crowds.
