Buy from their store, tell people about it and why it's good, and educate any misinformed pirates or naysayers that don't know what they are talking about. Also might be helpful to report pirate sites to the site hosts etc.

It would help if GOG would put some effort into accepting games though.
There's a couple of games that I really wanted a GOG copy, the developers said they contacted GOG about it but either they get a reply saying "it's not a good fit for GOG" or just ignored completely.
Sadly, bigger AAA games tend not to release DRM versions since the publishers are too worried about piracy, hence why Denuvo is such a pain in the arse at the moment.

          Is it a porn game?

          Not a porn game.
          One of the games was 'Filcher' - a thief-like game with a 1930's art-deco art-style.

The game is a bit basic, but I find it crazy how it didn't get accepted, yet actual shovelware & WEGs do.

Well they seem to really enjoy collaberating with Amazon, first with free game offers on prime and now with the new Luna partnership. So maybe Amazon would be willing to invest in GOG more in the future?

I love the idea, but the reality doesn't tend to match up.
For modern games, the GOG version is generally missing features compared to the Steam version and gets patches later, if ever. You also obviously miss out on Steam platform features (steam input etc) but this isn't reflected in the price. You pay the same or more, and get less.
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/239350/Spelunky/
    https://www.gog.com/en/game/spelunky
The GOG version of Spleunky costs slightly more than the Steam one, and yet:
    >Content notice: The Daily Challenge is not included in the DRM Free version.
    >PCGW: The Steam version received a v1.47 update that added languages, a fullscreen borderless mode, and bugfixes. The GOG version has not received this patch.
    >with Steam Input I can play with a bluetooth ps4 pad, not possible with the gog build except maybe with third party tools

So if it's no good for modern games, at least it must be a better choice for old ones, right? That was its original name, after all. Good old games, fixed up to run optimally on modern systems.
Well, yes and no. The GOG versions are usually decent, but they're virtually never the very best way to play. Think of any old PC game on GOG and check PCGW. You'll almost certainly find a long list of suggested community fixes which apply to both Steam and GOG. So you have some work to do either way.

You can add it as a non-steam game and use steam input just fine.

Just fricking buy the old games you want to play instead of pirating them, they're usually really cheap even poorgays should be able to spare a couple of bucks to play Arx Fatalis or whatever

I am not responsible for the sucsess or failure of a given store. I always buy the games I want if they have them on GOG (every other competitor is secondary to me) and I recommend other people do so if it comes up naturally in conversation.
I am not paid to advertise for them nor to spread good word on their behalf. As long as their product satisfies me I will keep coming back and will talk positively about them when it is natural to do so.

If I could recommend one move it would be to focus more on acquiring more games. The biggest problem GOG has, in my eyes, is that I often have to fall back to their competitors because they simply don't have what I want. If they can remedy that I think it would boost their sales and their customers confidence.

The biggest problem with gog is the devs. They update their steam builds and never bother with gog. I don't know how to resolve this. Maybe a financial incentive like gog taking a slightly smaller cut if they sign a contract that they will update their gog version on the same day they update their steam version.
