As probably the only person on this board who's played all 3 of YKW's 3DS entries the Sun and Moon "ripoff" examples are tenuous at absolute best. RotomDex acts absolutely nothing like Whisper in either function or narrative and acting like the dances of Z-Moves are entirely owed to the fricking credits scenes of the anime is a level of astounding moronation I can hardly even fathom.
Gen VII's entire tone was chosen as a way to 1-up YW's popularity in Japan. Hawaii was picked as a region because it's the japanese audience's favorite travel spot, more quirky objectmon/yokaimon were introduced to combat YW's culturally recognizable marketability, you travel between realms during late-game and post-game just like in YW. The oneupmanship is palpable, you can't ignore the influence.
Does this mean gen 10 will involve Pokemon getting in fistfights with trainers and shooting at them with assault rifles?

But have you seen the guys previous works? It's all asset flip content. Unless this got picked up by a big company or gets big enough to get sequels I don't expect the designs to change up much.
