on 4 lakes in particular i dont push deer because scouting is much more important, also deer most of the time spawns next to the berries
on arabia you are pretty much screwed, pushing at least 1-2 deer is a must if you wanna get past 1400
If you don't push deer, you have to compensate with adept farm eco management and some kind of wood bonus or horse collar discount.

how come your opponent has more res collected even though he has 17 less workers and more idle eco time? huns don't even have an eco bonus.
My guess is that he idled his TC to get decent castle time while pressuring during dark/feudal, and lost a few forward vills during a push. Anon didn't defend his berries/gold well, and got pushed to make farms in bad positions before his eco was idled. A few failed quickwalls (no houses) led him to make a tower to give him space for an archer counterattack, allowing him to boom, which was shut down by knight/siege.
Full feudal scouts, no second barracks, your tower protects the gold mostly. You can make a few spearmen but don't upgrade them, leave them on the wood/gold so you can get damage on the knights. Pick off scorpions with the scouts, they are the most dangerous thing in his comp right now. Send your scouts to his base and hit the gold, killing 5 villagers is like 20% of his economy. Get up to castle age with a healthy economy so you can boom and spam knights at him.
I still can't play de yet and this is how far away your sheep can spawn in hd lmeow

I had an itch to play AoE2 and remembered I had it on Steam from way back.
First thing I noticed the banner is greyed out, but the game installs fine. But when I launched it it wouldn't let me play the Expansions saying I'll have to buy the DLC for that (which redirects you to nonexistent Steam page), even though I remember the HD Steam version came with Conquest included, even the game icon is the one from Conquest. Multiplayer is dead of course and I don't think it's because nobody is playing on this version, they just killed the servers I assume.
I'm not buying the Definitive Edition. Buying the same fricking game twice or even third time (since I had AoE2 and Conquest on physical CDs) is moronic. Frick you Microsoft Black folk.

There is no big civil war in RTS (and especially not in AoE) between people that play the singleplayer, mods/customs, skirmish, casual online matches, ranked ladder or the competitive tournaments. All of these things coexist just fine. I personally play online casual matches, custom campaigns and watch Ornlu on youtube play other ones and never had an issue with the other stuff like ranked ladder existing.
The turnbased gays see the wealth of different things you can do in this game as well as in Starcraft. They see that they are alive and doing well and then they look at their boring game that only has on campaign they play every year. That nobody ever made mods for and they get irrationally upset. They lash out at AoE, Starcraft and even Command and Conquer. They create threads like this pretending they were ever interested in even playing the campaigns in any RTS.
