How come I never see this gamemode discussed?
Black Tower/White Treehollow are a fun facility, very similar to Mt. Battle from the Gamecube games but with a puzzle aspect of avoiding trainers and slowly figuring out who holds the gate key per floor. It's a lot of fun, even if it's not locked levels.
Plus you get a free shiny pseudo so you'd think people would talk about that more.

because it's designed for offline players to get nothing, in typical gen v fashion

because it's shit. should have made it into a facility

i mean, it basically is a facility. you get a medal for completing it and everything. it's got its own unique way of handling difficulty where you have 10 areas that you can redo whenever instead of one massive streak, and difficulty is tied to you planning out which pokemon to use on goons vs the boss.
its like a more streamlined and less ball busting battle pyramid.

      >it's bad because it's not arbitrarily placed inside a dedicated facility area
This is your brain on gen 3.

I liked it a lot, it was nice to have a battle facility (if you can even call it that) that retain levels and exp.
It was like a replayable gym or dungeon.
I wish it had become a recurring thing.

It’s a cool area, but no level cap makes it easier to finish than something like the Battle Towers.

because it’s just the battle pyramid but drastically worse and watered down for campaignshitters to beat.

battle pyramid is easily the most unbalanced and most RNG centric frontier area by a long shot, and thats saying something considering one of the areas is literally "go into random room and a thing happens."
theres a reason it was so shit it didnt reappear in gen 4's tower.

I used Tyranitar/Latias/Forretress to beat the BF. I’m sorry your IQ is too low to think of different teams, anon. Why don’t you go back to restarting Platinum so you can clap at how “hard” Cynthia is?

I feel like this part of the game is missable because Black/White City are actually 100% dead locations in B&W1 if you don't use the defunct WFC or local communication which just isn't happening. So I don't see it as out of the picture that a lot of people just didn't go there. It's also a pretty small facility compared to the battle subway.

    You’re talking about a feature in a 10 year-old game.

    >Mt. Battle
Why the FRICK do you people keep referencing this one random spinoff game from 20 years ago that wasn't even that good? Is this all the work of some orregay? Literally WHO would be more aware of a battle facility in a spinoff more than a mainline game? There's no reason for you to even mention it in the OP!

anon, people on /vp/ are not "normies" that only know stuff about the mainline games. Here are reunited autists that know way too much stuff about pokémon, spinoffs included. Why are you surprised?

Keep in mind, keep in mind Mt. Battle is a REQUIRED area for you to visit in both games, and specifically in Colosseum becomes available at the halfway point. Obviously you aren't forced to do the 100 battles since you just need to get to the boss, but the area becomes available after that and acts as the most convenient pokemon center/PC in the entire game. So really all it takes for you to know about Mt. Battle is to have played either Gamecube game up to the point of Mt. Battle appearing.
Now also keep in mind that Mt. Battle has a unique ribbon associated with its completion, so anyone performing the Ribbon Master Challenge would get the Earth Ribbon as one of the earliest ribbons, likely right after the lvl 50 Battle Tower ribbon (or before if the Pokemon isn't even being used for battle).
In comparison, Black Tower/White Treehollow are BW2 exclusive post game areas that are never required for the player to go through, that also require an optional boss fight for you to do just to open the area up. You could've played the whole game, loved it, post about it online, hell you could've even done a sizable chunk of the postgame and still didn't even know this area fricking existed.
You can even compare this to other facilities in BW2 like Pokestar and PWT, where literally everyone at least knows about them because the game requires you to visit them at least once.

I used this place to train up my mons. The few medals associated with it are fun too.

It's not really that remarkable, just like how Mt. Battle isn't really that remarkable.
