Why do people want a new Mother game when Mother 3 was a perfect ending to the series?

Ratchet and Clank is the major exception, mainly due to Insomniac not being able to produce an IP popular enough to replace it.
This is what happened with Ape Escape. There were like 3 spinoffs and a remake between the 2nd and 3rd game.

They do try something new every once in a while, but barely any of them stick. Xenoblade came out 12 years ago and since then the only other IP to be successful is Splatoon. There were also Code Name Steam and Dillon's Rolling Western, the latter practically only being known thanks to Smash.

Probably something to do with Smash. No one would remember Mother if Ness and Lucas weren't playable characters. Even if they were just assists, I think demand for the series to return would be even lower. I mean you even have people saying they should remake Ice Climbers. Meanwhile a lot of those Sony IPs are only used as cameos, like in the new Rachet and Clank.

The fact that the Panzer Dragoon remake plays worse than the original and looks worse than Orta, is telling. The only thing Sega cares about is Phantasy Star Online 2 and the Yakuza series, everything else is just a money laundry scam.
Would it even be possible to revive Ape Escape? Assume Sony gets a leader who really liked the games and believe a 4th one has potential. Japan Studios is gone. Presumably Sony has control of the IP, but who knows what they could or would do with it.
