If pokemon sword and shield where woke, the main antagonist chairman Rose would be white with blonde hair and not obviously based on what the pokemon equivalent of an Indian is.
Also depending on the player, the player can be a white and be a white hero defeating a brown villain.

The games adding more POC isn't necessarily woke. It does feel that way since most things that go woke add POC for the sake of diversity. Pokémon doesn't feel like it's gone woke until they either, A. Make a character that's openly LGBT or B. Make a Nonbinary option for the players.
On a side note I doubt they'll ever have an openly LGBT character since being LGBT is super political in the states and Nintendo avoids that stuff in general. I remember when the Smash Bros games were removing Trans stages and people were freaking out (I was worried they would successfully cancel smash bros) but they stayed firm in saying they don't promote anything political. I'm gay I support the LGBT community but I also hate the need to insert it into things.
