>Expectation: Virtual pet game or RPG
>Reality: Racing or another genre only seen their wackiest spin-offs
They could just add Agumon or something to Smash 6
Pokemon barely does crossovers by principle. Smash probably only gets a pass because nintendo.
There's many "crossovers" like Pokken, Puzzle, MD and Conquest. In that regard there's the Eevee tamagotchi.
There's also the already odd Snow MikuxAlolan Vulpix promotion, and Digimon also had one with the regular Green Miku.
That's the safest way to do it really.
I'm surprised Digimon isn't in Tekken considering companies love crossovers for their video games
TPC is really protective of the brand, that's why you don't see Pokemon in crossovers aside from Smash.
I mean fighting games
Capcom, SNK, even Sega had one on the Saturn
Meant for this God I hate phoneposting
Fricking bullshit
Hello Kitty periodically make crossovers with Pikachu and shit
It is one of the few brand bigger than pokemon
when? ther eis not hello kitty pokemon crosover
>that's why you don't see Pokemon in crossovers aside from Smash
Time to list all the games Pokémon crossed over with in some form or was featured in a multi-franchise game.
>Smash Bros.
>Panel de Pon
>Tetris
>Mystery Dungeon
>Nobunaga's Ambition
>HarmoKnight
>Art Academy
>Tekken
>Nintendo Badge Arcade
>Picross
It's less than a gacha game whoring out collabs left and right, but it's more than just Smash. There's also a lot more when you go to other parts of the franchise like collabing with apparel brands or having pop stars as TCG cards.
You forgot Taiko no Tatsujin
Also forgot the times Pokémon was featured in Splatfests in Splatoon.
Fun fact: Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum n' Fun actually have songs from both Pokemon (Iku Ze) and Digimon (Butter-fly), so the crossover kinda happened already
They don't interact with each other whatsoever tho
You forgot Super Mario Maker, and it feels like they only did that because the Amiibo existed AND it was a Mario anniversary. They don't do that shit for much of anything else, look at the compatibility list.
https://amiibo.life/amiibo/super-smash-bros/pikachu
This just says to me that TPC is in fact strict about this sort of thing.
There's a Tekken character in Re: Digitize isn't there? I think she uses Numemon.
I forgot Amiibo in general and by extension, e-Reader.
>it feels like they only did that because the Amiibo existed
This. It is a shame how Amiibo + Pokémon ended up. We could've had something like what Animal Crossing did, but instead we got Smash Bros. Pokémon out of obligation of Smash making every fighter have one, a promo Shadow Mewtwo card, and a jumbo Detective Pikachu for some reason.
Most of those are "use the other game format with pokemon" rather than a proper crossover and HarmoKnight is made by GF.
If those count then the eevee tamagotchi is a crossover already, but you know that's not what OP means.
> teen-focused moncap game
Which one are you talking about.
>Pokemon's world building works off extreme suspension of belief.
Like most digigays here, you probably have no idea about digimon beyond Adventure if you honestly think this.
>Like most digigays here, you probably have no idea about digimon beyond Adventure if you honestly think this.
You're telling me. They don't even know what the frick a digimon capture device is or that you could use it to enslave digimon against their will.
>you have to do even more stuff for your Digimon than you do for Pokemon such as taking them to the bathroom or it counts as a training failure.
Make an argument homosexual.
>a-a-actually I am withholding key information which invalidates your post but I am not making it and instead will hurr durr
Wrong reply I hope.
I quoted you dumb fricking Black person now stop acting autistic and tell me what piece of hidden lore are you holding.
>Most of those are "use the other game format with pokemon" rather than a proper crossover and HarmoKnight is made by GF.
>If those count then the eevee tamagotchi is a crossover already, but you know that's not what OP means.
The only ones I would consider as a crossover proper besides the obvious Smash Bros. are Conquest and possibly Art Academy.
If you really want to stretch how far it'd take for a collab to be considered a crossover, we could say that Britney Spears has crossed over with Pokémon simply because Soda Pop was in the album for the First Movie despite the song never appearing at all in the movie's dub.
all these series are safe so thats why they collab with them
>tekken
that was not a collab
>TPC is really protective of the brand
They collaborated with chinks, nothing is off the table anymore.
Because The Pokemon Company is INCREDIBLY uptight about crossovers.
It's a miracle they were allowed to be in Smash Bros.
vide
I think this list is a little inflated. To call Pokken Tournament a crossover between Pokemon and Tekken is pretty absurd.
>wtf why won't massively successful series associate with my dogshit zombie series?
Yeah touching nu pokemon would be embarrassing
>"what the frick, why is a small, teen-focused moncap game not collaborating with a larger, child-focused moncap game?"
A mystery the world will never solve, assuming they ignore the fact one is the biggest multimedia IP in the world and the other is ran by bamco.
Pokemon's world building works off extreme suspension of belief. Any character from any other universe will immediately point out how fricked up capturing wild animals and forcing them to fight is. That plus how Pokemon as creatures are in weird spot of kinda being animal replacement in some areas but at the same time not serving as source of meat.
Digimon on other hand can work pretty much anywhere.
Pretty stupid take considering Digimon capture program exists. Hell, you have to do even more stuff for your Digimon than you do for Pokemon such as taking them to the bathroom or it counts as a training failure.
What the frick are you talking about
I could ask you the same thing. It seems like you're completely ignorant of how Digimon works.
>Digimon capture program
You don't fricking capture them you scan the data and create new ones
>you have to do even more stuff for your Digimon than you do for Pokemon such as taking them to the bathroom or it counts as a training failure.
What does this have to do with anything. Explain yourself Black person I am not letting you off the hook
So you know how some people tend to treat Pokemon like their pets and with digimon they don't for some reason despite starting off as a V-pet? Or how about how people made the digimon capture program that's pretty akin to the demon summoning program that can enable to enslave digimon? A lot of things I mentioned shouldn't be new information because it was bought up in the recent games. Hell, I've played them and I liked them.
You keep repeating this capture program shit. Which game is it from.
Its been a thing lore wise since the very beginning. The most recent game it was in is cyber sleuth and hacker's memory and its how you use digimon to fight other digimon and hackers with. Its even more insidious in hacker's memory because they have a literal digimon black market in that game. After completing Cyber sleuth, it gets replaced with Digital Monster which functions the same way as V-Pets.
>Its been a thing lore wise since the very beginning
In entries such as?
>cyber sleuth
You don't capture Digimon you SCAN them and make your own copy
>hacker's memory black market
Which was seen as morally wrong and was only existed because of lack of awareness towards Digimons' sentience.
There is difference between capturing living creatures against their will being presented as morally negative vs entire world of Pokemon pretending that it's fine to trap animals and force them to fight.
Pokemon are clearly shown to possess sapience and free will. Most Pokemon like battling and view it as a sport.
But they fight against their will and its all their trainers make them do if theyre not boxed. You dont have free will when youre captured and your sapience only make you more aware if the situation. You fight other pokemobs anyway, even if you treat them well you hurts other pokemons. Sheit only reasons they say that shit is to not be violent and its a cognitive dissonance to play a game where you capture monsters to battke against other monsters like them and believe their free will is to be submissive to their masters
Anon, people in the game have used the program to to enslave digimon and sell them off in the black market ffs. You can even side with them (not to mention use their services), destroy said market, or remain neutral. Stop ignoring the story because recruiting one of the royal knights hinges on his friends not being enslaved by hackers.
>There is difference between capturing living creatures against their will being presented as morally negative vs entire world of Pokemon pretending that it's fine to trap animals and force them to fight.
Sounds like your headcanon to me.
>Pretty stupid take considering Digimon capture program exists.
In the JRPG Digimon games, you battle Digimon till you have enough data on them to make copies
You're not catching Digimon, you're making your own
Not like it matters, because in the main Digimon stuff, like the anime, and the World titles, and the V-Pets that Digimon originates from, humans normally only get a single (or in rare cases 2) partners, and raise them up
The JRPG games are a special case, to fill the JRPG party quota
So tell me anon, how do you get your first digimon in either game? Because those specifically weren't made from the scanned data and the ones used by hackers come from the digital world with one of the plot points with wormmon to prove to his tamer that he comes from there.
>main Digimon stuff
This IS the main digimon stuff but it doesn't really matter because there's a difference between being a chosen (which is a Digimon manifested from half your soul that has qualities specifically to better their partners and help them grow) or their tamers/hackers which don't originate from any human soul but can be just as easily influenced. Digimon typically inherits the karma of their tamers which is why one of the MC's best friend can basically make their two partner digimon a royal knight again.
In both Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory you're gifted a Digimon, but you go out of your way to defend said Digimon, leading to them forming a bond with you
Yeah and you explictly still need the program to use them and take them with you. You are given the program before meeting them by the "boy" in white.
Post hand. I swear digimon only came on public access tv thus only minorities watched it.
>if it doesn't make me bleed money then it's not good
Because they'd have to answer the age old questions and everyone will b***h regardless of the outcome.
Pokémon doesn't require crossovers to be relevant.
I assume its more on Game Freak then it is Bamco, since I have no doubts Game Freak are really anal about stuff crossing over into the Pokemon world that isn't a Pokemon itself
Digimon doesn't seem to have any issues doing crossover stuff however, as they've done crossover content with Medabots
If you wanted a real Pokemon and Digimon crossover, with a story, it wouldn't work, since Digimon are just so much stronger then Pokemon
Unless like you introduce a plot device, like a new Digimon that nerfs the Digimon to be an equal level to Pokemon, very Dragon Ball FighterZ story nonsense to justify the characters being able to fight and defeat characters they have no right being able to defeat
Bamco hates Digimon more than Pokemon fans do.
But does Bandai Namco hate Digimon more than Game Freak hates Pokémon?
Game Freak doesn't hate Pokemon, they're just morons that force themselves to make a new generation every 3 years, and its clear this stopped working once they hit 3D, but they still continue to do it instead of giving themselves more time.
The 3 year timing is because that's right when people get bored of the current installment in a series, so a new one is needed to refresh the franchise and its merchandise.
I still think they could increase it to 4 years, and hold people over with side games, and even stuff teasing the next generation
I still think the choice of making Legends Arceus not milking it for the year, which would give them more time to develop Scarlet and Violet for the following year was the weirdest call
Tears of the Kingdom managed to get 6 years of development, so its not always the case
Right and totk has the same amount of content as any other open world. And you saw what gf did with open world. People say they have trouble with 3d but how many games in 3d they made? And dont come with they are only a few when other studios or teams are credited to the games. What about all the other games that tale 3 years to make? You see fault when a game is rushed, not the entire game sucking ass. You can compare pokemon to other games and not pany are uglier and perform badly. Even then, nobody forbid them to take more years to develop
>Right and totk has the same amount of content as any other open world
But you can build Zonai mechs and torture koroks.
Doesn't that make the game 11/10 greatest game of all time?
Right, the moron who defends gamefreak knows anything about video game development. If you find zelda bad just stfu, theres no way any pokemon game is better
Oh yeah, I wonder whats the average time to develop games like that. Its clear they are rush by the tpc which is owned by gf, they couldnt have any choice in their development, its known how nintendo forces the studios under them to rush games
A crossover will never happen. Best we can do is a designer swap. Kenji Watanabe will design a couple of Pokemon and a Pokemon artist can design a couple of Digimon.
Why does this Burpmon have to stick his face that close to the camera?
