The lore written since then that has explained how primal summonings work. The original 1.0 plan was that they were genuine deities locked under the lake and then were set free, which is why you see shitloads of them blasting off in that movie. It's normally just a chemical weapon that stills the flow of aether so you die a slow, painful death. Black rose had been used multiple times already, including in that abandoned village in the Fringes and near the Ananta. It only becomes world-ending under the circumstances of a Calamity, because the influx of Light aether from the First enhanced the effects of the weapon. They did explain that.

For gathering I can agree. My biggest gripe about crafting and gathering comes from materia. At least increase the chance for an overmeld if we continuosly attempt to overmeld.

Then they wasted 10 minutes of the main stage comparing lalafell chins with the graphics revamp and it looked no different. That whole show literally increased my desire to play wow.

There will be somethings that aren't announced at the fanfests that show up as a complete surprise in the expansion. For example Bojza was not announced at any of the fanfests or prior to Shadowbringers launch. A huge piece of content like Bojza and it was completely unknown until it was launched.

There will be somethings that aren't announced at the fanfests that show up as a complete surprise in the expansion. For example Bojza was not announced at any of the fanfests or prior to Shadowbringers launch. A huge piece of content like Bojza and it was completely unknown until it was launched.

I will admit, learning about the annihilated civs was great. Nekropolis being outright dead was cool. Final Days were alright but there needed to be more despair and hope. Endwalker really needed to be its own expansion without the Garlemald/Zodiark story weighing it down.

Questing is nonexistent, exploration is nonexistent, dungeons/raids/trials are something the first few times through but get repetitive fast, leveling jobs is neat until you either bore of a specific job or realise they're all the same anyways and are there for dress up, ultimates and savage's aren't content, pvp LMAO.
I still haven't finished endwalker, maybe I'll try and blitz it in another couple months.

after a while you'll start to piece things together about the job and how to make it work under different circumstances
You should understand and memorize your rotation. It doesn't change much in fights. Run content you are comfortable with. Then, you should just be able to focus on boss mechanics.
Pick 1 class and learn it. If you try to be jack of all trades, even though the game sort of pushes for it, you're gonna suffer. Your rotation should flow without you thinking about it and only on the fight. Swapping between classes you're never going to fully meld with your job.

They said at the Rising event they just had the minigame was a test to see if they could fit a game like that into the FF14 engine. Yoshida and Sakaguchi at the UK fanfest both talked about wanting to put in the first few FF games into ff14, in fact Sakaguchi was quite insistent, saying that Yoshida should try if they can do it.
I expect to see the implementation in 8.0 at the very latest.
They said for the old FFs is that it's purely they need someone to make an emulator to be usable in game and no one wants to take that helm when there's more pressing matters in development.

I know the memes about Aether being the raid server are true. Check PF's hardcore category during prime hours and there'll be 5 or 6 on Primal and 150+ on Aether.
A long, long time ago there was just two NA data centers: Aether and Primal.
Then SE created Crystal by taking some from each of the other two and putting them together.
For some ungodly reason, they decided Crystal should be comprised of Balmung and all of the newest, least populated worlds. Aether on the other hand was given the top raiding worlds, and Primal was given anything inbetween.
Thus people placed on Crystal who raided (and to a lesser extent some people on Primal) shit their pants mass migrated to Aether in order to raid since there was a free temporary character transfer to any world available.
Meanwhile both Aether and Primal were put on lockdown and Crystal was the preferred world for all new players for about 2 years.
It created a self fulfilling prophecy where "no-one raids on Crystal because no-one raids on Crystal" since eveyone moved to Aether and the only people playing on Crystal were mostly new players.
Eventually things started to balance themselves out as the new players reached end game and grew and interest in raiding.
Then cross DC travel was added and it once again killed raiding on Crystal, the newly established Dynamis, and Primal - because now genuinely everyone just goes to Aether to do PF or even just queue for DF content.
i still do roulettes on crystal because usually the characters are whackier while still trying to be a character and not just a meme, but i do partyfinder on aether because i actually want to fill.
I'm telling you now as a point of my personal hardcore raiding experience across the entirety of NA: "CRYSTAL BAD" is a Reddit meme.
The truth is that 95% of people who raid in this game are turbo garbage shitters who barely know how to play their own job, let alone doing raid content.
Locking out specific people is just going to waste your time and probably get you in trouble, because the matter of the fact is Aether and Primal raiders are just as dogshit as Crystal's.

Yes it was a Hunt, here's another. This wasn't a Hunt train but an S rank. You can stumble across them but people tend to use the Hunt linkshell, discord not me frick discord I refuse to use it or use Sonar.
Mods and the rp support from the devs created a social environment kinda like secondlife 2.0
The game just used WoW's model from when it was much better (wrath+mop) and ran with that formula instead of what wow was doing later
It fundamentally was designed to avoid the major problems wow has baked into it's foundations
A large % of the content added is evergreen so it adds a lot more value to the game than most of wow's extremely disposable patches
Better transmog system that allows for a lot more player expression, same with character creator

I've played ffxiv for 1600 hours. I've cleared p1s to p12s, thaleia, all criterion dungeons, extremes including Golbez and last few recent Unreals. Honestly pass trough all story campaing without skiping. Tried some casual activites. And realized that even tranniefurry shitlands better than this weeb game. Ffxiv is not even a MMORPG. It's just the big bunch of QTE. This game feels like OSU or other rhythm shit. Loot means nothing except passing through dps check. You character didn't changes with gearing him. Savages and extremes are hard as frick, and ultimates even harder. When you clear it you feel hollowed. Ffxiv sisters tells that this game is for chilling, but that's a lie. All endgame content is about parsing QTE raids. And community is much toxic. They never forgive you even one mistake. And they can't bear any criticism about they gorgeous game. There is only 2 ways of playing ffxiv. Ass sniffing in Limsa Lominsa and qte raids.
In worlo you can clear heroic, you can make keymaster, and receive full experience. Yes there is so much shit with timegates, moron, furries, stupid story, ridiculous alt hate systems, but the core content is available for all levels of player skill.
Frick ffxiv. I will better play furry worlo rather than this OSU and DMC reskin.

It's only really the case because the fights are so long, and if there's a puzzle at the end of the fight, you have to waste 9 minutes x Nb of pulls to figure it out, and pugs don't want to deal with it, the early stuff you can figure them out at a decent pace
Progging Zodiark and Hydaelyn EX at release was some of the most fun I had in the game tbh, especially as tank where if people are annoying you, you can nuke the raid at a moments notice.
I really, really like progging on release but because I'm so busy I rarely get the chance to do it anymore. I'm still looking for a good raid group/ static who will put up with me and willing to prog through EX fights and Savage tiers long after they've been released.
Mine and friend's time is very skewed but I'll be willing to give this content a try even if it is just wiping while learning.
Probably couldn't commit to any static or something like that.
But just doing regular content gets old very fast.

That's exactly the right mindset to go in with. If you progress from the first mechanic to the fifth, you've had a good session. Doesn't have to be a clear.
That said, even for newer players, extremes often only take a few hours to prog through and clear.

The rest of the Source has always been magically less dense. Eorzea was special in that regard because Mor Dhona is the Lifestream's nexus point. The Battle of Silvertear Skies resulted in Midgardsormr smashing the Agrius into the lake and flooding Eorzea with even more aether, which allowed for primals to be summoned. But in the post-ARR quests there's a researcher who notes that for some reason Eorzea's aetherial density has been dropping since then. They don't ever really go back to that point and it's probably forgotten.

You see Y'shtola comment on this in an early ARR Echo flashback, when she notes that the existence of primals must mean the Calamity they were preparing for is approaching. Dalamud was the actual Calamity, but there was a lead up.

Black rose was first talked about at 4.0 launch. It wasn't asspulled from anywhere, they actually just looked backwards and saw they already had a perfect chemical weapon already written into the lore.

It's normally just a chemical weapon that stills the flow of aether so you die a slow, painful death. Black rose had been used multiple times already, including in that abandoned village in the Fringes and near the Ananta. It only becomes world-ending under the circumstances of a Calamity, because the influx of Light aether from the First enhanced the effects of the weapon. They did explain that.
They were foreshadowing the 8th umbral calamity. A loss of aetheric density was required for the First to rejoin the Source and i can only imagine the flood of light didn't help matters with its stagnancy effect.

You should understand and memorize your rotation. It doesn't change much in fights. Run content you are comfortable with. Then, you should just be able to focus on boss mechanics.
Pick 1 class and learn it. If you try to be jack of all trades, even though the game sort of pushes for it, you're gonna suffer. Your rotation should flow without you thinking about it and only on the fight. Swapping between classes you're never going to fully meld with your job.

A long, long time ago there was just two NA data centers: Aether and Primal.
Then SE created Crystal by taking some from each of the other two and putting them together.
For some ungodly reason, they decided Crystal should be comprised of Balmung and all of the newest, least populated worlds. Aether on the other hand was given the top raiding worlds, and Primal was given anything inbetween.
Thus people placed on Crystal who raided (and to a lesser extent some people on Primal) shit their pants mass migrated to Aether in order to raid since there was a free temporary character transfer to any world available.
Meanwhile both Aether and Primal were put on lockdown and Crystal was the preferred world for all new players for about 2 years.
It created a self fulfilling prophecy where "no-one raids on Crystal because no-one raids on Crystal" since eveyone moved to Aether and the only people playing on Crystal were mostly new players.
Eventually things started to balance themselves out as the new players reached end game and grew and interest in raiding.
Then cross DC travel was added and it once again killed raiding on Crystal, the newly established Dynamis, and Primal - because now genuinely everyone just goes to Aether to do PF or even just queue for DF content.
i still do roulettes on crystal because usually the characters are whackier while still trying to be a character and not just a meme, but i do partyfinder on aether because i actually want to fill.

I've played ffxiv for 1600 hours. I've cleared p1s to p12s, thaleia, all criterion dungeons, extremes including Golbez and last few recent Unreals. Honestly pass trough all story campaing without skiping. Tried some casual activites. And realized that even tranniefurry shitlands better than this weeb game. Ffxiv is not even a MMORPG. It's just the big bunch of QTE. This game feels like OSU or other rhythm shit. Loot means nothing except passing through dps check. You character didn't changes with gearing him. Savages and extremes are hard as frick, and ultimates even harder. When you clear it you feel hollowed. Ffxiv sisters tells that this game is for chilling, but that's a lie. All endgame content is about parsing QTE raids. And community is much toxic. They never forgive you even one mistake. And they can't bear any criticism about they gorgeous game. There is only 2 ways of playing ffxiv. Ass sniffing in Limsa Lominsa and qte raids.
In worlo you can clear heroic, you can make keymaster, and receive full experience. Yes there is so much shit with timegates, moron, furries, stupid story, ridiculous alt hate systems, but the core content is available for all levels of player skill.
Frick ffxiv. I will better play furry worlo rather than this OSU and DMC reskin.
Some people say extreme/savages are doable, others say it's too hard.
What is it, then?
They're not really hard, they're just very punishing and pugs leave after 3 pulls
So your perspective on whether it's too easy or too hard is decided by your commitment or who you play with, rather than what is being asked of you
So many people say you need spreadsheets and excels and watch half hour guides to finish some stuff.
Meanwhile anything not Savage is a brain dead content.
That's what keeps me from investing more in this game, it's either too little or too much.
It's only really the case because the fights are so long, and if there's a puzzle at the end of the fight, you have to waste 9 minutes x Nb of pulls to figure it out, and pugs don't want to deal with it, the early stuff you can figure them out at a decent pace
Progging Zodiark and Hydaelyn EX at release was some of the most fun I had in the game tbh, especially as tank where if people are annoying you, you can nuke the raid at a moments notice.
I really, really like progging on release but because I'm so busy I rarely get the chance to do it anymore. I'm still looking for a good raid group/ static who will put up with me and willing to prog through EX fights and Savage tiers long after they've been released.
Extremes can be done blind, usually there's at most one mechanic that requires some proper thought. For savage it's better to watch a guide first
Savage .1 of Pandaemonium was not that bad tbh, can’t speak for the rest though. Still better than the eye cancer that is mythic raiding though
That first one was easier than a lot of extremes. It was nice as an entry point to get newbies over the fear of savage
Mine and friend's time is very skewed but I'll be willing to give this content a try even if it is just wiping while learning.
Probably couldn't commit to any static or something like that.
But just doing regular content gets old very fast.

That's exactly the right mindset to go in with. If you progress from the first mechanic to the fifth, you've had a good session. Doesn't have to be a clear.
That said, even for newer players, extremes often only take a few hours to prog through and clear.
