It's not a bad game. Also, it was made entirely by one person.
It beats the shit out of 95% of the pretentious ass indie games released after it. It's fun to play, has a good story and good music, and was released for free (before Nicalis got their grubby hands on it anyway).

There are literally THOUSANDS of ones out there in the 80s/90s. Indie games have been a thing for many decades, it didn't come to be when Indie Game The Movie came out and told you how it was this new wave thing.

Literally look at any DOS shareware CD during the 90s. They're filled to the brim with games made by 1 or 2 dudes, and were often freeware. These ARE indie games by all definition. Same with any home PC from the 80s as well, shit was just traded on floppies and over BBS.

The whole European personal computer market was basically comprised of indie games. Zx spectrum, abstract cpc, bbc micro. That’s was like 99.999% percent indie games. it starts out bad, you start in a cave with a life restore and a save point. if you dont save imediately and you end up dying you have to sit through the intro again. why not just save the game when it starts instead? because that would be a *touch* too much polish, innit .
then you have to go down the cavern left and a health up is just sitting there, why not just start out with more health to begin with, because that would convenience the player!
then you get down there and you get your first weapon, and you have to backtrack up out of the cave, why not just put the weapon up there by where you need to exit? because frick you.
