>good marketing, clearly catering to the young college demographic instead of 5 year Olds with the wii u >a killer app at launch with zelda >well executed concept unlike the wii us gamepad >a healthy supply of games throughout its lifespan
Also I feel like a lot of wii/gamecube kids skipped out on wii u and got a switch
>"HOW DID NINTENDO SELL SO MUCH?! HMMM?!" >No PS5s on shelves for months on end >Want to buy a switch, you can just get one with ease >"NO! THIS IS A CONSPIRACY! THEY HAVE SALES AND CONSOLES?! IMPOSSIBLE! AHHHH!"
The Wii U was a shitty idea on outdated hardware with horrible marketing
The Switch is a great idea on decent hardware (for what it is) and good marketing
because its gimmick is actually useful. you can use it as a home console or use it portable style to wherever you go(which you shouldn't do because that's soi territory). helps that it has a shitload of games too.
And also they had to kill off their entire dedicated handheld platform to do it. I don't really think a "Nintendo portable" (again not really portable like the prior ones were but it's the only option) with Pokemon can fail at this point. Pokemon is the absolute lowest denominator game and it sells obscenely well despite the horrendous quality of the games.
Because the Wii U was fricking moronic and the Switch is significantly less so.
Combine that with better marketing, actual games for the system beyond Mario releases at their most bland, and allowing it to function as a handheld (literally every Nintendo handheld other than the Virtual Boy (if you can even call it one) was a huge success)
The real question is how the frick the Switch manage to be successful when the whole internet tried to sabotage it
Serious, Youtube, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook and Ganker tried everything to make the Switch fail, they even got as far as trying to stigmatize the players in a sad attempt to make young kids hate it with the whole "basedböy" thing
Switch appeals to casuals who don't pay attention to internet midwits, who wrote all the internet doomposting. True intellectuals realize the more games Switch gets, the more they can emulate, so it's better if it suceeds.
Emulation is always a good thing long term due to game preservation. The emuturdworlders who can't shut up about emulation and mock nintendo that the Switch is emulateable are intellectually limited: they don't understand the golden goose parable (the bedtime fable for children). Your image is an example of such a midwit.
Anyone with a brain realizes the correct strategy is to shut up, let the Switch be successful, and enjoy the games in peace.
Nintendoom has been a thing for as long as Nintendo have been in the vidya business. The Wii U was an unmitigated disaster and doomers were salivating over Switch being the killing blow that would finally make them go third party. Their fantasy didn’t come to fruition so now all they can do is cope. Imagine the ass pain when it surpasses PS2’s lifetime sales.
marketing, like this thread
But then sony would be winning
cross link to literally one sony marketing thread currently up
Sony's marketing sucks. They're advertising video games to the kind of people who would rather binge watch some netflix garbage.
The big guy in charge of PlayStation got let go just now (fired) for his horrible PS5 branding and communication.
Pokemon, portable
nostalgia
It has games
>good marketing, clearly catering to the young college demographic instead of 5 year Olds with the wii u

They didn't, Nintendo is bribing retail stores and especially famitsu to fabricate hardware and software sales
Fricking check your local stores and Switches are fully stocked 24/7
Absolutely correct. The shareholders are being lied to and Nintendo’s management needs to be thrown into jail for this.
Eric, snoy lost, it's over
>Fricking check your local stores and Switches are fully stocked 24/7
So, Nintendo knows how to keep shelves stocked?
>"HOW DID NINTENDO SELL SO MUCH?! HMMM?!"
>No PS5s on shelves for months on end
>Want to buy a switch, you can just get one with ease
>"NO! THIS IS A CONSPIRACY! THEY HAVE SALES AND CONSOLES?! IMPOSSIBLE! AHHHH!"
Maybe just use your brain sometime. moron

>decent hardware
It's wii u tier, so ancient shit tier. What are you talking about ?
Games matter more than hardware
Ps5 is more powerful yet has no games
because its gimmick is actually useful. you can use it as a home console or use it portable style to wherever you go(which you shouldn't do because that's soi territory). helps that it has a shitload of games too.
>shit load of games
>half the games run sub 20fps
>half the games look like ps1 era
>half the games kill the battery in 30 minutes
i agree im just answering the OP question. only games developed by nintendo look and run decently on the bad hardware
But enough about ps5
>itt
i was the only meaningful handheld experience
All Nintendo handhelds sell well.

1000 million? Why didnt they just say one billion?
Cause they want to count in the tens of thousands and don't want to have to write 1.08835 billion
Because the Wii U was fricking moronic and the Switch is significantly less so.

skibbi dop dop dop yes yes mmm skibbi dop dop beep beep
The harder eric seethes the more Nintendo sells
Compelling, easy to understand concept.
Total Nintendomination
>1 billion software sales
what constitutes a software sale?

It's probably because modern day nintendo fans are moronic and will buy anything with the brand.
