FF14 is one of the most progressive games out there, and by far one of the most progressive to ever come out of japan. The entire core message of the game is that diversity is the greatest strenght out there.

ehhh let's temper this with the game presenting "diversity" as culture differences, different ways of thinking, and literal species diversity. in contrast with the garlean empire that is 100% intolerant of any non-garlean culture (unless it has something cool they want to swipe) and does not tolerate any anti-garlean sentiment (unless solus found it funny like the prima vista's crew) and believes all races are inferior to garleans in ways they don't have to prove

It's very easy to beat your opponents when they are entirely made of straw.
But to pretend the game isn't progressive, as I said, is dellusion. The themes of the strenght of diversity (and democracy) are constantly reinforced.

EW was extremely minimalist, starting from the new job actions to the patch content to them getting more and more lazy when designing armour(by just completely cutting tails and ears of beast races). The only thing they did really well was the 6.0/6.1 MSQ, other than that it was very, very slim pickings.

Let's not get carried away there, bro. I mean, I've been subbed for 4 years and I've only logged in once this month just to make sure I didn't lose my medium house in The Mist. The game is great, but I've been doing MMORPGs since the mid 90s and there's plenty of room for improvement.

but belt customization as part of your character's looks were removed as soon as ARR dropped anyhow, so removing them as stat sticks wasn't a huge deal in comparison

Game is in a worse state now than pre-ARR was, unironically.
They've straight out turned the game into a single player MMO and removed everything that was unique about the game. All the interesting and fun systems are just abandoned and long forgotten, jobs are all streamlined and plays nearly identical, job-fantasy barely exist anymore and it's just no fun anymore.
