It became a meme almost a decade ago because it's an annoying as frick quest item that takes up inventory weight and can't be removed until you finish the quest. I don't even bother picking it up anymore.
Quest items should either have 0 weight, or they shouldn't be protected in your inventory.

Quest items do have 0 weight (they add nothing to your total carry weight even if they say they have weight)
I didn't know that. That's even dumber, but at least I don't have to skip it for practical reasons then. Thanks for the info.
