How did we go from this
, lock them in mid-air while they're falling, beat the living crap out of them with a giant hammer and then climb them and have a nice day on top of the highest peak that you see in the distance?
>, lock them in mid-air while they're falling, beat the living crap out of them with a giant hammer and then climb them and have a nice day on top of the highest peak that you see in the distance?
Nah, but couldn't do that In Morrowind/Gothic/New Vegas and other of the greatest open world games ever made because I value more things than braindead sandbox gameplay.
If I want to turn my brain off and do "cuhraaaaazy" shit like that, I would pirate Just Cause 2, a 2011 game or Just Cause 3. Mogs BoTW in every way when it comes to that sort of shit.
Morrowind and Gothic are some of my favourite games ever but the whole point of my post was that graphics don't matter more than gameplay. Gothic easily beats Witcher 3 for me as a role-playing game and yet it looks like shit now. (I loved both, have poured hundreds of hours in W3)
>Morrowind and Gothic are some of my favourite games ever but the whole point of my post was that graphics don't matter more than gameplay
Good thing Witcher 3 has better combat than both of those games and significantly better quests/choices/dialogue options. >Gothic easily beats Witcher 3 for me as a role-playing game
Biggest meme i've ever heard.
1. Pitiful amount of actual consequence throughout the quests relative to Witcher 3
2. Exact same issue with the predefined protagonist (that extends onto the sequel)
Only shit it does better are the npc interactions and overall quantity of dialogue options (even if most are dressing)
Have fun following that marker in Witcher 3. Morrowind and Gothic are much more immersive experiences for me for that reason alone. It's been a while since I last played them but I think they might have better pacing in their main quests too, like how in Morrowind you're just told to wait at some point in the mqs and that completely justifies wandering around doing side content. In Witcher 3 I was constantly like "I gotta save Ciri" and couldn't enjoy any of the (superb) side content until my second playthrough.

Cool bro, good for you.
It's very immersive having to write NASA code just to loot a chest in Gothic or missing 60 point blank swings against a mudcrab in Morrowind. fr fr, no cap!

Sure, you can turn the mini-map off but there's no way you're going to reach your destination if you don't stop and look at the marker on your map. The only exception I can think of is when you're given the directions to find Keira's hut, everything else was just too confusing.
I loved exploring Morrowind, that's something I could never experience in any other game after that. And sure, mechanically both Morrowind and Gothic are much inferior and crappy, there's no denying that. I just hope Witcher 4 learns something from them, it's been 20 years since the release of Morrowind ffs.

Why not? That's literally what Super Bunnyhop did for his review of the game.
You go by landmarks, each map is also segregated and pretty much every quest gives you a location within the quest description. >everything else was just too confusing.

My bad, I meant to say that the directions are actually incomplete, not just confusing because they're hard to understand. I loved solving the Zachtronics games, I think by now I would have the means necessary to understand some basic directions

Nah bro I'm telling you I loved Witcher 3, that's not what I'm talking about. I don't want the developers to hold my hand all the time, that's it.

morrowind handled side content and the main storyline progress really well. i agree with what you're saying, even though you sound like a hipster dork.

>In Witcher 3 I was constantly like "I gotta save Ciri"
I'm glad I read the books inbetween TW2 and 3, the entire saga is just Geralt looking for Ciri for 4/5 books, and it takes him MONTHS with lots of "side quests" along the way, so I felt fine doing side quests in 3
though book Geralt REALLY like to moan about these distractions, even getting called out for it by his RPG party at one point with them saying it's going to be a long search anyway and they need money and supplies on the journey for food, lodging, gear maintenance, etc
hell even in the game time is moving faster than you think, it takes Geralt a few WEEKS to ride from Novigrad to Kaer Morhen after he gets Uma
Thats literally the one cool thing you can do in that game and its probably unintentional. The rest of the game has the same problems GTA and every other soulless open world game has, except it doesn't have decent writing or graphics to make up for it.
Nah, played and loved both but BotW is more like a game to frick around in when i'm bored whereas Witcher 3 was a fully fleshed out kino experience.
I also always end up dropping BoTW after about 2 divine beasts because the lack of unique content kills the gameplay and fricking around with the physics is only fun for a few hours at most.

You didn't play it

The PC version is literally how the developers first coded and designed the game only to then gut it so it could work on a fisher price tablet.
Thanks for funding BoTW2 btw, looking forward to pirating the definitive edition of that whenever Nintendos PTSD of Elden Ring is gone.
Me too. I don't expect Nintendo games to have high graphical fidelity, I do expect them to have good artistic stylization to account for that fact, and BotW accomplished this pretty well imo.

Keeping your staffing at full production levels is not a good idea, financially, if you are not ready for them to be working yet. Most positions within the game industry are temporary. No exception in Poland.
After witcher 3's mainstream success they went fully woke with hiring practices, leading to cyberpunk2077 being a huge mess

Would YOU want to remain in Poland making Europoor wages after adding a critically-acclaimed game to your resume?

You could do way more than that in just cause 2. JC2 was 7 years old already by the time botw was sharted out.
Yeah that's great but that doesn't change the fact that I don't give a shit about graphics. I'm sure JC2 is an awesome game.
JC2 has better graphics, better physics, AND better destructibility than botw.
Thats literally the one cool thing you can do in that game and its probably unintentional. The rest of the game has the same problems GTA and every other soulless open world game has, except it doesn't have decent writing or graphics to make up for it.
