next level games always do that, the first gameplay looks like shit and suddendly the swtch is running RTX on release, check the first announcement of Luigi's Mansion 3
3DS sales are slowing down, so now it's safe to make ports. Fingers crossed Ever Oasis gets one, it got fricked over by being released when the switch launched.
>3DS sales are slowing down
They're literally non-existant outside of bargain bins and secondhand shops, the 3DS eshop was closed and 3Ds system have been discontinued for a while now
God I hope so. I invested so many hours into DM multiplayer with a friend. Being able to play it on my big tv with a proper controller is going to make it that much better.
If it is going to look like 3DS version like in the trailer it has to be 60FPS. But who knows, Nintendo is employing people lately that cannot program for shit.

stupid question but does frame rate improve if using a n3ds? i've only played it on an o3ds but I heard games like monhun had better frames on new 3ds.
>stupid question but does frame rate improve if using a n3ds? i've only played it on an o3ds but I heard games like monhun had better frames on new 3ds.
No it shouldn't. old 3DS games are programed to expect the old hardware so it won't use the extra power of the new 3DS, unless the developer wants the game to be on both and code it so the game takes advantage of the extra cores.
If you have Luma, you can enter the Luma menu and force the game to run with n3DS clock speeds. LM2 is one of those games that sees a performance boost instead of crashing, so try it!

Yeah you needed a modded 3DS to force n3DS clocks. It's worth it though. In KIU, it keeps the game steady even in 3D and ALBTW makes walking through screens instant.
>Yeah you needed a modded 3DS to force n3DS clocks. It's worth it though. In KIU, it keeps the game steady even in 3D and ALBTW makes walking through screens instant.
That's interesting, I didn't know that you can do it with a modded n3ds? Do you have to like use codes or patches?
The framedrops remind me of where they also dropped on 3DS. That clip of Luigi showing his teeth also looked super tweened in a way that it probably did on 3DS but wasn't noticeable on that tiny screen. I think what they showed was actually the game running in some internal Switch 3DS emulator with a model pack, like how Skyward Sword HD and the Mario Galaxy in 3DAS ran.
Focus group bullshit, making it creepy/scary even just a little might scare off kids which is less sales. Cartoony isn't "soulful" like creepy but the amount of angry 20+ year old is absolutely negligible to kids and angry soccer moms. Personally I got Luigi's Mansion when I was only five or six years old. The game gave me nightmares for years but I didn't care, I absolutely loved it and played the shit out of it.

This is why I probably will actually only hunt down the GC version.
Heads up, the Gamecube version is really expensive and it's only about a 4 hour long game and that's with 100% completion of the main mode.
I will say if you have an HDMI capable Gamecube it scales up SUPER nicely on modern displays.
Don't listen to CRT hipsters, the gamecube was specifically made with Digital display in mind. There's an entire port for it.
>This is why I probably will actually only hunt down the GC version.
Is that even worth it? Sure if it's at retail price at worse. I have seen the prices of retro games go way to high you might as well emulate.
>emulate
Not my bag, and I already have a nice retro room at my new place with my Gamecube, among other things. I haven't been looking for Luigi's Mansion, but I'm sure I could snag it at a good price, when I managed to get a used Metroid Prime for three bucks at fricking Gamestop of all places.
I only care about the multiplayer.
God, did anyone even like 3's multiplayer?
I played only a few matches before dropping it completely, fricking dumbass kids not knowing how to get on the damn shit at the end ruined it for me.
The DLC made the multiplayer more fun, but random online is still fricking cancer. I don't get why they made it so dependant on your teammates.
Online rooms with friends or people who aren't kids are great however.
I still haven't played a Luigi's Mansion game despite it looking up my alley.
Never picked up Dark Moon on my 3DS because I heard it wasn't as good as the original.
Never tried the port of the original on the 3DS because I also heard it wasn't as good.
Never tried 3 because I wanted to play the original first.
What the frick are you talking about? Until BotW Zelda was a B tier franchise in terms of sales.

What the frick are YOU talking about? Zelda games have consistently been a top 5-10 seller on Nintendo consoles

Zelda is third place in active franchises in regards to total lifetime sales behind Mario and Pokemon- and it holds that position by an enormous and absurd margin. It was the case before BotW and it's still the case now. This is a laughable post, anon.
Doubt it the game has too much of a bad rep for being announced and released at a bad time. People are gonna shit on it again for not being Muh Metroid Prime 4.
Unless they someday do a Metroid collection that throws it in as a bonus it's best the existence of that game is forgotten. I think Nintendo learned something about porting shitty games when Tokyo Mirage sessions on Switch did even worse than the original on Wii U
Dark Moon is mediocore compared to how well Next Level improved on the 3rd entry. The mission based system was just bad and it made revisiting the mansion repetitive. Other then that only the 1st and last boss was any good. The other bosses were dumb gimmick bosses. The multiplayer is more of the same compared to 3rd game, but you can solo the whole thing by yourself if you have moronic teammates or leavers.
Iirc dark non had the sm64 problem where you have to annoyingly enter and re enter areas to complete missions instead of just being able to do it all in one pass. So hopefully they tweak that but otherwise I'll probably pick it up
It's the worst LM, but still a solid game overall. Wouldn't mind playing through it again, but they would need to add something in there for me to buy it since I still have my 3DS.
I know that the 3DS remake of LM1 was handled by a different studio (Grezzo), rather than the studio that made LM2 (Next Level Games), but it seems a bit odd that they'd not just port both and bundle them together like they did with Pikmin. I don't think anyone will be rushing out to buy LM2.
I only want 2 if so there's less 3DS exclusives I miss out on. I just really don't like playing on tiny portables anymore. I absolutely adored it when I was a kid, but now I just want to loaf in a couch with a comfy controller.
The controls will probably feel better so that's a plus, but I don't really feel all that hyped since I still have the original. I guess it remains to be seen if anything will be added beyond the most obvious.
I hope they redo the mission structure. Considering NLG is working on it and it seems to be slated for next year, I think we're getting some serious changes to the game.
I want LM3's King Boo model in there.
I loved LM 1 and 3. I did not really enjoy LM2. I got to the spider boss and dropped it.
For me the controls sucked and I hated the mission based format.
Assuming the controls get fixed should I give it another chance or is it too different?
based LM1 AND 3 enjoyer.
It's really hard to discuss LM nowadays, because people will keep regurgitating "muh soul old good new bad" without recognizing each games strong and weak points.

and to answer your question, it really depends on how much they changed, so best to wait and see. One of my nitpicks is how much the game stops you on your tracks just so E.Gadd can call you. It got annoying real fast.
Ambivalence at best, Dark Moon is kind of a shit game. It really drags and most of the missions are shitty fetchquest busy work. Should've at least included a remake of 1. Now we're stuck with the 3DS version that doesn't work if your 3DS c stick is broken like mine was.
It's not bizarre at all, it's perfectly warranted. It's the only game in the trilogy locked behind a dead system with dual screen features that will never be used again. It needed a remake.
it looks just as bad as LM3 did when it was first show off. It even has that same shitty plastic look. The fact this ain't coming out til next year is telling it'll get a glow up just like 3 did in its final trailer.
It's not a priority to buy, but it's nice to have as an option eventually. Too much stuff announced in the Direct. It'd be nice if they ported the remake of the first game as well.
It looked like shit, but they said it's in development and it's not coming till 2024 so I assume it'll look better by then if they just use LM3 assets?
look at the original LM3 teaser, it looked like shit. Then a few months later they showed it off again and it ended up being the best looking Switch game.
I haven't played LM2 yet, so it'll be a good opportunity. What got me more excited is that we're getting 3DS ports, so games like pic related can happen.
Uninterested. I played it on the 3ds and didn't love it. Making it mission based and limiting exploration when the first one actively encouraged it really took a lot of fun out of it. Thankfully they fixed that in 3, but the other big issue is the spookiness is gone completely and the interesting ghost designs were replaced by boring unimaginative ones. Much like Paper Mario changes were made and it's unlikely I'll ever love it like I did the first.
wait, is this the 3ds version ported to the switch? that's cool and all, but why?
probably cheap to do.
it's a remake using LM3 assets
Is it? It just looked like the 3DS assets at a higher resolution in the trailer.
next level games always do that, the first gameplay looks like shit and suddendly the swtch is running RTX on release, check the first announcement of Luigi's Mansion 3

They should have made a collection instead.
LM 1+2 Like they did with pikman and sold it 50.
I’ll only buy if they include MP
God I hope so. I invested so many hours into DM multiplayer with a friend. Being able to play it on my big tv with a proper controller is going to make it that much better.
Neat. Is going to run at that frame rate though?
If it is going to look like 3DS version like in the trailer it has to be 60FPS. But who knows, Nintendo is employing people lately that cannot program for shit.

liked luigis mansion as a kid but didn't like how they dropped the creepy vibe for the brighter look and more "funny" ghosts in 3

Would have to include the 1st as well to make me care.
Why didn't they package it with the LM1 remake
I still haven't played a Luigi's Mansion game despite it looking up my alley.
Never picked up Dark Moon on my 3DS because I heard it wasn't as good as the original.
Never tried the port of the original on the 3DS because I also heard it wasn't as good.

Some day I'll buy a used Gamecube copy.
Just emulate it silly
And it's clearly not as good you think it will be
No.
No.
Just emulate it silly
And it's clearly better than you think it will be
It's cool that they are porting 3ds games, I hope they do that with kid icarus uprising
lmao
>kid icarus uprising
Didn't that game sell extremely bad?
It did good, don't listen to Ganker they always say everything is a flop.
I never said it was a flop, but I'm sure it didn't sold as well as a mario or a zelda.
Nothing Nintendo makes sells as well as Mario or Zelda anon.
Pokemon?

If not for Metroid Prime fanboy shit-flip rage, I definitely think so. Make it a part of NSO and it'll be a major hit, I think.
Not with Metroid Prime 4 lingering over fans' heads, that's for sure.
It's not a port moron. It's a remake using Luigi's Mansion 3 assets

My sister loved this game when and used to play it on my 3DS, so i think she will be happy.
Strange move to port a 7/10 game but it is what it is
HELL YEAH!
As someone who loved the original Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon, I am really happy with this one.
I know that the 3DS remake of LM1 was handled by a different studio (Grezzo), rather than the studio that made LM2 (Next Level Games), but it seems a bit odd that they'd not just port both and bundle them together like they did with Pikmin. I don't think anyone will be rushing out to buy LM2.

played through it in october. it's alright but I won't be playing it again.
Indifferent if it's only a graphical upgrade.
But if they're removing the shitty mission system I might buy it.
I loved LM 1 and 3. I did not really enjoy LM2. I got to the spider boss and dropped it.

I don’t really care
Love LM 3 so I might buy this despite owning it on 3DS for multiplayer funnies
A really bizarre choice for a remake though
It's not bizarre at all, it's perfectly warranted. It's the only game in the trilogy locked behind a dead system with dual screen features that will never be used again. It needed a remake.
So is Luigi’s Mansion 1 by that same logic
Might as well port them both like Pikmin
Wait LM1 isn't on switch yet? Kek fair enough.
1 has the best arcade elements
2 has the best ghost combat
3 has the best level design
They need to mix all of these together in LM4
I played the 3ds one and have fond memories of it.
the best part about luigis mansion is making fat stacks of cash
why did that never return
it looks just as bad as LM3 did when it was first show off. It even has that same shitty plastic look. The fact this ain't coming out til next year is telling it'll get a glow up just like 3 did in its final trailer.

I hope they fix the framedrops, I might try it. Frame lag is a deal breaker for me.
There was like one guy in the world who wanted this and he’s happy ig
Peak mandate garbage, absolute steaming diarrhea dump piece of shit game. Play the gamecube original instead.
It looked like shit, but they said it's in development and it's not coming till 2024 so I assume it'll look better by then if they just use LM3 assets?
