However if you have friends that have steam but not the game you might be able to get them to play over steam's online LAN feature to get them hooked.

EDF is a game that doesn't come up here often enough. So, what's Ganker opinion on those games?
Personally I like the missions from 4 more because it has a lot of epic battles while 5 has so many filler missions where you can't kill the important enemies because they're made to be immortal.
On the other hand I greatly prefer the enemies of 5 and it even has a real boss.
Really torn about which I like more
I picked the 4 on the steam sale and I`m loving it. I just put some good songs and mute everything that is not the SFX and just kill stuff for a couple of hours.

We have threads every time new game releases, both for consoles and PC.
I think you might just be unlucky with timing, there's usually two or three good threads a week.
I feel the same about 4 and 5 though. Both do some things better than the other.
I agree. 4 has better missions (the intro mission to 4 is amazing, then 5 had to stretch it across 3 different levels for whatever reason) while 5 has better gameplay and QoL improvements. Hopefully 6 combines the two for the best of both worlds.

It's mindless fun and i'm having a blast everytime. It's like teh dragon quest of its genre for me in the sense that they pretty much release the same core game everytime but it's so fricking good that who cares. It's essentially vidya in its truest form since what makes you play and stay is the fun factor.
In short, it's goofy, silly, addictive and fun

4/4.1 is a great game
Insect Armageddon is utter trash, but also peak SOUL
5 is really more of EDF 4.2 than anything, it has updated graphics and a few mechanical changes, but it's more of the same
Haven't played Iron Rain, World Brothers, or the older games, but I've heard that IR is like IA without the soul, and that WB is pretty good.
Iron Rain is kinda boring. but have good character customisation, and World Brothers is a fricking gacha, so don't ever bother playing them.
2017 is still my favorite, but 4.1 comes close.

Why do you think it is that the west doesn't have a good EDF equivalent?
I've also wondered the same thing about Musou games. Even when they get western devs to try and make games in these series it doesn't turn out so well

There were constant lobbies here when the game released on PC, but they stopped after enough time elapsed that everyone here could hit 100% completion.
Now you just gotta find a random lobby online which should only take 10 minutes.
I have seen more lobbies on ps4 lately, a few months ago I was only seeing people farming DLC. I mainly just go in and carry noobs on Hard. It tries my patience though because I always see fencers playing without boost dashing or air raiders using trash like spritefall beta. I try to teach these guys but I can't be everywhere or play it all the time.
I managed to convince a friend to play it with me once. He only played like 2 hours then never played with me again. Fricking homosexual
