>waaaaaaaaaah I can't spam the win button and I have to actually try hard to beat it
And why would you play a game that's very clearly not trying to be traditional, traditionally. Frankly it's the only game where dragons live up to the actual hype instead of just feeling like regular magic spells with a more elaborate animation.
By playing them. The series largely improved with each entry, so 5 is the best game in the series by a fair margin while the first game is the weakest one. Only the first three games have any storyline connections, and those connections are very loose, so it doesn't matter where you start.
1 and 2 are absolute fricking dogshit video games that feel like NES games rather than SNES games. 3 and 4 are basic, clunky PS1 games that feel like early SNES games. 5 is pure kino and the only good game in the series.
I see that one turbo-autist 5 defender's here.
Bof3 has the best fishing minigame in all of vidya.
You are objectively correct. Pure kino, and when the day's really nice or I'm fishing irl I hear the tune in my head.
there is a meter that builds up throughout the game and if it hits 100% it's a game over UNLESS it hits 100% during the final boss. There is no indication that hitting 100% in the final boss will NOT result in a game over
Actions like dashing/running and using the Dragon Mode greatly speed up this counter
>There is no indication that hitting 100% in the final boss will NOT result in a game over >Literally everything else is useless. >The real end boss doesn't even do anything right off. >NOoooooOOOOO I can't experiment and try things. The game needs to constantly tell me exactly what to do at all times or I freeze like a dear in headlights.
>waaaaaaaaaah I can't spam the win button and I have to actually try hard to beat it

so this is how DQ fans respond to legitimate criticism against the game they whiteknight, they don't address criticism just drum up imaginary scenarios

You are too low-IQ to even notice that you contradict yourself in the same paragraph.

How do I get into BoF?
IMHO 3 or 4 were the best but you can start anywhere you want since its a FF-Type situation with a new story but similar characters each time.

You're not making any sense, schizo-kun. Does your mental breakdown have a point, or are you just continuing your imaginary arguments with yourself?
Breath of Fire 1, 2 and 3 are a complete trilogy. Each one takes place after the events of the one preceding it, and it's about the overarching story of the Dragon Clan against the Goddess. People accuse 1 of being a bit dated, but it's a solid early SNES JRPG. 2 and 3 are high water marks for the series, especially 3.
Now, after BoF3 Capcom got it into their head that the only thing holding them back from BoF being as big as Final Fantasy was that their games were interconnected. So 4 starts a new and disastrous trend for the series of not having anything to do with the first three games and being set in its own unique setting.
BoF4 is not a bad game in and of itself, mind you. It's easily the best of the standalone games. It might even be as good as 2 or 3 from the main trilogy. But 4's problem is that it started the trend that destroyed the series. Because after we got 5 and 6, absolute shitty standalone games defended only by the most hyper autistic.
So, BoF 4-6 buried the franchise and we've only seen one BoF game in the last 20 years and it was a mobile game. If you're new to the series, play the first three games. Relish the franchise when it was young, beautiful and unique. Best to pretend that 4-6 never happened. They're the new Star Wars films, and they can only ruin the original trilogy if you acknowledge them.

for the sake of your sanity, do not play 2 without the patch. the encounter rate is infuriating and the dialogue is so badly translated it's almost a gag script.
I only played the first one but I felt it was outdated, actually didn't even finished it. Cool elements for the time it came out but way too slow today, iirc you don't get any significant spell before several hours of gameplay, before that it's just about spamming the attack button or enabling the autofight.
download the game and start playing it?
Start with the best one and forget the rest.
play in release order and ignore the abomination posted in
it's only Breath of Fire in name and actively punishes the player for trying to play it like a traditional Breath of Fire game

ooo, scathing
How so?
explaining is unironically a spoiler

First game is admittedly a bit dated and BoF didn't REALLY come into its own until the second game.
I think 2 and 3 are the best.
My advice is don't.
you start with the excellent anime porn
Start with 3.
watch 1 to catch references later (optional)
play 2, you can use a guide
slowplay 3
4 needs some fan patches
2 is my favorite, but I understand it's a bit clunky
>4 needs some fan patches
list of fan patches that are best for 4? currently i have this downloaded
Here's what you need to know.

Loved BOF1 as a wee kid. Played it so much I even found agni by myself
