Start with 3 or 4, play on normal difficulty and clear the first dungeon. If you like what you see continue, otherwise quit because rest is just more of the same.
Don't listen to this guy. You're going to want to start with a spinoff like Devil Survivor or Digital Devil Saga because mainline is shit.
DDS is overrated as hell, DO NOT start with that or you'll get skewed perspective of what mainline is like.

Play persona 4, 2, 2:2, Smt Nocturne and Smt 4
You can skip persona 3, it has weakest gameplay out of nusona, and while the story is good your time will be spent better playing persona 2 duology, since it also has weak gameplay, best story in the series

Why would you ever recommend P4. It's the exact opposite of getting acclimated into SMT.
Start with Nocturne, then move on to Strange Journey, 4, 4: Apocalypse, and 5
SMT4 is a good start, but you should play anything that piques your interest

I'd say start with V or Nocturne. All the games are great and feel unique so you can do them in any order, V is the newest and most accessible (and IMO the best one), Nocturne is the classic that defined all the modern games including Nu-Persona trilogy.
