How do I git gud at Dead Cells? Currently on 1BC and while I love this game I need some tips because I'm hitting a wall here.

You should be doing the basics: focus on one color. When you get a dual scroll that doesn't have your main color, choose whichever gives you more health. And only use items that scale with your main color.
Always explore every bit of the map.
Upgrade your legendary forge for better item drops. You can break the collector's door to carry over your cells to the next biome and eventually to the legendary forge to spend them there.
/thread, also get gud at parrying
How do people use shields? They generally can't do damage on their own so do you pair them with a melee weapon? Just seems too slow and risky to me but I know some people can rek shit with shields.
Blocking is for noobs, you use them for parrying and synergy with your main weapon.
What do you mean synergy?
>shield does bleed damage on block/parry
>weapon crits bleeding enemies
stuff like that
Shield inflicts freezing on parry and your main hand does more to freezing, or whatever
>shield poisons enemies on parry
>you have an item that does +80% damage on poisoned enemies
When the exclamation mark appears above an enemy, press the shield button to parry. Learn the timing. Eventually it will become second nature.
Shields can completely negate most attacks.
And yes, pair it with another weapon otherwise you're just waiting for the enemies to attack you.
>parrying
i think i have like 80 hours in this game and ive never used a shield. they suck
>they suck
no, you're just bad at using them, parrying over dodging makes some bosses way easier
maybe im wrong but i havent ever really tried them. i did a few times when i was starting out but they slowed me down so i never tried them again
you don't need to use them in levels much because with enough DPS you can delete most enemies before they get a chance to attack you, but for bosses they are very good
>they suck
I'm not good at the game but learning to parry properly makes reaching 5BC much easier
>You can break the collector's door
What the frick
He's the Dead Cells npc who tries to israelite you out of your precious cells.
Look at his fricking picture. What does it remind you of?
Learn to parry. Use Gastronomy, Disengagement or any other mutation that helps you survive longer.
Learn to synergize your items.
Use your head.
Become better at the video game.
I know who you meant. I didn't know you could do that. Is there a curse penalty?
Either none or 1 kill from what I remember.
I wasn't implying that. I was just giving some background on that character
>Is there a curse penalty?
No.
What are the top tier weapons and tools (traps and shit)?
I can't git gud enough for the second run through. Once I get a little over halfway there's just too much shit to deal with at once and it just chips away at you till you inevitably die because there's no healing
Fricking this. What do you do when there's so many goddamn enemies? Just run past them and try to dodge as much shit as you can?
>All that fun fluid movement wasted on a sub-part rouge-lite.
get a ranged weapon and shoot shit from far away
By aborting babies, thus the name.
Dead cells difficulty gets moronic after 2 boss cells. It just becomes a chore to play
Game gets so slow and boring after 1bc tho. Lots of hiding behind corners, shooting from afar, using the head as a weapon. Meh.
I love and absolutely fricking hate Dead Cells so much. The perfectionist gameplay is so god damn cheap and bullshit.
Watch some 5BC runs from DocFireBird. He's not amazing, and he has a super aggressive playstyle, but his gameplay shows the extent to which you can dodge and weave through enemies. Also, he doesn't have a facecam, so the content is about the game instead him doing wacky overreactions or whatever.
I thought 1BC was impossible when I first tried it, but now I clear 5BC runs pretty regularly.
