No, it resets when you transition into a new “zone.”
To answer OP’s question, I never got far enough to get married. I started a guided 100% playthrough a while back in an attempt at mastering the game and consuming every last bit of content it has to offer, and by the time I reached the first winter I was so fricking burned out that I dropped the game indefinitely. There is so much cryptic, hidden content though. Pretty wild stuff.
Its more fun when you just wing it, the game is already monotonous as hell so you need those surprises and missteps to keep it interesting.
Perfect example is how I didn't realize you needed to upgrade the hen house before getting the option to upgrade the home, so I was way behind with collecting lumber by the time I realized this and now I have to chop wood everyday like a mad man. Then you gain access to the shopping tv station, but I didn't know the phone to order stuff was all the way at the inn, now I have something else to shoot for.
Basically its a game that expects you to play for 3 years or 12 seasons, and most of the work isn't exactly exciting gameplay, but I think the game hangs it hat on the satisfaction of reaching new goals and discovering secrets along the way. I would suggest using a guide around the halfway mark though, not for the day by day but for learning most of the key points of gameplay and farm building.
>implying children of a remote village in the mountains aren’t all getting shitfaced regularly
Speaking of which, is the HM village connected to any main roads or anything? How the hell do people travel outside of the village? In BtN you can’t even use the pay phone to call your folks back home…
The games just have a chibi art style. Its very rare if at all that you will see a jp title that allows underage drinking. Its pretty much a staple of jrpgs to have teenage protagonists who will at some point wander into a bar and be told that he won't be served alcohol.
Most people I knew in high school were regularly drinking on the weekends after turning 16. Turns out, once you get a vehicle and can hang out with friends after football games no one can really stop you, though most were smart enough not to drive afterwards.
game is actually dating sim with farming being so-called background theme to have strong "world building"
main idea of the game is to have strong and traditional family. which is why girl version of the game ends when you get married; it reinforces idea of woman as house keeper and not food gatherer
I always remembered the N64 game the most fondly, but it could be nostalgia. A wonderful life on Gameube is a strong contender, while most of the newer games look souless.
N64 is better in the the "community sim" aspect, Back to Nature has better farming and longer days. Wonderful Life is great, only problem is that at the end of the game you... Well, you know what's up. PS2 port adds an extra chapter, but it's slow as frick. New games are mostly souless, yes.
They're each different experiences gay. Stardew also has less charm in its characters and setting and mostly goes balls deep on farming efficiency and shit. Never liked the stardew art style either
I remember it being pretty hard to pick as a kid. I think I chose Popuri because she lived on the chicken farm, so I thought it would be cute to marry a farm girl.
apparently girl version of this game is based. game ends after girl gets married. it's a way of saying that women should take care of the house and children, not work the farm. >Festivals are changed to fit the female perspective (e.g. player is allowed to participate in the Goddess festivals). >Courting the bachelors, instead of bachelorettes >The game ends when married >Storyline and the story of the main character changed >House is remodel to fit a female look (blue to pink) >Additional furniture, such as mirrors >Beauty Stars feature is implemented >Doug will be nice to you from the beginning of the game
also this game is one of those rare moments where men got their version translated in the west, but women got nothing. feels good because during the visual novel/dating sim craze of 2000s you often would only get the "girls perspective" versions localized, but never the the original not gay perspective. so having that reversed for once feels great just as bit of payback. and back to nature considered one of the best harvest moon games too!
I think its kinda silly to do that, maybe a guy would want to play the girl version and have his new game+ but can't because Japs fear the career woman and declining birthrate.
Are the newer games really as trash and souless as they look? I would love to see a new harvest moon that stuck to the original vibe and purpose of the game, there is so much room for improvement as far as making the games various activities more engaging.
modern harvest moon is stardew valley. but it's also soulless looking, but it at least TRIES to be retro looking. new harvest moon isnt even called harvest moon anymore, that's how much franchise is fallen
>modern day harvest moon >10 genders >can romance both men and women >pride flags in the church >option to abort pregnancy >option to divorce >child is trans
Don't let the globohomosexual funded devs get their hands on this franchise.
>50% of your income goes to support a country of Isfake that's constantly talking shit about your harvest town as flyover morons >another 20% goes to the homeless guy who been palette swapped to a dark color >farm house replaced with a pod >only food you can grow is onions
As a kid I enjoyed A Wonderful Life, yet it seems to catch a lot of shit online from people who played the other games. Why is that? Never played the others
I have literally never seen a single person shit on this game ever. It is revered as the true vision of the creator of the series and it is the bestselling game in the series
As a kid, I actually believed that hugging a woman could actually make her pregnant. I panicked every time my mom hugged me because I didn't want to have a kid with her. I must have been really innocent back then.
>Playing the Snes HM for the first time >buy a cow >call her MOO >buy another >call her BOO >keeping getting cows and naming them like COO, Too, Noo, Poo, etc
>years later go for a replay >buy a cow >name it Niki or something like that >get a feeling that something doesn't feels right >sell Niki >buy other cow >name it MOO >everything fells right
Based. I named my chickens KFC. KFC, KFC2, KFC3. I always thought it was funny how KFC got buried next to grandpa (I was careless as a kid and often forgot to feed my chickens).
64 has the same cast with different personalities (For example BTN Popuri adopted a lot of 64 Karen's traits of being flighty and wanting to leave the town, in BTN Karen is much more responsible and mature) and different relationships with each other (For example Ann and Gray are brother and sister in 64 and completely unrelated in BTN and vice-versa for Popuri and Rick)
Gameplay-wise 64 is faster paced, the days are shorter and you can't really get as much done in a day but there's less bloat too, like tools just upgrade on their own with use and you don't have to get crafting materials and wait a few days for a blacksmith to upgrade them.
This was my first experience with Harvest Moon. Such a good fricking time, I picked the pink girl too. Me and my brother would take turns taking care of the farm and stuff.
Recently I played Stardew Valley but it really doesnt compare. I wish they would make an actual decent Rune Factory game with better graphics on PC. I played 5 for a few minutes but it just aint the same.
Ann is objectively the best but my heart drew me to Karen. Nowadays I'd probably go with Maria but only if she has good taste in literature
I used to be a Karen gay but after being with a blonde addict with daddy issues that pretty much ruined my life for years I am now completely on team Maria/Mary
rape her
Marry her first. Its not rape if its your wife.
put your penor in her popper
Iranian here, can confirm that Benis is located at the tip.
Just sniff her
Is this the game where the music always resets with every screen transition
No, it resets when you transition into a new “zone.”

No. That would be Digimon World.
Yes and you have to constantly go from zone to zone. A reason why AWL is the best HM
I always wanted to hang with her mom instead.
ann is better
God, I'm so happy that these girls look like they're all underaged...
Natsume really knows their audience
Go back and buy a rope.
I'm not into bondage sicko.
He's posting on /vr/ not /lgbt/
yeah its great
Natsume didn't make the games gay, they localized them (badly). Even misspelled their own name multiple times
how old are they
I assume anywhere between 14-18.
So, 16.
Has to be 20-21+ because you can consume alcohol in the game.
Absolute hall monitor.
moron
>implying children of a remote village in the mountains aren’t all getting shitfaced regularly

Yeah, I believe it. Japs have some pretty wild standards when it comes to depicting degeneracy in media.
Most people I knew in high school were regularly drinking on the weekends after turning 16. Turns out, once you get a vehicle and can hang out with friends after football games no one can really stop you, though most were smart enough not to drive afterwards.
3000 years
and you can actually romance these characters?
I need to sit down and play harvest moon fricking ASAP.
Romancing = Giving girls 150 boiled eggs and a feather
just like real life
game is actually dating sim with farming being so-called background theme to have strong "world building"
main idea of the game is to have strong and traditional family. which is why girl version of the game ends when you get married; it reinforces idea of woman as house keeper and not food gatherer
absolutely fricking kino
you need to have sex ASAP
Old enough to breed.
Rape harem dungeon ROMhack
I figured it out. Had to use the mating press command.
If you want an abortion, go see the pastor and he'll give you a rusty metal coat hanger
How long must I play to reach this part?
A while, but Popuri is one of the easier girls to court so maybe not that long.
which Harvest Moon game is this?
Back To Nature on Ps1
What happened?
what is the best harvest moon? must have cute girls like ann. might play another one over christmas i played btn a while back
I always remembered the N64 game the most fondly, but it could be nostalgia. A wonderful life on Gameube is a strong contender, while most of the newer games look souless.

>play harvest moon
>when stardew valley exist
Why?
They're each different experiences gay. Stardew also has less charm in its characters and setting and mostly goes balls deep on farming efficiency and shit. Never liked the stardew art style either
Unironically you wouldn't get it.
Harvest Moon allows me to romance underage-looking girls, Stardew Valley doesn't.
Now if you could romance Jas...
What is a moron like you doing on this board anyway? Are you lost perhaps?
You can't, it's just like a real marriage.
Uh, you can’t, because that’s my wife? wtf
You can keep her TBHQ.
I remember it being pretty hard to pick as a kid. I think I chose Popuri because she lived on the chicken farm, so I thought it would be cute to marry a farm girl.
All you have to do is dump all points into the consumption of wine. A truly motivated alcoholic should be quite adept at this.
I need a bawd wife so badly
Karen was my fav as a kid but I always liked troubled girls
A picture of a guy looking at a sleeping girl and asking "How do I have sex with her?" is the most Ganker thing I read this year.
bepis in vagene :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I still can't believe STH still has the best graphics in a Harvest Moon game.
It's hard to contend with this box art
in any case. Has there ever been a more accurate depiction of what the games are all about than this?
I think STN takes the cake there, but I like the PAL cover for the SNES game a lot. Has a very tranquil and nostalgic feel to it.
Looks like a 70s horror movie poster.
I don't know how you get that at all unless you've just never left a city.
>>Ganker
I was so confused as a kid when I would see the title harvest moon thinking it was some horror game. God I was moronic.
Kino game when I actually played it

Wish the girl one let you romance women Yuri farm SIM would be based
Genetic dead-end.
It wouldn't be based, it would be extremely cringe.
have a nice day.
There is a well known romhack for this called true love edition (for gba tho)
have a nice day straggots
>separate beds
it's over
HM64 has a single bed you share with your wife
proof
Suddenly I am convinced that HM64 might actually be better than BtN.
I always liked it more. Replayed 64 a bunch but could never get into BtN for whatever reason. I think a big part of it was just the load times.
Do you have any idea if it emulates well? I wouldn't mind giving it a shot if I can play it on my Vita.
Not that experienced with N64 emulation, I assume it emulates fine nowadays though
Maybe I'll play this, hate my N64 because it has no games so it's been collecting dust maybe I got something to play now
Are the newer games really as trash and souless as they look? I would love to see a new harvest moon that stuck to the original vibe and purpose of the game, there is so much room for improvement as far as making the games various activities more engaging.

That's a pretty dumb observation.

I have bad news.
genuinely cant tell if real or joking
real. it already happened. harvest moon is dead its ~~*story of seasons*~~ now
It already fricking happened
The best art style is the snes one. Cute and simple for a simple game.
It's called Stardew Valley.
>pride flags in the church
So it takes place in America?
As a kid I enjoyed A Wonderful Life, yet it seems to catch a lot of shit online from people who played the other games. Why is that? Never played the others
I have literally never seen a single person shit on this game ever. It is revered as the true vision of the creator of the series and it is the bestselling game in the series
No way it's the best selling game in the series. Pretty sure FoMT of BtN are. But it's definitely his creative vision realized of a country life sim.
you can't
Then how is babby formed?
you wish really really hard
They need to do way instain mother
Poorly, that's why you're in separate beds
As a kid, I actually believed that hugging a woman could actually make her pregnant. I panicked every time my mom hugged me because I didn't want to have a kid with her. I must have been really innocent back then.

Noice.
Based. I named my chickens KFC. KFC, KFC2, KFC3. I always thought it was funny how KFC got buried next to grandpa (I was careless as a kid and often forgot to feed my chickens).
>Here's an old pic of my grandpa
>It just changed names.
Yeah, the old localizers owned the Harvest Moon name, so they had to switch to a different name.
I love Back to Nature. Will I like Harvest Moon 64 and what makes it so different from BTN?
64 has the same cast with different personalities (For example BTN Popuri adopted a lot of 64 Karen's traits of being flighty and wanting to leave the town, in BTN Karen is much more responsible and mature) and different relationships with each other (For example Ann and Gray are brother and sister in 64 and completely unrelated in BTN and vice-versa for Popuri and Rick)

what you guys think of harvest moon hero of leaf valley PSP
I didn't play it but it looks good.
Pink.
With Popuri!
No but you can rub one out.
why
which way, /vr/man?
>drunkard
>princess
>farm hand
>trad wife
>book nerd
I'll get the drunkard. May all my children have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
she actually looks like pirate so that's fitting
Obviously the farm girl. There's nothing better than a girl who knows the value of hard work and isn't afraid of a little manual labor.
if you ever pick anything except the brunette book worm in any scenario, you're doing it wrong. that b***h will always suck the shit out of your BWC.
For me? It's all of them at the same time.
that chick isn't very attractive honestly. there are way hotter women. frick science
I've always been torn between Elli and Karen. Karen is the personal preference but Elli is the choice I would make for a strong, healthy line.
I was always a Mary guy and always will be.
I dislike newer SoS and Rune Factory games for not having a Mary-like girl or at least one with glasses.
Nor Mary-like no buy.
Mary defined my taste for women in anime, games and real life.
They put a Mary clone in so many games that they probably thought it was time to move on. In one game there's even Mary AND a clone at the same time.
> In one game there's even Mary AND a clone at the same time.
Nice.
Ann, forever.
I had only played the Snes one. Who is the library girl? Did they replaced the Mayor's religious daughter for her?
Something about Popuri just tells me she's a freak in bed.
Karen probably starfishes.
Ann is objectively the best but my heart drew me to Karen. Nowadays I'd probably go with Maria but only if she has good taste in literature
Elli, simple as
Just imagine her baking you cake and cookies while you work, then cuddling to sleep with her.
I used to be a Karen gay but after being with a blonde addict with daddy issues that pretty much ruined my life for years I am now completely on team Maria/Mary
Its a boy!
Congratulations!
Sex doesn't exist in video games, you donut.
Protects the back of the neck from sunburn if you're crouched down pulling up weeds or whatever all day.
I'm a gardener, can confirm.
I never played a HM game.
Do the female characters sprites change to reflect that they're pregnant?
Nope
I started playing Harvest Moon 64 for the first time. Can I survive just talking to people and forgetting I have a field full or rocks and grass?
