maybe, but if you're the type of gay who's gonna full NEET anyway you're definitely not gonna self improve, unless you count getting really good at jerking off

Lol, the type of people who want to be full time neets aren't the type of people who want to self improve
The real best option is to go neet, then go back to working, then keep going back and forth

    unironically working out.
go to Ganker and read the sticky don't interact with the board unless you're gay which considering you're OP you are a tremendous homosexual

      >unironically working out.
Meme. And I have worked out on and off since high school including the past year. You only feel great for about an hour after the work out then you feel drained and too tired to do anything. Next day you feel like you hit the reset button and you are the exact same way.

Still worth it but normal functioning homosexuals need to stop presenting it like a cure all.

you find another hobby and do that until you get sick of it and then try playing video games after once that happens.

literally me with shooting, dont get me wrong I love shooting but I'm tired of paying $300 minimum to have enough ammo to actually shoot for a while
I'll never get sick of anime and manga though and I actually prefer that over video games these days.

        Anonymous

Same, main reason I had to limit my range time. Simply can't afford to plink and have enough ammo for pest control at home. Still enjoy regular disassembly and cleaning. But it feels pointless sometimes.

          Anonymous

I wish I had a place to plink outdoors instead of standing up and shooting paper either outdoors or indoors
nowadays if I want to shoot I just shoot my carry guns for practice and shoot my .357 magnum revolver to turn heads around

I quit smoking cigarettes, weed, and drinking all at the same time 4 days ago and besides the minor headaches and cravings I’ve felt the best I have all year. I used all the extra time and energy to workout for over 2 hours today and it felt very rewarding. If I can do it you can too

      Anonymous

      Like that does anything
I've been straight edged for life and have been working out regularly for the past year. My body might be healthy but I still sit around and do nothing but think about blowing my brains out every few months.
And I bet if I were to smoke weed or drink it'll just make it way worse.
      I'm just broken

I have one of those cushy wfh coding jobs, so "yes" I work. I work typically 5 or hours a week.
You'd think the suicidal ideation would go away once you get a good job that gives you plenty of time to explore your hobbies and passions and etc.
But like I said I'm broken.

Huh. Well yeah that sounds like a nice gig to have. I work 40 a week and the main thing that gets me down is never having enough time for myself or my hobbies. It feels impossible to enjoy anything during the week when I keep staring at the clock seeing how much freedom I have left for the evening. If you’re straight edge, healthy, and only have to work 5 hours a week and you’re still depressed maybe you’re just an butthole or something

              Anonymous

              >you’re just an butthole or something
To who though? I hardly talk to anyone and the few people I do know hardly know me but think I'm a "good guy." Well, I guess I'm pretty quiet.

I used to do actual physical labor 40+ hours a week and it's terrible. I get what you mean about no time. I fear I have the opposite problem, like what actual NEETs have: too much free time. Some can function and do well, others start to feel at a lost after awhile. Is it just "too much dopamine and fried receptors" or is there something else to it? I don't know. I just know my motivation to do things outside of the own routines is near zero and when I force myself to have fun I end up getting no enjoyment from it.
Guess that's life though. One big balancing act.

Used to skate most of the day, booze and playing music at night. Been doing that since my teens. Not much variety. Not that I can do much on a fixed income.

You can be good enough to skate anything and not good enough to make it. Which made all those years a giant waste of my time. I would say the same about instruments, but I haven't decided yet if I'm on board with hating everything I've done in life.

Passions are a dangerous game. Reminds me of that boomer that said to not follow your dreams or whatever. At a certain point you really just have to become a wagie, but I think it's important to have a job with actual benefits and a salary than stocking shelves or whatever.
I think most people (at least the ones that suck it up through college) do that.

Old dude was probably right. I need to play catch up now and figuring that out when you are so near to 40 is not great.

Better late than never as they say. If it were me I would just think "either do this crap late or continue doing what I've been doing until I die."
Also, there is always someone starting later and trying to catch up with you.

I worked my butt of through college and this was years after working garbage minwage jobs. Only after college and after applying to tons of places did I get my wfh do nothing job. And this was awhile studying computer science and programming in my spare time.
But I'm sure there are people who get these jobs with no effort and without ever working a day before. How they do it? No clue.

Stop fricking going here. Pick up a portable console you can take anywhere. I have a Steam Deck and I’ve been using it non-stop because going to a browser is a pain in the ass so I’m not hooked to Ganker 24/7. And NO, stop making “what am I in for” threads whenever you start a new game, just play it. Don’t play on your PC until you’ve weaned yourself off, block yourself from the website intentionally.

        I know , I know
But I still have the “I’ll do it tomorrow” mentality and I really think I can finish it tomorrow, at least I hope
I already got a room ready to defend and such, and I’m already a good orator, but I’m a little nervous when the day comes

Thesis(es?) are the dumbest fricking thing ever. Why put all 4 years of effort in everything else when everything depends on a stupid essay? And vice versa.
Even if I had the money to do so I would never go to college for this reason.

2-3 years to get a degree for more job offerings, though I don’t even know if I want to work
