left is better
Also I'm dyslexic btw
I think that's the point.
As a still. In an actual game you know the animation would be morph and puppet limb shit.
>we don't live in the timeline where Sparkster is a cute girl
why even bother
self-inserters get the rope.
Android arts? Love his style hope he actually gets a game out at some point.
I actually like the reboot. Game was a cheap budget platformer, but everything worked really well and it had good style.
All they needed to do was make more levels.
>everything worked really well
They managed to make outrunning a growing black hole boring. I could tick off a bunch of other complaints - they were having enemies fade in chameleon-style all through the game when RKA did that cheap trick exactly once, they fell into the idiot trap of making a terrible level where you can't use the signature mechanic 'to mix things up,' and the story is is both overemphasized and entirely up its own ass for a series based on the simple idea that combining swordfights and jetpacks is cool - but the most damning thing I could say about it is that they somehow actually managed to make outrunning a black hole boring.
Still played better the RKA 2,
A lot of things could have been done better, but as a cheap downloadable title instead of a full feature release, I was satisfied with it. The rocket pack was fun to control and even the shitty ice level gimmick had enough of a rhythm to it that made it fun when you had the pattern down.
I wish they hadn't gone for a score attack combo meter especially since parts of the game make it borderline impossible to keep the combo up without doing something finnicky like kiting enemies and micromanaging the timer. But I'll blame that on a consequence of being an XBLA game originally. And needing something to jam into a leaderboard.
>Android arts? Love his style hope he actually gets a game out at some point.
Cortex Command and Planetoid Pioneers exist.
They're both kinda shit.
The final games don't really look much like his concept arts. and He wasn't really involved past the concept art stage from what I understand.
>Planetoid Pioneers exists
You don't know true disappointment unless you were looking forward to these messes. I had genuine fun with cortex command despite its horrendous development but Pioneers was disastrous.
Sparkster has a lot of potential, unfortunantely it is under konami, so it's another IP that just sits around collecting dust.
The original Mega Drive game is very good. But there's nothing particular about the IP or the gameplay elements that would make it have any potential. Either the original devs pick it up and make a new game (if I'm not mistaken a lot of them moved to treasure) or Some random dev picking up the license wouldn't make it a success as there's nothing particular about the game that makes it a successful formula, it's just a well developed platformer, which anyone can do regardless of the IP. And even the SNES games were pretty mediocre compared to the mega drive ones. We also had some western devs pick up the IP a few years ago and it was just a mediocre platformer.
sparksters movement is more interesting than most. I mean fricking mario still gets games despite having the most bog standard boring platforming and yet the new games are still somehow worse than the first game.
>yet the new games are still somehow worse than the first game
nostalgiagays are really funny
>nostalgiagays
What the frick is that supposed to mean?
All the Rocket Knight games came out in 1993 and 1994, except for that shit 2.5D reboot in 2010 which we don't talk about
It's a steampunk animals medieval setting with giant robot mechs, where the knights use jetpacks and sword, what else could you possibly need to make this more endearing for an expanded franchise? There's a lot of good character development and worldbuilding still left to be tapped into.
That's a setting, not gameplay potential
Piles and piles of gaming potential. His rocket boost is rife for exploration puzzles, his armor and weapon should have upgrades or alternates. I honestly feel like he could do everything Mega Man and Sonic did, just better, but he never got the chance. Parry mechanics, dash mechanics, giant robot fights, SHMUP sections, attack modifiers, there's all kinds of things Rocket Knight could add or improve upon. Imagine the game as a grand scale Metroidvania, could be incredible.
I don't give a frick, i'm not a publisher.
>And even the SNES games were pretty mediocre compared to the mega drive ones.
Sparkster on SNES is a good game.
They removed the charm stone system in the remake, fricking idiots.
Wow that's so bad
>SNES Sparkster looks taller and leaner
Because your picture is in the wrong aspect ratio. It's meant to be 4:3 and yours is 8:7
And music.
>Because your picture is in the wrong aspect ratio. It's meant to be 4:3 and yours is 8:7
It's actually meant to be 64:49(or 128:105 if 256x240)
Here's a CRT shot btw, still looks far leaner and dynamic than the slop in the OP
There's a new Rocket Knight collection coming out.
>a bunch of roms and emulators stitched together put up for sale
That doesn't even count as minimal effort.
>roms and an emulator for $20
lol
>WAAAAAH, GIMMIE SOURCE PORTS
Spoiled white homosexuals.
>Muh white boogeymen
You will never be a Black person, wigger
Rocket Knight has such an effortlessly cool setting and premise. I want to know more about the cute animal kingdoms, goddammit. I want to know what their wacky medieval-steampunk warfare looks like. I'd kill for some kind of tactical RPG set in the Rocket Knight universe.
go make porn again, Bellend, you silly boomer.
The one on the right is undeniably better. But it is also unsustainable financially.
Unironically this, but ironically unironically not this unironically, yet it's ironically unironic while maintaining some unironic ironically and... wait a minute.
>he is still posting this unfunny shit
humilliation ritual
now animate the one on the left and dont use live2d or spine
It's not the pixels, it's 2D games in general that don't do as well as 3D. Blame Sony and Nintendo during the N64 era for making the general public perceive 3D as inherently more complex which means it's a "better" game worth spending more money on.
True but regular 2D is still more lucrative than pixel art
I'd say that comes from a place of pixel art being something not too many games will do in the first place, it is its own way of drawing and everything so the skillset of most people isn't there, the 3D equivalent is probably pre-rendered backgrounds which are timeless but also niche enough to not really sell a game by itself anymore.
Yeah as demonstrated by Shartster 3
It would have cost double or looked teice as shit too
Vector art is hit or miss
The example you posted looks like one of the better ones but the facial expression is incorrect compared to the right one
Also the art style is not faithful to the original Rocket Knight for the Mega Drive
I would prefer if it were hand-drawn/painted like the illustrations of the box art
Japanese/European box art of course, frick the American Kirby syndrome the American box art has
Mutts need to be gassed
>hating angry Kirby
Ah yes, the iconic “third worlder opinion” I always ignore.
>Slurping up israeli corporate brainwash
Frick off disgusting 56% mutt
The artist was most likely going for Sparkster's SNES design
That looks even more different
SNES Sparkster looks taller and leaner and more dynamic compared to the OP
Here is what SNES Sparkster looks like in-game pic related
The pic in the OP is not faithful to either the original MD game or SFC/SNES Sparkster
Just not a fan of how he is drawn in the OP
OP doesn't look like anything but i like it, bulky sparkster fits how slowly he moves when he walks.
It's too bulky imo and also the ears not pointing upwards looks like shit
Just goes to show the difference between a real artist and an amateur
Here is what I mean with the ears
The perspective is shit on the right
That's not vector art, buffoon. That's hand painted.
Can you read moron?
I'm referring to the left art in the OP as ''Vector Art'', not the original box art
OP is not vector art either
I'm pretty sure it is
In any case, I don't think it's hand-drawn/painted
Fairly certain that it is computer art
All vector art is digital but not all digital art is vector
Exactly, shitter.
You're wrong about everything except it being digital, idiot.
Keep seething idiot
The only raging idiot here is (you). Calm down already.
Where the frick did they get names like
エレホーン and デボチンドス?
soulless soul
>left
Sauceless and spiceless, reductive in lieu of maximization, gormless, derivative and candidly unimaginative, diluted
>right
Contemplative, hobby-grade definition, mise-en-scene that speaks for itself, future-proofed and anti-digital erosion, cathartic
I bought that game entirely for the visual style
Honestly mixed feelings. Never played it before but I'm glad they added retro mode. It felt more creative, even the music was catchier.
Honestly kind of tired of "high fidelity" pixel art like in picrel. It's not impressive anymore, I'd rather have the left.
Featured in so many games such as..
Sonic Mania, TMNT Shredder's Revenge, Owlboy, Iconoclasts, Sea of Stars, some other games I can't give less of a shit about. They almost look "too clean" and all share the same saturated colors so none of them stick out.
>cope
I wasn't invested in the companies in the first place. Not a cent. Their sales don't affect me whatsoever.
so much better
>braaaaAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPP
yea I dont think OP could have picked a worse example for his argument if he tried. therefore its bait and every one posting in this thread is a moronic homosexual except for me.
That looks nothing like the OP though. Art direction matters, you know, moron?
>muh sales
I don't give a shit
Genesis Sparkster was the only Rocket Knight game I liked and it was the one most different than the first game as the SNES Sparkster was a completely different game that took after the first RKA.
The latest Indie World Direct was a stark reminder of this. They stuffed all the pixelshit at the end in the highlight reel
This is just a cope
The fact is the industry hates 2D games
Cuphead used to be stuffed with a bunch of other indie garbage by Microshit before it came out
The truth is that, that pixelshit doesn't look bad because it's pixelshit
It looks shit because the art is amateurish
>The fact is the industry hates 2D games
Consumers hate 2D. Look what happened to all the companies who doubled down on 2D, they ended up sinking or faded to irrelevancy because people like on this board think it’s outdated
Ironically for most legacy franchises, 2D games tend to sell better than 3D games.
The best-selling mainline Mario game of all time is a 2D game, and that's only the first one.
And whenever a 2D Mario game gets released around the same era a 3D Mario game gets released, it sells much better.
New Super Mario Bros, both the DS and Wii versions separately - outsold both Galaxy games. In Wii's case, it outsold both Galaxy games combined - even if you count the 3D All Stars edition.
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe outsold 3D World + Bowser's Fury as well, despite the latter game narrowly outselling the former back in the 3DS/Wii U days.
Metroids best-selling games are still 2D, and Sonic's best received games tend to be 2D titles. Kirby's first game is still his best-selling title, in spite of Forgotten Land's success. Terraria outsells a lot of indie darlings as a 2D game despite being over a decade year old. Cuphead has sold around 8 million copies in a single game as the developer's first title.
I can't really speak on the behalf of what people's taste are, but saying that the output of 2D games are killing entire companies is a genuine lie.
The graphics for most of the top of that list use 3d models. We're talking about graphics not game mechanics.
>Consumers hate 2D.
Cuphead sold 7-8 million copies between Cuphead and DLC
Sparkster Genesis was peak.
I dunno, I think Rocket Knight Adventures is better.
SNES spinoff has better graphics though
you just know the left one would have been animated in that absolute dogshit-tier cutout/puppet-style instead of frame-by-frame
>normie casualgays hate pixel games
I really don't care frick them. Retro pixel games will always remain my favorite pure games.
If this can be remade then Rocket Knight has no excuse
>Konami
Here's the excuse. According to them your beloved jetpack rat is not even worthy of getting adapted into a virtual pachinko.
I wonder what the budget was for each Tengo Project game...
>Censored garbage
We don't need remakes
Take your goddamn meds
The steam version is uncensored.
A remake is still unneeded
If you want to do a Rocket Knight game, then make Rocket Knight 3
Preferrably with Cuphead-tier traditional animation
Just give a shitload of money to Studio MDHR to make it, frick it
>A remake is still unneeded
New pocky and rocky is a proper remake and not a "remake". I fricking swear those terminologies doesn't mean anything anymore.
It's still a remake instead of a new game
Ganker misusing terms will never end
Stop replying to yourself
Huh?
Nobody was misuing any word.
Now go kys.
Calm down, homosexual.
>Ganker misusing
I wish it were just Ganker. I can blame the greedy developers and publishers just as much. But remake sounds better than "reproduction" or "cover version" I guess.
>Just give a shitload of money to Studio MDHR to make it, frick it
With how long they took to bust out a short DLC? No thanks.
>Conveniently forgets that Covid happened and that they also made the animation even better
Just buy the jap version you twerp
Why should I support soulless Jap studios taking ESG bribes from BlackRock?
They are directly supporting Larry Finisraelite who hates Whites by taking his bribes.
Some other Jap companies like Falcom sold out even harder by making the villains ''White Supremacists'' in the latest Legend of Heroes games even in Japan.
Cope, israelite
Tengo Project is a once in a lifetime miracle, you can't expect others to hold up to that standard. Also that's a sequel, not a remake.
Source for the art?
Snakepixel
Thanks
>Snakepixel
This guy is the one who made that goyslop Chrono Break trailer which didn't capture Toriyama's style at all
He is a complete hack
>sprite that large
>resolution that small
You can barely see shit above or ahead of you, unless you want it to be a much slower paced game relative to the original.
The ideal visual density of a game is not necessarily the ideal density for an art project that you want to have good composition and thumbnail on social media etc
Seething rage at anyone born after me mostly. If you don't like pixel art you're underage.
sales mean literally nothing to me as the end user/consumer
RKA was my favorite Genesis game and my mom got it for me for like 5 bucks out of a bargain bin
Frick I love it
"Pixel art" game is just an excuse for the artist wanting to spend time creating assets more appropriate for a 1080p or 4K display. Frick was I mad when Square Enix stole the term "HD 2D" to mean pixel-shit but in 3d perspective, rather than actual HD 2D.
source?
>a.I generated tweened homosexualry
No thank you
We will genocide you again and finish the job Hadrian didn't, you israelite rat
Amazing how many damn animal mascots appeared after Sonic struck it big.
Eh I wouldn't attribute it to Sonic.
Disney games were a huge thing on 3rd and 4th gen after all, so were Warner Bros. games. Or TMNT etc.
Games were made for children so many of them tended to have cartoon characters and some of those were animal cartoon characters.
That said Sonic was actually a company mascot for Sega like Mario was for Nintendo, Rocket Knight was not a mascot for Konami.
if normies cant appreciate sick pixel art it's not my problem. plenty of non normies do. I'm genuinely tired of modern, overly detailed 3d graphics. 32 bit pixel art and ps1/ps2 style 3d ftw
>technology issue
zoomies fr fr?
Prerendered 3d > Sprites > 3D
>Prerendered 3d > Sprites
Unfair comparison
How about Prerendered 3D vs Prerendered 2D(Cuphead, Saga Frontier 2 backgrounds etc.)?
All 2D game art is pre-rendered by definition
Pixel art is generated in real-time
t. HoMM 3 slav
The right one is better by far and its not even close.
I'm so sick and tired of 2D One Hit Wonder's that are 30+ years old, with no remakes, no revamps, no remasters, no spiritual successors and no plagiarized ideas.
I'm so sick and fricking tired of pass users not being banned.
Stupid namegay
If you want to see how bad this suggestion is go look at wario land shake it.
Is shake it bad?
>wario land shake it
The graphics of that game are well liked
Not my thing, but definitely better than Rayman Origins
>"Rocket Knight HD" released back in 2010
>was intensely mediocre, played it one time and then never touched it again
sadge
The first game is still kino though
Didn't RKA2 have a Super Sonic styled form?
