Indie games are often just worse clones of older games, and don’t have an identity of their own because everything in the indie scene is “a spiritual successor to” or “heavily inspired by” a much better game that the dev isn’t skilled enough to even remotely match or improve on.
Pretty much everything in gaming is a "spiritual successor" to something and was inspired by something. That includes all the most popular and influential titles and your favourite games. You're not saying anything groundbreaking.

That's why I stopped playing so many games a few years ago to focus on more productive hobbies.
I basically don't play games made post-7th gen unless they're indies. Old games, doom wads, and fighting games which you can sink countless hours into are all I play. Modern AAA games just aren't interesting or fun.

I’m not. The big indie platform besides Steam Direct is itch.io, a notoriously leftoid site where the mods intentionally curate the front page to show things like lgbt visual novels. That’s the image they want for some reason, and it’s incentivizing devs to make those things in order to have a greater chance of being noticed. As a result, itch.io is basically a gay pride parade and indie games are all heading in that direction.
