Don't care.
Unironically grew up out of these games.
this remake gave me a midlife crisis. I enjoyed the original not too long ago but i can't do this cringe high school simulator shit anymore
I feel like neither can the devs and that's why we're getting Metaphor ReFantazio before Persona 6
reminds me of Jak 2's city
I could see that
>Metaphor ReFantazio
This is also a dating sim full of teenagers like persona btw
Unless this gets insane review scores, I don't see it selling more than SMT5, along with Atlus getting a wake-up call on why people buy Persona games.
>why people buy Persona games.
why is that
Judging by the fact that half of the thread says they "grew out of it" these people are playing only for the high school dating sim aspect and not the main gameplay.
I don't play it for that. I play it for the time management elements and the addictive gameplay loop, which people on Ganker don't seem to realize is a thing because they don't actually play video games.
Anon Studio 0 is reputable. If a rerelease of Catherine can push numbers, imagine what an ambitious new IP would do.
Take the SMT pill anon
It's true. I played P3 when it released. I was in high school then, and I enjoyed the escapism of pretending I could socialize and make friends/gfs at the time because I was a cringey teenager loser. Now I'm a 30+ year old loser of a different type and this shit doesn't appeal to me at all anymore. I feel second hand embarrassment looking at it.
i don't have a probelm with it,my is something that show up even in others games
This sentiment was caused by social conditioning. You only feel cringe because others call it cringe. Don't let others ruin it for you, anon.
Holy shit this. I wonder how Persona 6 is gonna make me feel.
Midlife crisis is kinda of pushing it bruh, be glad you aren't studying for exams.
It was never for me
Im mildly interested in the new release but wont probably play It.
i'm glad i had my fill of it 'till OG P5, this series will go downhill from here
>newbie thinks he's le epic old boomer for playing "OG" P5
OP is baiting btw, Persona has been mainstream since P3's original PS2 release
Nah, its always been fairly niche. P5 was it's FF7.
>P4 was it's FF7
ftfy
Nah, I mean P5.
I didn't get into this series until after P5 and I barely heard anything about it until P5 came out and literally everyone was jerking it off.
I could count the number of times I heard of Persona or even SMT in general on one hand before P5 came out.
P4 was the first one to get all those spin-offs
I don't think you know what going mainstream means. Spin-offs are irrelevant.
How does me being 10 have anything to do with it supposedly going mainstream with P4? Where was all the coverage? Why wasn't everyone in school playing it? Why did I only see a pedo bear video about P4 in like 2010 and then never hear word of this franchise again until half a decade later?
You might as well be trying to argue FF6 made the series mainstream and not 7.
If Spin-offs are irrelevant how come FF6 didn't get any spin-offs like FF7?
FF7 didn't get spin-offs until after FF11 came out.
P3 also has spin-offs, does that mean it's as big as P4? No.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has it's own NES style spin-offs, is it a mainstream game?
>P3 also has spin-offs
Which didn't come out until after P4.
>Persona 3: The Night Before
>Persona 3 Em
>Megami Tensei Chaining Soul: Persona 3
>Megami Tensei QIX: Persona 3
>Aegis: The First Mission
>Persona 3 Broken Shadow
>Persona 3 Illust Puzzle
All came out before P4. P1 and P2 got a mobile game each too.
>Persona 3: The Night Before
are we really counting flash games as spin-offs?
Yes. I'd count P4's bathhouse peeping game as well.
>I barely heard anything about it until P5 came out
Because you were a child when P4 came out.
i assumed op meant is the special twitter crowd that latched into p5 when it released
You mean P4. That was when people started to say it was better than Final Fantasy which made normie RPG fans play it.
me and the boys moving to METAPHOR franchise till it become mainstream
The choice was P3 or Yakuza. I chose Yakuza.
People without friends are now a common thing so it makes sense.
I tired every entry in the series but after few hours I couldn't handle the cringe of the artificial ingame friendship.
I played P3 when I was about 16, and played P4 on release. I've not touched the series since, and I'm now 30. I'm just not into anime high school settings and all that nonsense anymore, so I don't care that it's becoming popular.
Well deserved. With every other storied RPG franchise shitting the bed, SMT at least found some mainstream success.
What the hell is persona 5 tactica
don't care, i enjoyed atlus's PS2 and handheld games but the company died to me the moment p5r was announced
What's wrong with P5R?
turnslop
Release Catherine Full Body on Steam already, you homosexuals.
Persona 5 alone has sold over 7 million copies since it was released on PS3. It's been mainstream for almost a decade. FF16 sold less.
The same way I feel about Yakuza/LaD going mainstream. I don't particularly care, but man I am sick of hearing normalgays talk about them like they're the God's gifts to man.
Persona has been mainstream since 2006 when 3 came out. It was everywhere.
It absolutely wasn't. Persona until P5 was AA franchise on same level as Tales, Atelier, Ys and Legend of Heroes.
it was worse, it was explicitly viewed as degenerate shit for overweight otaku, while the others you could at least justify enjoying
fatlus was a thing for a reason
5 was persona's guilty gear strive, people saying it's 4 are coping hard (though obviously it did better than 3)
>Ringo's game did better than SMT and P5Tactics
How about that SMT gays?
>etriams combined can't even outpace soul shitters 2
sad!
>becoming
it did 15 years ago
>becoming pozzed and blackrock slave to become mainstream
reminder gatekeeping is good. As long as they're making enough money to keep going, that's good enough
Already did with P4, but they should add more SMT games to Steam in general.
Will the new atlus game also have a fricking highschool setting?
Metaphor? No, it's a fantasy game and rather than the time passing being tied around school life, it's tied to travelling across the game world
no
>Hashino explaining the story and lore.
Why the hell is it so complex? I swear I lost interest immediately.
N….no! My TORtanic! My..,TORtanic……
There's also probably a ton of people playing it on gamepass
I blame Sakurai
pretty shitty numbers for sucha mainstream game tbh, golden had 30k and wasnt even a "remake"
ZAMN Nocturne BOMBED
It was a half-assed port just like P3P's port. Nocturne is only playable with all the hardware-specific visual effects taking up the entire screen on the PS2.
>steam peak CCU
What a virgin ass metric, even below units sold cucks.
EO:HD deserves better.
Most of these came out on Steam much later than they first launched. I had no idea P3P had a Steam release last year, what the frick is that
P3R having that low of a count is kind of surprising.
Also, Persona became mainstream with the launch of P5.
I wish I played these games sooner. I am PC-fat so I always thought these games was either a shitstation or just console exclusives.
