2 is good I guess idk all jarpig slop has the same story
It's a tight game that takes 20-ish hours to beat. Essentially, it's a 32 bit JRPG released for PS1.
I think it's nearly as good as 2.
Theo should have been died because of soul eater.
Nice game that could have used another 5-10 hours of gameplay to put more storyline value to a lot of the 108 characters.
Does anyone actually like 1 over 2 more?
How does 2 get so much liking
I like 1 more. 2 felt more bloated and plodding.
I like 3
I like 3 as well even if it lost some steam towards the end and the OST was lacking compared to the first two games.
Yeah, the last 5 hours kind of sucked but overall I liked a lot of the cast and the story up till then. I wished the series had continued or at least would make a revival.
the creator/main writer/story teller of the series died last feb. the series is dead, jim.
Suikoden 1 has better pacing than 2, even if 2 is the better game. The first couple of hours of 2 are so boring that it has the potential to make someone give up on it.
I prefer 1 because the music is better.
suikoden 2 is better
Suikoden 1, 2 and 3 are a perfect trilogy.
Feels bare bones compared to its sequel
Is Gremio gay?
No he's just Japanese Samwise Gamgee.
>Fatherly love
>Gay
s-so a pedo basically then
He fusses over and dotes on the MC like a mother. Idk if it was their intention but he comes off like a huge gay.
He also enjoys being tickled by Tir.
The intention with Gremio is that he comes across as a weird obsessive guy and fairly pathetic. If you try to bench him on the mission where he dies (because he isn't marked as a mandatory character), he begs to be brought along and says he has no purpose in life if he can't serve you, and then Viktor makes some derisive comment about him.
The way the game leads up to his death is quite brilliant - he starts to fall behind your other characters in terms of his stat growth so that you naturally want to bench him, then he begs pathetically not to be benched, after which Viktor basically kicks him while he's down, and then at his lowest point he sacrifices himself for you, which makes it way more impactful because you the player were probably looking down on him too and yet he willingly dies for you.
Incidentally, nothing in the second game comes close to this, or to the other great pieces of character writing in the original.
Played recently
>forced party members and switches
>easy missable stars
>long travelings times
>limited inventory
>one guy has to be the speed rune holder
>too many benched characters
But i like the exp bonus for low level companions.
Use the real cover art next time
When I first played this, I was wondering when the three headed skeleton was going to join my party.
play bastard bonds
kinda did
typical american philosophy
forgot the pic
wtf is Paul Atreides doing in the top right?
A lot of forced party member, hate it.
Boring. Two was OK. The only one I truly like is the third one.
It starts off kind of boring but ends up being an incredible RPG. Has Gaynami announced a release date for Suikoden I+II remaster?
>Suikoden I+II remaster
Why? You don't like the originals?
Better times, better games. Where developers and publishers were still interested in making good games without political backgrounds, and this game is definitely one of the really good ones.
I love him.
that's it
i might finally have to play it bros
It's worth it, especially since it isn't a big time investment to 100% like other games.
>it isn't a big time investment to 100%
even better then as i'm old
pretty much what i'm looking for what i need
Suikoden 1 and 2 remastered is never coming out. Konami is just going to sweep it under the rug and hope people forget about it. I thought Eiyuden would make them at least post an update but its radio silence as usual.
I swear the remasters are completely and they've just been waiting for when to release them.
I honestly believe Murayama dying pushed the game back for them. Don't want the bad PR of releasing a game to compete with the guy who just died.
When has Konami ever cared about bad PR?
The problem is I think Suikoden is niche enough where the actual fans would get mad over it.
>backgrounds now look like RPGM assets
Frick, not like this. Suikoden 2 seems to have gotten a lot more attention, though.
>You will never lead a coalition of all the nations of the world and burn Harmonia to the ground
And even if Konami moved forward with the franchise, those games would just be an empty husk compared to the original trilogy.
Even if Murayama came back to write, it wouldn't be any good if Eiyuden's story is anything to go by.
I like Suikoden IV and don't think it's a bad game
Should have been a stand alone game also Germio is BEST boy!
It's the only good game in the series
It's aight. Fast battles which can be a rarity for PSX JRPGs. Suikoden 2 also excelled at that.
Just started my first playthrough a couple days ago weirdly enough. I bought a copy for what I thought was a good deal at Eb Games in 2005 and never got around to it. I just got let go recently and trying to find something to play, so I decided on that. I guess the manual didn't come with it. I saw that goes for the same amount that I paid for the game back in 2005 now on ebay
Oh, forgot to mention, is it possible to skip FMVs if needed? My copy has an issue with the Konami Logo stuttering and the opening FMV after that stutters a little in the beginning, but is ok afterwards. Can I open my PSX cover and close it to skip other FMVs (like the FF games) if I come across one that might stutter so much that it will crash the game?
hah, reminds me back in '02 maybe I bought a copy of Suikoden from a pawn shop for like 5 bucks
it also had a copy of Suikoden 2 in the case
Liked it, but perma losses can be a b***h, especially since they keep you out of the good ending. Especially the Pahn duel, where you NEED to keep him up to date in weapons and armor
>the good ending
The 108 stars ending isn't "the good ending", it's a novelty ending for people who have played the game enough times to do a perfect run.
>Especially the Pahn duel, where you NEED to keep him up to date in weapons and armor
On the plus side, keeping him up-to-date isn't a big issue with Suikoden's leveling system.
I usually like jrpgs but I'm not feeling this one. The towns were boring, the combat was just spamming attack and the story wasn't doing it for me either. Granted I only played like two hours.
