Best mainline games in a very long time, DLCs seem like they'll be fun
got back into scarlet recently and I legitimately am having a good time. shiny hunting is satisfying as frick
They're great games, and the next step is Pokémon Up and Down.
I unironically enjoyed Scarlet and I think is a good direction of the series, obviously the game is rather bad in some aspects due gamefreak's usually stupidity and the fact the game is rushed as frick but the core gameplay is more enjoyable than Sword and Shield
the only things that I don't like is the art direction and the LGBT garbage but at least the in second is only contained in characters that only homos and women like
I really enjoyed them, the next step is to put in overworld catching like PLA and to focus on making the world more detailed.
the concepts behind the game like parallel progression tracks and a fairly open world you can navigate via Pokemon are actually pretty appealing, that said the technical state of the game at launch was inexcusable and even after waves of bugfixes it has gone from an extremely buggy, ugly game to just an occasionally buggy, ugly game. the games really fricking reek of just needing more time for QoL passes and more side content
overall, dramatically better than SwSh and even with the blatant, impossible to ignore flaws the mixed up formula for basic gameplay kept my attention better than most recent generations, the franchise is just really fricking stale and needs more experimentation. if they keep going forward with open world type games they also really need to figure out some way to bring back dungeons, there's a few big caves in the game but gliding and wall climbing make them trivial to navigate
The next step was to hopefully fire their "A-team" and put the "B-team" in charge with how PLA managed to raise expectations and SV just shat the fricking bed.
the card game, anime, and merch production were all on schedule and so the game couldn't be delayed any further, people really underestimate the amount of money and logistical footprint involving with the marketing, shipping, and ongoing production with product lines this big and I guarantee there were lots of contracts involved with vendors that would get fricked by pushing back release, stores that carry these products reserve shelf and ad space for these types of releases and having it pushed back fricks up their entire schedule for months
the studio is churning more games faster than ever before but is resistant to getting bigger or outsourcing games unless forced to, its a recipe for burnout and declining quality standards
If PLA became the standard for the series moving forward and each mainline got more time in development there might be a shot at turning this around. But I know better than to get my hopes up for this dogshit franchise. All SV showed shitfreak is that they can continue releasing garbage and pokegays will eat it up.
The next step is actual fricking dev time. There's potential but the thing I enjoy doing most in these games is honestly just filling the dex. The gym quest is boring, Nemona is annoying, the Titans are just discount totems and the Team Star stuff is just okay.
The fact that these games make your switch feel like it's going to melt after like 30 mins of play despite how atrocious these games look and run speaks to the poor optimization.
My Switch shouldn't be screaming in agony 30 mins into these games it's doing just fine with the infinitely better looking and running BotW/ToTK.
I honestly wouldn't mind the badge quest being nixed in favour of something else at this point, Boss Mon being a bigger focus in the next games would be nice. Between Nemona forcing herself on you, the Gym puzzles being lame with few Gym Trainers to speak of and the leaders being pushovers (to say nothing of the absolutely nothing champion that is Geeta) I wouldn't mind Gym Badges being done away with.
I had fun with the game until I started doing the story quests. Running around and catching pokemon unrestricted after leaving the schools was fun. Rushed the titans for Miraidon travel abilities and trying to beat arven with level 30 pokemon was a fun challenge. After I did the gyms in reverse order to be lower level than the twink and MC Ride. Team star bases were a snooze and because of the order I did things only the last Team Star boss had some bite to her. Stopped playing after chanpion fight because I couldn't be asked to push through anymore

Best 3D Pokémon games so far (SWSH sucked, Sun/Moon were good, USUM were insulting after Sun/Moon, Gen 6 was average).
SV post-game is very lacking though, they need to reintroduce some form of post-game PvE Competitive/Repeatable Content such as the Battle Tower (like Gen 2/3/4/5/6/7's or BDSP's, NOT Sword & Shield's).
And no, Academy Tournament and Online PvP aren't the same.
Overall I enjoy them. I worst thing I could say about them is the performance issues, but I never encountered anything worse than some bad frame drops. The subject has also been covered to death already, so there's nothing worthwhile I could say about that.
I enjoyed the story for what it was, I was pretty engaged with learning about and exploring Area Zero despite already knowing about the paradox pokemon.
I really like some of the new pokemon and having the option to do the gyms in any order was nice even if the game clearly has an order in mind.
I liked it more tthan any of the other 3D games except for maybe PLA. I realise thats a pretty low bar to pass, but it is what it is. I still think Pokemon works better in a 2D environment. It's sucks BDSP are so bad because that's how I'd like Pokemon games to look (except less shit)
Unironically loved it. Hope they make more with the same mechanics going forward but add the capturing from Arceus and fix the fricking bugs, graphics and performance
>lazy, badly designed
these two aren't true though
yes it's ugly
yes it runs like shit
but it's not lazy and it's not badly designed
you're just looking for something to seethe about so you can fit in
>What is the next step from here?
Even worse quality on an even more ambitious project that ends up undercooked because they have barely time to make game.
Not to mention that gamefreak is talentless
I don't think it was laziness more than just general incompetency. Take a look around at most big time game studios now, their games are flopping all over the place in the last 3 years let alone the last 5.
Gaming in general needs to crash for a little bit so devs and their teams can pull it together
I think Area 0 proves they can make interesting linear routes so I wish the next game will be mostly that for the whole game. Paldea ain't bad topographically but it lacks any memorable landmarks and it never felt like the world had secrets beyond the 4 ruin treasures. The game would have probably been better if we didn't have mounts and free wall-running/gliding. Also they somehow ruined pc box loading and that's unforgivable
Not even taking into account the sheer technical incompetence, SV are devoid of any fun gameplay and content. The only good writing in the game is Arven and Team Star's backstories. Seriously the final battle is against a fricking computer program that we just learned existed 10 minutes prior. The game sucks, no two ways about it.
i really liked them. the next step form here could be a world that level scales with you. that way no matter which order you visit the gyms in they wouldn't be drastically over or under leveled for you.
Love them more than gen 4,5 and even 6
>6
>even
yup it’s time to go back
I'm p sure i played more pokemon games for longer than you have kiddo
Sorry your nostalgia blinds you
yup, really thinking you need to go back
>How’d that happen…?
morons, zoomers, or both
>moron calling anyone else moronic
Best mainline games in a very long time, DLCs seem like they'll be fun
I have a 2 digit IQ so I really enjoyed these games.
SV marks a new low. But you’ve seen nothing yet. Pokegays have shown they’ll accept anything.
Better than SwSh and BDSP, on par with XY, and worse than everything else.
I really liked XY but hated Scarlet/Violet
Not being able to change or buy different outfits besides accessories and different variations of the school uniform was a huge mistake.
the concepts behind the game like parallel progression tracks and a fairly open world you can navigate via Pokemon are actually pretty appealing, that said the technical state of the game at launch was inexcusable and even after waves of bugfixes it has gone from an extremely buggy, ugly game to just an occasionally buggy, ugly game. the games really fricking reek of just needing more time for QoL passes and more side content

I played SWSH more than this thing. I will see if the DLC can fix it but I don't feel like going back. No this is not a bait.
The next step was to hopefully fire their "A-team" and put the "B-team" in charge with how PLA managed to raise expectations and SV just shat the fricking bed.
im 100% convinced they were expecting sv to undersell after pla and that's why the game came out in the state it did
the card game, anime, and merch production were all on schedule and so the game couldn't be delayed any further, people really underestimate the amount of money and logistical footprint involving with the marketing, shipping, and ongoing production with product lines this big and I guarantee there were lots of contracts involved with vendors that would get fricked by pushing back release, stores that carry these products reserve shelf and ad space for these types of releases and having it pushed back fricks up their entire schedule for months

I don't give a shit anymore. Only spinoffs are worth a damn in this franchise at this point
Better than SS but still terrible.

I couldn't get into it
Played about 20 hours but wasn't having fun
Open world kills my motivation with games
I had fun with the game until I started doing the story quests. Running around and catching pokemon unrestricted after leaving the schools was fun. >How do you feel about these two Pokemon titles?
Same feeling since XY: "god, I wish they worked at least one extra year on this title".
They're great games, and the next step is Pokémon Up and Down.

>How do you feel about these two Pokemon titles?
Same feeling with Gen 5: "god, I wish they worked at least one extra year on this title".
This.
Then, shills defend it so much. Ask games anually. Ask for remakes the same fricking year... we have to blame both the fandom and TPC.
I found them to be decent, but nowhere near as good as the older games (Gen 1-4).
I really enjoyed them, the next step is to put in overworld catching like PLA and to focus on making the world more detailed.

Maroon and Indigo
Johto remakes.
next gen, or the one right after, will be an idle game
Unironically loved it. Hope they make more with the same mechanics going forward but add the capturing from Arceus and fix the fricking bugs, graphics and performance
good games, but needed at least 1 more year of development time
>people unironically enjoy this lazy, badly designed, graphically ugly, poor performing slop

>laziness is the only reason a game can be broken
It's better than any of the 3ds games and definitely Sword and Shield
Anon, people can enjoy literally anything. Quality is not an objective measurement of fun, an inherently subjective opinion.
>What is the next step from here?
Even worse quality on an even more ambitious project that ends up undercooked because they have barely time to make game.
Not to mention that gamefreak is talentless
Good ideas beyond mediocre execution bordering on bad game design
There's fun here and there to be had but it's obvious the Devs flunked at several points in this game development cycle
I don't think it was laziness more than just general incompetency. Take a look around at most big time game studios now, their games are flopping all over the place in the last 3 years let alone the last 5.

>only two thirds of the story presented in the game is good so overall it's bad
i really liked them. the next step form here could be a world that level scales with you. that way no matter which order you visit the gyms in they wouldn't be drastically over or under leveled for you.
It's better than 8 (minus PLA) and 6, that's about it
