New ability that makes him eat opponetn's consumable item on entrence
>consumable
It would be funnier if it wasn't even limited by that, just straight eats your opponent's items on switch-in.
Stockpile on switch in ability
Somewhat tangential but Stockpile/Spit up/swallow should've never been separate moves. I get what they were going for but it's not worth it to have all those moves on your team.
stockpile didnt even raise defenses gen 3. I dont know what dev thought spending 3 turns charging up a big heal or attack was a good idea
It’s mostly just swallow being shit. Why is swallow with 1 stockpile WORSE than regular recovery moves?
It should be
Swallow with 1 stockpile: 2/3 recovery
Swallow with 2 stockpiles: 100% recovery
Swallow with 3 stockpiles: 100% recovery + status healed
Also spit up bp should be buffed to 150/300/450
Stockpile should really just be an ability that activates at the end of each turn or something.
New ability that makes him eat his opponent on entrance.
Something like Dondozo and Commander. Give it a move that lets it eat it's partner in doubles and give itself a +2 to everything, be unable to switch, and heal for its partner's remaining health. You'd still be held back by needing to waste a moveslot on it, and you'd have to take a turn to set up. That said, you could still have the partner attack first, then get eaten later that turn so there's that I guess. Once Swalot faints the partner would pop out, like Tatsugiri.
>Once Swalot faints the partner would pop out, like Tatsugiri.
Based until this part, partner should either faint after being eaten or start using Struggle on Swalot.
I think if the partner fainted, then it wouldn't be worth it. Look at things like Explosion; even a move like that is rarely worth using and it's better than a +2 omni boost to one Pokemon that then locks you into a 2v1. Now, if your partner fainted, but then you could switch another Pokemon it, that might be worth it.

Evolution
+50 speed
new ability that makes the user always have 2-3 stockipiles, this wouldn't give it buffs to def/spdef though
Recover
There is nothing to fix, he's a champ and a bro.
Swalot is hidden gem in Hoenn.
Damn extensive movepool both via level up and TMs, overall pretty balanced stats with focus on bulk, two easy to mitigate weaknesses.
The only problem is that it's rare encounter on one route so unless you specifically target it, you'll probably miss it.
I was surprised actually, I thought I would have to drop it mid game but he made it to the end.
New ability: Ravenous (immediately eats its held berry upon entering battle. If this pokémon makes contact with the opponent and they have a berry equipped, it is immediately consumed too)
Sticky Hold now prevents Pokemon from escaping if they make contact with the user
New ability: Aftertaste
>After consuming a berry, Swalot will receive the effect of that berry at the end of every turn until it switches out.
Use this with Sitrus and you can recover 25% every turn. Alternatively, you could use the Kee or Maranga berries to have constant Defense/Special Defense buffs.
Evolve it again. It looks like it could be an NFE
>Stockpile limit increased to 6
>Stockpile gives 2 stacks per use
>Stockpile automatically eats your berry when used
>If Stockpile eats a berry, you get 4 stacks instead
>Spit Up/Swallow still maxed at 3 stacks
As far as Swallot specifically, he ought to have a Poison version of Pixelate or Aerilate. Also, Garbodor, Muk, Wheezing, and Swallot all need third evolutions.
Eats opposing trainer on switch-in.
give it a higher attacking stat, at least 105
and also like 10-15 extra points in defenses
and maybe a signature STAB move that drains health
-40 speed
-50 special attack
+50 HP
+40 attack

like others said giving it an ability that lets it "eat" the opponent's item (disabling it for the rest of the match. Since we're most likely getting megas back letting it disable the opponent mega/primal could be a big thing and would let it shine.
Unironically: use him in a Violet playthrough and not on smogon. You can find gulpin early, and it learns good moves early on (yawn, toxic), an dit has a really fast leveling rate in the early game.
At higher levels you can have fun with Stuff cheeks+ your berry of choice + belch + recycle
Not every pokémon needs to be competitve qnd can just be niche picks for your playthrough.
New ability has it eat hazards on entry, and the more hazards the higher the stockpile number it gets from eating them.
You can't fix it. It was only created as a lazy muk clone but ugly and worse.
Give it some version of gulp missile that triggers on poison moves
Gulp Missle
+10 Speed
