Everyone saying solid rock is an idiot, that didn't fix Rhyperior, and it won't fix Bastiodon, who's issues are >horrid typing >no offense >low HP >no recovery
If it's meant to be a wall, it should get some kind of recovery (slack off, I guess?) on top of some kind of ability or move that doesn't make it blatant setup fodder. I think the best option is a Rock type body press signature move. It should also get an ability that either boosts its defense/spdef on switch in, or boost it when it's HP drops below a certain point, alternately if we go off the Pokedex entry, maybe a massive damage reduction on contact moves, or outright immunity to the first contact move that hits it upon switch-in. Also give it Explosion.
Now you have something resembling a tank that can set entry hazards, can heal, isn't completely passive with a powerful stab rock move off of it's Defense stat, can use it's dual stealth rock resist and ability to find ample chances to swap in on a predictable physical move, and can explode in a pinch.
That being said Bastiodon is fricking hideous and should be forgotten.
Solid Rock (Ability)
Solid Rock reduces damage from super-effective moves by 25%. For example, a move that would do 2× damage will do 1.5× damage instead.
But there's nothing to fix. His time is to knock out an opponent with Mirror Shield (or whatever it's called) whilst holding a Focus Sash and then die.
I'd retcon the frick out of the Rock type requirement to start and then change up their stats. Massive improvement and it would cram a sock in the mouths of everyone who said Pokemon like Bastiodon and Aurorus are unsalvageable.
Also Bastiodon getting Body Press in gen 9 after someone said it shouldn't because "it went extinct for a reason" was the beginning of a total shitposter death, with pic-related being the buckbreaking.

Reminds me of the dumbass suggestions for Aurorus to have the same exact ability. People see a typing that's bad for a slow Pokemon and automatically think "this Pokemon is le weak to everything so it should have Solid Rockerino".
Why the frick would someone want to take away Snow Warning, especially considering that Hail was changed to Snow and that it now increases Defense by 50%? Yes Aurorus is not considered good even in a playthrough (sad face) but you'd be taking away the team support it can provide (even having Aurora Veil as of gen 8), 100% accurate Blizzard spam for five turns, and its 72 Defense (which people say is low) being 108 for five turns. And Aurorus doesn't have any reliable HP recovery nor is its bulk high enough (92 Special Defense and 72 Defense are not enough).
Solid Rock would make Aurorus worse and take away everything I mentioned from it, which is something I'd hate to see and would make me sad. If you really want to "save" Aurorus than change its typing, which I'd suggest would be Ice/Electric considering what causes auroras. Yes it would have one less resistance but there's be no double-weaknesses at all and it would have STAB BoltBeam. Aurorus also learns a few Electric type moves and it doesn't even look like it would be a Rock type Pokemon anyway.
>Abilities
Regular: Solid Rock, Bulletproof
Hidden: new ability - Fortify. Any turn the user does not take damage from a move, 1/16th of the user’s HP is recovered.
For example, if Bastiodon successfully Protects itself, it recovers 1/16th HP at the end of the turn. If the opponent spends a turn setting up stat buffs, Bastiodon recovered 1/16th HP. >Stats
Without changing BST:
-15 Speed
-10 Special Attack
+25 HP
>Rock type version of Body Press
Frick no. The only reason Body Press is balanced is because it can be nullified by switching in a Ghost type.
Take the modern Pokemon approach and minmax it by dropping its SpA and Speed to 5 and investing all the leftovers into HP, give it Heavy Metal as an ability option and give it a recovery move. If it's meant to be an unreasonably tanky piece of shit whose damage comes from Body Press, Heavy Slam and Metal Burst, then by god, let it be just that.
Shore Up should become a TM and be distributed to all of the defensive Ground types, Rock types, and Steel types who got completely fricked over because they have almost no recovery, outside of Leftovers.
Honestly I don't know why ROM hacks usually don't bother with this. If you're going to make Ledian Bug/Fighting, then surely you can do something for Bastiodon.
This thing is bulkier than Toxapex on a surface level. Could work from there and just give it hazards, Regenator, a healing move, and a decent status inflicting move with a good PP count.
Raise attack stats. Give him an attacking move that does a Recover at the end of it (50% of user's max HP, not damage-based). Then you can use it as a wall that packs Assault Vest and still gets to recover.
strong jaw
Play GBL
>Unironically telling someone to play Pokemon Go PvP
Rock/Steel types exist purely to piss off Normal-type only players like me
>every normal type can and usually does carries fighting/ground coverage
>magic bounce
>king's shield
>slack off
>slightly more health... in fact a flat BST boost to all fossils
>BST boost to all fossils
I'd like Rock to get the boot as well.
an ability like disguise except it regenerates if you switch it out, call it last bastion or something
Ugliest fossil to date. Unfixable
>she has yet to see the "fossils" from gen8
ngmi
I'd take two more generations of those abominations over this fricker. At least being an abomination is the whole point of them.
Bastiodon looks cool, frick you Black folk.
Solid Rock (Ability)
Solid Rock reduces damage from super-effective moves by 25%. For example, a move that would do 2× damage will do 1.5× damage instead.
Swap SpDef with Spe and give it Heavy Metal
Attacks that deal super effective damage to Bastiodon deal 200% of the damage back to the opponent
But there's nothing to fix. His time is to knock out an opponent with Mirror Shield (or whatever it's called) whilst holding a Focus Sash and then die.
>base 60 hp
>metal burst returns only 1.5 damage
>no decreased priority
>fails if opponent is behind a sub
bastiodon was dead on arrival
+30 HP, Solid Rock ability
And if we're buffing the gen 4 Fossils give Rampardos +30 SPE and Rock Head
Sir, this is a Rampardos-fixing board
I'd retcon the frick out of the Rock type requirement to start and then change up their stats. Massive improvement and it would cram a sock in the mouths of everyone who said Pokemon like Bastiodon and Aurorus are unsalvageable.

Wait a second, I forgot rock does not resist rock, throw my entire post in the garbage.

I think every Rock type ought to get Slack off, quite frankly. Anycase, great post.

Invent Body Press in gen 4
Give it an ability that makes physical attacks work using physical defense.
REgenerator
It would be the only mon with stealth roCK and regen That's A nichE
What's with those wacky random capitalisation, anon, ya big goof?

-40 special attack
+40 HP
solid rock
Elaborate
Just raise it's attack by 20
>Rock type Recover
>New Ability: Tough Coating: Halves Super Effective damage
Shore Up should become a TM and be distributed to all of the defensive Ground types, Rock types, and Steel types who got completely fricked over because they have almost no recovery, outside of Leftovers.
I would give it 20 more hp, and an ability like Shed Skin so it can spam rest, there fixed
>shit stats
>beyond garbage movepool
I fix it by removing it from my team and using Probopass which is better on all front.
Honestly I don't know why ROM hacks usually don't bother with this. If you're going to make Ledian Bug/Fighting, then surely you can do something for Bastiodon.
give it an ability that says
>this pokemon can only take damage from moves that make contact
Make non-contact moves do 50% and it's reasonable
new ability: Normalize, except on the opponent
It sounds really good. Its lack of everything wouldn't be a problem anymore. It even gets Foul Play to deal with physical sweepers.
Best fix so far.
Aurorus is garbage, forgotten and will never get anything to make it decent at best. Move on anon
>Move on anon
Nah I actually give a shit about Aurorus, nor do I use Reddit.
It's unfixable just like Aurorus. Slow Rock types are dogshit. Basically only Rock/Grass and Rock/Flying work defensively.
>It's unfixable just like Aurorus
Reddit is back that way with your pessimistic shit.
>machop used karate chop!

Doesn’t need fixing.
+30 HP
new ability that reduces 4x effective moves power to x2
Flip its stats on their head.
>65 HP
>125 Attack
>90 Defense
>30 Special Attack
>90 Special Defense
>95 Speed
Same 495 BST
Bastiodon has a very weak defensive typing, with TWO 4x weaknesses, so it needs to be an offensive mon. Think Weavile.
Other than that give it Rock Slide, Crunch, and Zen Headbutt, preferably by level up.
Sturdy is actually a pretty good ability so it can stay as is.
