How do you guys deal with being scared in horror games?
I really want to play Silent Hill but it's too scary. I can't play it for long.

Constant exposure to the horror genre in both game and movies numbs you.
Gotta play it boyo.
youll get used to it, the game have high replayability
If you think this is scary then you're going to love this next one, it's called being African American in a white man's Amerikkka.
You embrace the fears, instead of fighting them.
I'm not ashamed to admit that first time playing the classic SH games and such, I could only play like 30 or so minutes at once before I had to take a break to cool my nerves.
But I pushed on, and it was damn worth it. I've now beaten the first two SH games a good 30+ times, each.
If a horror game does not scare you at all, they are not doing their job right.
basically what this guy said, plus the game have multiple ending so theres more incentive to go back in
its just a bideo game, they can't actually hurt you
even something horror lite like F.E.A.R. makes me shit my pants
Play with someone else. Or become so jaded and fricked up the enemies make you laugh.
Does anyone have that Silent Hill starting guide infograph?
here you go, I don't have the copypasta tho
widescreen will crash one cutscene i know of in SH
Play it with someone else in the room or stream it, the scariest part for me is playing alone
Horror games succeed because of the fear of the unknown. However, in videogames you can have the unknown become the known. Scary noise? Walk towards it. Scary enemy you're running away from? Let it catch you so you know what happens and reload a save.
This will make these games a lot less scary.
how does anyone find silent hill 2 scary lmao how many times do you have to beat up the same three enemies with a lead pipe in a narrow hallway before you quit acting like a b***h lol
That's why you play the game. For that exact feeling.
>Silent Hill
>too scary
What the frickety frick?
the gameplay and controls are nightmare fuel.
>the gameplay and controls are nightmare fuel.
no arguments? you know I'm right.
I don't mind being scared in games but I need there to be a rhythm of tension and relaxation. If it's just full fear 100% of the time then I'm not touching your uncomfy shit. Frick you, Outlast.
SH is pretty good with that, there's usually a little downtime after each boss
