How do you play this game?
I'm on normal but somehow I just fall behind really fricking bad. I play on the slowest speed, and I try to colonize and explore as much as I can, but it seems I get fricked.
Is it just bullshit AI or am I moronic?

I don't think anyone even remembers this game isn't stuck on epic anymore.
I didn't even know they made a fourth one until now
game must be bombing hard cause all the YT shills follow are making sponsored vids about it now, idk why but for some reason game seems numbingly boring i cant watch it longer than 3min
I forgot there was a third game, let alone a fourth.
The problem with making sequels to a perfect game.
Its been ages since I played them but I thonk I liked the first one more.
>This is the epitome of AI generation in games.
I have played only GalCiv3, the AI is so abhorrently annoying I have rage quited many times
>Is it just bullshit AI or am I moronic?
If it takes after Galciv2, it's bullshit AI. When you say you fall behind, what kind of start do you have? Usually I end up pretty well but one time I was playing as the Flood knockoff and was stuck in some galactic ghetto with 8 other civs nearby who grabbed all the systems.
I too think Galciv3 sucks, but 4 is better.
I'm not doing so bad, compared to my neighbors, got decent science, production, economy, even built a decent military, but compared to me they have some "Faction power" shit I don't understand and it makes them have double or triple my score.
What the hell?
Faction power is an average of the other ratings. If their faction power is higher than yours, they can probably make up for weaker areas if pressed - like if you declare war and they suddenly turn all production to military.
>game 2: whackos come from the future warning about a terran crusade that will ruin the galaxy
>game 3: crusade
>game 4: ...everything is fine
I knew those bugs were full of shit
never trust a time traveller
Worth getting on sale? Doesn't seem all that wildly popular.
i just finished a game of galciv3, been playing this shit since 1, i loved that and 2, i guess it had more flavor for me then, now it seems like it lost s0vl
what you want to do is setup a production planet, research planet, and income planet, pref in diff systems. they should have the best quality obv for maximum tiles, aim for some early wonders too, what you want is to have planets that are tiled in such a way that you can place the thing that gives raw prod/research/income at the center so you can feed adjacency bonuses to it
dont bother with tiny, small ships they suck. mass produce mediums with decent weapons once you get techs
you dont want to war with everyone here, since space is wide, you usually get flanked. keep at least one neighbor on your good side, pref with the same ideology as you
you want to snowball your population, its the surest way to win. modifiers can be deceiving, but pops are what give you most raw prod/tech/cash. goodluck
It sounds like Stellaris.
Looking at 4 features, it seems like they were really inspired by Stellaris.
A lack of soul has always been one of GalCiv's main issues. GalCiv 2 is probably one of my favorite games of all time but it's like a complete vacuum of soul.
In fact I'd argue that's kind of a general issue with Stardock as a developer. They're not bad at making games (most of the time anyway) but they really suck at making them interesting in ways that go beyond pure mechanical design.
Is GalCiv 3 good? I never played 1 or 2.
Yes. The biggest advancement 4 has over 3 is the colony-core system that cuts down on planet micro massively.
Is this the one with AI generated factions?
Yes, in the sense that you can use AI to make new ones for you
The ship designers are dangerous for me. I've spent more time creating vessels than actually using them. And still the designer needs more parts and better usability. It's surprisingly easy to create a monstrosity thats gribbled to hell. Clean lines functional aesthetics are harder. Especially with all the round alien parts. Terran stylesets are still easy (Thats why I use them. + the human supremacy).
Best part of the games. Too bad I'm shit at it.
1 week, no posts, thread still alive. dead board.
Got a new patch tho. Looks good so far. Proper war-peace -system is something these games have needed since the second game.
