It doesnt need saving, the games are good.
What it needs to change is the industry so it rewards the good games and not the ones that get "marketed better".
Stop making it exclusive to PlayStation for a year and release it in PC/Xbox at the same time. Maybe you would have got some money from me if I could have bought it when it first came out now I might pirate it because I have to wait a whole goddamn year and by that point I'm not even going to be interested so I might not even play it
if 7 remake was one fricking game instead of 3 games split over a decade it could have sold a trillion copies. Nobody is buying a frickin 3+ part installment remake
Then enjoy waiting 20 years for the game >b-b-b-but just make it more le....stylized.............and just le better graphics.............
Whats the point? just play the og by then.
I can just assume that the existence of this faithful remake from the same company as FF7R and in the same month absolutely infuriated you to no end, then.
Don't most series installments tend to sell worse with each iteration? I know there's weird exceptions here and there, but that usually feels like the case. It's also rough because the smaller the install base was from the previous games, the less likely you are going to have willing buyers for the later parts. Part 3 might do pretty badly if they don't include some collection for it, and that's going to be a pain, because most likely Part 3 will not be coming until the next generation, and that means they will have to port the previous games to the new console. Man, this is such a frickup.
Not at all. The open world and the several hours of cutscenes, visuals, voice acting, and music makes this game's budget probably more than double than that of Remake's.
The only shared assets with Remake are the character models, combat system, and some of Midgar but that's it. The rest of the content is wholly original and it dwarfs the content from Remake, which means SE just lost a SHIT ton of money (lol).
Imagine they weren't moronic and had just made a normal Remake from the start
its like they learned nothing from FF13 where its sales peaked with the first game but it had a huge drop off for the two that followed because most people didn't like how the first turned out
its not like it needed to be a trilogy, its filled with mostly padded out bullshit but I guess they have a fetish for multiple disc or something
Capcom made Mega Man 11 on a budget, it generally was very well-liked outside of some problems with the soundtrack, and it made a very reasonable profit.
And that's for Mega Man. A franchise that, as loved as it is, is nowhere near as deified as FF, and VII is the most popular game out of all of them.
It can't even be called a remake in my opinion. Then they further blunder with exclusivity and breaking it up into multiple parts. This fricking thing will cost $300 to play when you include all the DLCs and that's not counting the three consoles it's going to be spread across.
its gonna be interesting seeing where the series is at years from now when they cant abuse nostalgia for the earlier games
zooms grew up with 13 and 15 so they're fricked because those games are trash, its just gonna be a MMO ip to most people at that point
I don't think this is that big of a deal because SE probably got some Sony money for timed exclusivity, but if you just wanna coom to numbers, they should have released these games on everything and then milk Sony or whoever the frick would be willing to play for exclusivity.
I don't think it's that bad though, since XVI and VII Rebirth reviewed pretty well and word of mouth around them is generally positive.
I am genuinely curious if XV really damaged the FF brand that much despite sales, or if the game has a very big following of fans that refuse to touch anything by SE that is FF but isn't like it.
It is a big deal because they've missed out on the hype a simultaneous launch would have brought. It could potentially have massive downstream effects from lower DLC sales to part 3 sales being even lower. For part 3 Sony could even come to them and say part 2 sales sucked so we're offering you less for the part 3 exclusivity.
idk, I think XVI is going to be more affected in the PC-world than VII Rebirth is. Rebirth reviewed better and is praised more. I think XVI is the best mainline FF we've gotten since 2000, but I have problems with it, and I think everyone that really wanted to play it got a PS5 already.
Only time will tell I guess, but yes, coming off of XV, which reviewed well and sold a lot, but as time went on got more and more criticized by fans, and taking exclusivity money was pretty bad. These games show that they've gotten better since their XIII-XV days, but locking them to a single platform was a bad move.
The one silver lining is if Sony locked a lucrative exclusivity deal for the entirety of the Remake project + keeping it out of Xbox.
XVI was that good? I've heard it was terrible. But I do agree that it's going to be impacted. I can see its PC launch getting delayed in order to push out Rebirth for PC once exclusivity is up just to try to get the sales to somewhat respectable numbers.
XVI has problems, namely pacing (like most JRPGs), the combat is good but I don't like that despite there being quite bit of mechanical depth you can boil it down to staggering an oponent and memorizing a rotation that does a lot of damage, some subpar Eikonic feats, and basically spotty writing for characters like Jill who is very likeable, but has gotten a bad rap of being useless in a gameplay and narrative sense.
Yoshida always talked about this being a "true" action game and about XVI basically being the polar opposite of XV, which in some ways was to its detriment.
To some people the story never lives up to what you experience in the demo, but I really liked it, I liked the characters overall, and focusing so much on Clive was bold but it's very easy to love the guy.
Man i just seethe thinking about how they could have done a 1 to 1 copy with upgraded graphics and expanded the disc3 content which feels rushed and clearly was just tied up and shipped (BTW all ps1 FF suffer from the same issue) and it would have sold a bajillion copies.
Fan projects don't do shit. Again it would have been much cheaper, it would have preserved the kino story and you had plenty of room to expand the rushed ending.
The story is still kino, the gameplay is better, and no, not because I dislike turnbased, but because I dislike this specific flavor of early 3D FF turn-based where shit is a slog because they were cooming to the cuhrazy 3D animations they could now do, the characters are all incredibly well-written and elevated, the materia system is elegantly integrated and the music is godtier.
The one negative is that it doesn't have the SOUL the PS1 still backgrounds lended VII's JP cyberpunk aesthetic.
Also >FFVII remake project >SE not funneling several third world countries GDP into it
Pick one.
You said it. It doesn't have SOUL.
BTW I don't mind people that enjoy it, but don't lie to yourself the story gets crapped on with all the ghost jannies , the padding and the sephirot dickriding.
It has SOUL. Rebirth is one of the few games I've played in recent years where you can just tell the people that made it were in love with this remake and the original.
Time ghosts are mostly a Ganker meme and autistic screechings from purists that never read interviews where they talked about what they intended to do with the Remake, from people that don't know what "remake" means, and autistic purists.
I mean it isn't without faults. That's true. And as I said, the aesthetic of the original is pretty much unmatched, even if this game is still a sight to behold. The fact that 5% of the story focuses on meta bullshit doesn't detract from it being good, or not being basically 1-1 with its OG counterpart.

Again, you're missing the point anon. The original was kino because its like BAM BAM BAM. The new ones are crap because they are padded to hell and back. The time jannies are just the most obvious example, but it's just if you tried to strech a good 2 hours movies into a 3 season show. It just doesn't work

I knew as soon as there were hours of side quests between the first two reactors in the first game that there was something seriously wrong with this shit. Padded isn't even the word for it.
>Turn based >Retro style >No more emo shit >Ignore all FF7gays, they are posers and only want reddit coins and likes
I save FF. Next question dear anon
Let Nomura make a mainline game
I don't buy the whole ''he was too lazy to finish Versus'' thing like his team kept getting poached for other projects like the MMO when it shat the bed, he was still working on garbage KH sidegames plus the CT engine fricked up what they were working on etc
or just find some other Sakaguchi tier ideas guy because YoshiP just wasn't it, however there's another problem of not being able to tard wrangle when your company is mostly morons
I don't think it's so much laziness as being spread thin and the project's scope being too big and unfocused. This was if not an an open world game, a very big game mayba a la XVI where you go to different countries, narratively it was described as dark, etc.
I believe that Nomura, working on like 3 fricking KH games at the same time for 4 different systems (Coded became Re:Coded), the whole Fabula Nova Crystalis thing being dropped quickly after people hated XIII, I think they just wanted to get XV out, and Nomura resents it to this day. If he didn't, he wouldn't be inserting it into KH.
the worst decision he made is the game being open world with seamless traversal to try and push PS3 hardware. it just really slowed development on top of being spread thin
Design it so that making $100 million dollars isn't considered a bad thing.
Do snoystation owners know that you don't get 70$ profit on every copy sold?
Don't shatter the poor little 7gay's hopes like that, they're too pure for this world.
It doesnt need saving, the games are good.
What it needs to change is the industry so it rewards the good games and not the ones that get "marketed better".
It's SE, there is no way to save anything.
With pubes.
Final Fantasy is fine, same old boring crap it has always been.
Stop taking Sony bribes when your fanbase is universal. PS stopped being the JRPG console AGES ago.
>your fanbase is universal
Xbots don't buy games
neither do us peeyess Fahv homies. we play TOOKAY and our babehs play dem fortnite ya urrd me?

If it's trophy data then it overestimates because of used/lent physical copies
>mfw 2 mil might be an overestimation
if 7 remake was one fricking game instead of 3 games split over a decade it could have sold a trillion copies. Nobody is buying a frickin 3+ part installment remake
Especially not one where they make the story significantly dumber and fill the game with menial sidequests.
>it could have sold a trillion copies.
the og was outsold by palworld lol
outsold because of moron exclusivity and ANTImarketing from squeenix that "THIS IS ONLY PART 1" the binge generation is not doing a 3 parter
>moron is so mad at remake he didn't read what I posted
The OG was outsold by Palworld
and? Palworld is good. Final Fantasy isnt
read the conversation instead of being moronic.
Then enjoy waiting 20 years for the game
>b-b-b-but just make it more le....stylized.............and just le better graphics.............
Whats the point? just play the og by then.
Wasn't the 1st game in development for about that long already?
I can just assume that the existence of this faithful remake from the same company as FF7R and in the same month absolutely infuriated you to no end, then.
>i-it doesn't count! MY NARRATIVE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Don't most series installments tend to sell worse with each iteration? I know there's weird exceptions here and there, but that usually feels like the case. Stop being reasonable and definitely don't remind anyone that sony paid for most of the trilogy before a single sale was ever made.
Trophy data is about as reliable as SteamSpy
As everybody already said, stop making your shit exclusive. We aren't in the 360/PS3 era anymore where every gamer owns a console by default.
give it to yuji horii
Remaster actual FF7
You morons do realize ff7 rebirth reused remake's assets so it was likely cheap to make.
Not at all. The open world and the several hours of cutscenes, visuals, voice acting, and music makes this game's budget probably more than double than that of Remake's.

rebirth doesnt even use the same character faces. Clouds in game face is terrifying
Its the same model.
they fixed(see: ruined) it
bring back sakagucci
Gooch was barely involved after his initial script pitch.

13 2 and 3 were like 80% asset flips. There's a reason they were able to pump them out so quickly.

It's dead. They people who made interesting final fantasy games are either gone or have nobody around to check their creative narcissism.
I don't think this is that big of a deal because SE probably got some Sony money for timed exclusivity, but if you just wanna coom to numbers, they should have released these games on everything and then milk Sony or whoever the frick would be willing to play for exclusivity.

with a bullet
>2 MILLION FOR A PS5 EXCLUSIVE IS BAD
frick off Barry
It's 2 million concurrent players at the time of the article so it's probably closer to 10 million.
How do I know which fake report is real between this and the literal who Twitter guy?
Man i just seethe thinking about how they could have done a 1 to 1 copy with upgraded graphics and expanded the disc3 content which feels rushed and clearly was just tied up and shipped (BTW all ps1 FF suffer from the same issue) and it would have sold a bajillion copies.
wouldn't have sold as much

2 milion is a big number
Why would I want to do that? Quadruple the budget for part 3 and let the whole company collapse.
Don't worry Microsoft is trying to buy out SE.

How hard to we smack the people who want a IX remake, Anon-sensei
IXgays are irrelevant and so is their game because anyone with taste knows the best FF is, has always been, and will always be, VI.

who cares about sales? Gothic 2 is one of the most influential western rpgs and it sold barely 2 million in 20 years lol
>Gothic 2 is one of the most influential western rpgs
It ain't even an RPG lmfao
>How do you save Final Fantasy at this point?
I'd go back and actually remake FF7 like FF7 and not a moronic fanfic
make a good complete game with likable characters, an engaging storyline, decent gameplay, and a great soundtrack.
It's not worthy of saving.
No more games for five more years, that includes spinoffs. Focus on making an anime series. unironically this would save FF.
>a faithful remake would've been boring because it's the same thing
>and those of us who wanted something new with FF7 would've starved!
Watching Remakegays scramble and try to deny the game being a huge fricking flop has been very amusing to me
