I recommend getting Origin either way.
As for IX, gameplay wise it is at least as good as VIII when you get to the actual meat (i.e. dungeons or roaming a field) but the game gets bogged down by its formulaic structure (new chapter focused on another character -> do sidequest shit so you can unlock another part of the town to proceed -> dungeon, rinse and repeat)
He was a normal traveler who made the mistake of going to an island in order to avoid a war and was sucked into a story that started 800 years ago and was forced to resolve it.
Then after that, he did something even more stupid by running into another mystery and ended up becoming the first person in the world to get the title of adventurer.
His fate was pretty much sealed at that point. He's going to find adventure wherever he goes, no matter what.
He spent a fair chunk of celceta getting arrested, spent the entirety of monstrum nox in super jail, it would not surprise me if he has another adventure where he is in fricking atlantis after the biggest shipwreck to ever be recorded in history.
>another adventure where he is in fricking atlantis
That's Ys VI, anon.
Dawn of Ys (IV, Hudson) has a scene that's pretty conclusive to the series with his offspring listening to his stories after he settled at some point. It's not canon.

you shouldn't be allowed to rapidly spam flash guards in a row to refresh it, also you shouldn't be able to have both flash dodge and flash guard active at the same time. It's extremely easy to flash dodge and then run up to the attack and guard it
>you shouldn't be able to have both flash dodge and flash guard active at the same time
except party game bosses keep getting worse and not abusing both flash mechanics makes the fights drag regardless of difficulty

That was when they did a bunch of sequels for games/series demanded by fans, and the result was that they generally bombed despite Falcom really giving their best effort for each. And so they went back to Ys/Trails. Even unique games (Nayuta) were rebranded as such. Last unique one was a Xanadu revival that looks like an engine test for Trails of Cold Steel.
I bought and beat Celceta when IX mentioned that there was a carry over bonus.
It wasnt as good as Dawn of Ys, but it wasnt bad. What do people dislike about it?
>songs fricked up >uninteresting party members both in the history and gameplay >worst gameplay of all party games >worst Adol design >that ugly as bloom that plagued almost all vita games
>Started playing this last week >Found out it has my fetish fuel in the form of a base you slowly build up and fill with people over the course of the game
Seeing Ricotta and Sahad's interactions is also very endearing
He keeps crashing boats on purpose
with no survivors
2 isn't really that many
Should I get the VIII remaster when it comes out? Never played Ys, but I like FF and Tales.
Ys 8 is fantastic so yes
They took a lot of characteristics from trails with 8
Thanks
>Should I get the VIII remaster
>No release date
“Fall” 2022
>VIII remaster
Just play the game. What changes are they going to make in a 5 year old game with a remaster?
I don't even think it's a remaster, it's just a PS5 release isn't it?
My wife.
Great taste in waifu, shit off-model taste in fanart
Ok Felix
Those games are very low budget and very easy to make.
I remember when his adventures were like 5 hours max.
VIII explains that the creator goddess of the Ys world literally placed him as the main character so she can be entertained.
What a chad.
Monstrum Nox wasn't that bad
It really wasn't. Falcom would need to try really hard to make something trully bad like Celceta where they fricked up even the music.
>fricked up the music
It wasn't that bad for a game, but pretty bad for an Ys game. How did it even go so wrong?
The main sin Monstrum Nox committed was being after 8
The main sin Monstrum Nox committed was not having Yufa want to feed you her <spoiler>wiener</spoiler> milk
are you the guy who commissioned that one Raging Bull futa pic?
If so, based
There is no bad YS game.
Trails however is pure garbage
>memories of celceta
Is 9 as good as 8? I don't like the whole anime vampire looking shit. I was thinking of getting orgin instead.
I liked 8 slightly better than 9 mostly because 8 had much better world design.

ys viii is the only one that is 40 hours
ricotta best girl
How do we feel that the series is actually a recollection of Adol’s 100 known adventures?
Will we ever get a game about his “last” one?

shorts
He’s going to shoot some hoops

His games are better than any Zelda

Falcom used to make games other than Ys and Trails? What happened?
Not enough people bought them to justify the dev time.
Can't make other games when you're stuck in a schedule of annual releases of long games

It could be 5 hour adventure but he keeps losing all his legendary weapons.
I played 8 using only Laxia and 9 using only Krysha, these games are better when only one character can attack.
I didn't do that but I did use Hummel most.
because homosexualS will cry if a game is too short by their poorgay standards
Donbrothers also has a lot of parallels with Ys IX.
choose
There's only enough room for one blue-hair in Adol's life.

They ruined an already good OST, your party members are one dimensional and the ending was just plain bad.

I dont know, im currently playing celceta on my vita and im enjoying it a lot.
Most of the things people critique it for are not even true.
The controles are ass though
will ys 8 remastered be a free patch?
im finishing ys 9 right now and was going to play ys 8 through ps plus extra, but now i think i'll wait
There's a remaster?
