Games are entertainment media and are meant to be interactive. There's better storytelling media than vidya
I know it's bait for the culture war board tourists, but there's a reason why the only popular japanese games are games with no story, meaning or characterization and are pure gameplay, however good it may be (soulsborn, zelda, mario, etc...).
It's why a character like Astarion, Garrus or Kim Kitsuragi are years ahead of any eastern character ever done in terms of depth of character, and they're not even that complex or that well written, asia is just that far behind.
That's why I wish Japan would get the hint and just stop putting gameplay in their games and start focusing on narrative, feelings, and focusing on marginalized groups?
BG3 was great because of the diverse and interesting characters. Yes, I had to use cheat engine to basically skip the gameplay, but I don't care about that. I just like knowing that people like me are represented.
