Why does the quality dip at studiopolis and flying battery then go up until it dips again at Hydrocity and mirage saloon act 1 then go up then dip at titanic monarch?
Well, it was their first attempt at Sonic, and they were doing something completely different to most platformers at the time, they didn't quite know for sure what worked and what didn't to make a full video game with these ideas, so for a few levels they played it safe and relied on traditional platforming sensibilities, and as a traditional platformer level I'd say Marble Zone is good. Of course if you tackle it like you'd tackle most levels in Sonic 2, you're not going to have a good time, and it's a turn off for those that want speed, but it's not a bad level I think.
they changed the level order in the final release so its basically: >speed zone >shit linear zone >speed zone >shit linear zone >speed zone >shit linear zone
>How do we make Sega great again?
by letting them stay in the 90s and early 2000s, never pay any attention to their modern presence. been doing this for basically every company (except capcom when they announced DD2) and i couldnt care less.
I never understood the hate for marble zone. Pushing the block into the lava and seeing the lava shoot it into the air was cool as shit. Then again, I played this when it was new, so all that shit seemed amazing at that time.
if you really don't like Marble, just play the arcade version of Sonic 1 >no Marble >no Labyrinth (including Scrap Brain act 3) >you have a meaningful time limit per-stage instead of the lame 10 minute nonsense (this also means that getting hit is meaningful since that slows you down)
it's fun and I love it
felt good beating Spring Yard act 3 exactly as the timer hit 0:00 too
Well, it's simple, people here don't feel the same need to defend DKC1 or Mario 1 as much as Sonic 1, because neither of these games has as many theads saying that it was never good compared to Sonic 1, which has a thread like this every other day it seems.
>How does the quality dip so drastically at Marble Zone
It doesn't.
Green Hill = Labyrinth > Spring Yard > Scrap Brain > Star Light > a bag of trash > Marble
Because it was made by these people.
Very few of the people who made Sonic 1 currently work at SEGA
anon, almost nobody who worked on sonic 1 is still at SEGA
sonic's identity as a momentum based platformer hadn't been established yet so they thought they could get away with 3 more obstacle based zones
How does the quality dip so drastically the second you press Start?
Sky Chase is the only bad zone.
I'm just glad they haven't re-done chemical plant zone and casino night zone a million times anymore
chemical plant has been in generations, mania and forces and will be in frontiers
I was disapponted Robotnik didn't have a beard like on the cover.
Why does the quality dip at studiopolis and flying battery then go up until it dips again at Hydrocity and mirage saloon act 1 then go up then dip at titanic monarch?
Nah. The only bad level is this entire game is Hydrocity Act 1.
I legit forgot Hydrocity was in Mania. Aside from adding boats they really didn't do too much with it.

Sonic 1 and CD are basically the same. While 2 and 3 are the same.
glad im not the only one filtered by marble zone all these years, the rest of the game is stellar but marble zone is the wet fart zone
Marble zone aint that bad. Labrynth zone a shit except for the boss
>shitting on labyrinth zone
ishiggydig
I stand corrected
I like Marble Zone
they changed the level order in the final release so its basically:
>speed zone
>shit linear zone
>speed zone
>shit linear zone
>speed zone
>shit linear zone
Scrap Brain is kino.
so like, scrap brain is genuinely great and I'd have taken two more acts of that instead of having four fricking labyrinth acts
>frontiers looks like shit
>sega openly supporting child killing roasties
How do we make Sega great again?

Reddit millennial scientist anti-naturalistic frequency beta males hate this game because it contains platforming and they're Tailspedos.
Anyone who hates marble zone is just outing themselves as a moronic zoomie who can't into precision platforming and just wants to hold right to win
we went a solid thread without a single -oomer post, and you just had to go and do it
frick you, moron.
Labyrinth Zone is better, anon.
Game is older than you fool. Who gives a frick.

because labyrinth was meant to be the second zone
Why is Ganker suddenly acting like Sonic 1 is suddenly really good and that the complaints its gotten over the years arent justified?
You dont act this way over DKC1 or Mario 1 and even then id say Mario 1 holds up better than fricking Sonic 1.

Sonic 1 is the best of the original Sonic games
Marble Zone isn't that bad wtf
i always thought it was cool
Labyrinth > Marble
Scrap Brain > Marble
Collision Chaos > Marble
Wacky Workbench > Marble
Metallic Madness > Marble
Metropolis > Marble
Sandopolis > Marble
Shit taste
