Because it's not a perfect game. Many of its systems are outdated. But it still delivered what it promised: a space exploration sandbox for the fans looking for exactly that. Not sci fi fantasy. Not Skyrim in space. Exactly what Todd promised.
And they got it. In spades. Seething critics, fake fans, chinese shillbots, and Snoy smear campaigners be damned, they god damn delivered.
And modders in for the ride will enhance the rest from here on out. It's a smash success for what it set out to be. Nothing less. But still far more for those looking for it.
