Piratenigs getting filtered LONG before I got my legit copy ensured I didn't have any issue.
It has nothing to do with the bike nor pirated copies, I had a legit physical copy and I encountered the same issue just walking. You have to use the dpad (but not before walking all the way against the upper wall to correct your position on the grid)
What's the context here?
I don't remember if it had to do with the bike's gear, or using the stick over the d-pad. One of the two would make the bike move 2 tiles at once and make that harder than it needed to be.
I dont understand why the game behaves this way. Why does the character seem to stick to walls everywhere when turning (especially on a bike) but when it comes to that ledge it just wants to
automatically jump off before it even registers the tile

The second gear on the bike moves you 2 tiles at a time. I don't know about everyone else, but there's very little reason to ever be on the first gear so I always default to the fast mode.
