>Archeops
People only complain about Archeops's 3D model because of how the Pokemon is always flying in battles. Thankfully this isn't the case in Camp or when following the player (has an actual walking animation).
If it was in Scarlet & Violet then Archeops would have more than likely stood on its two feet in battles like a few other avian Pokemon do (and Tropius) where flying isn't required. Obviously there are exceptions like Dragonite and Mandibuzz which are always flying in battles.
You misinterpret me, I like Archeops' model and the animation really sells the idea of it being the FIRST flying type, jank and all. The Gen V sprite made it look a little too confident.
Problem with both Huntail and Gorebyss is that they are trade, item-required evolution of a rather obscure Pokemon that rarely even appears in the game. Clamperl also is available in RSE very late and overall is very meh even in comparison to lesser Water-types.
Gorebyss at least had a niche as silly Shell Smash Baton Passer when BP was still legal.
It doesn't help that for some reason weird evolution methods like this are very rare in Hoenn. When you play a Johto or Sinnoh game you know that a bunch of stuff is gonna require stones or trades to evolve, but in Hoenn almost everything evolves by level up
Even more obnoxious is they debuted as a ONE PER SAVE trade evolution, because in RSE you could only ever get one Tooth or one Scale.
This was remedied somewhat in Gen 4 onward, but for Gen 3 this made the Clamperl line one of the most miserable Pokemon to invest in.

Just give Clamperl the deep sea tooth and you’ve got basically the strongest Pokémon in the game
Sure it’s slow and frail, but it hits like a truck
Yes, but 3DS/Switch Era Pokemon was regularly clowned on for not depicting Blastoise using its cannons properly, which was regularly compared with Stadium's animations. SV is the first 3D mainline game to do so without any involvement from signature moves or special forms like Gigantamax.
The fricking colors, even more than the animations.
Look at them side by side in this thread, always washed out and dull looking.
SV fixed a fair amount of the animations but then made the colors even worse.
>intentionally comparing Gen 3 sprites (known for being washed out, but being fixed in subsequent gens and therefore not. criticism of sprites) to models that are much more saturated than they actually appeared in game

>it's supposed to be shit at flying even though no other media ever depicted that more the final form, as it was intended for Archen, which I believe USUM actually walked back on in the Pokedex entries
The colors aren't the problem in SV, it's the lighting they're using. They're too aggressive on the rim lighting which muddies the color palette. Mons look better in PLA for this reason. The textures are a nice change though for SV.
They look much better in SV
That gen 4 sprite sucks ass but so does the model. It goes too far into the dizziness making it look like it's drunk rather than dancing
>That gen 4 sprite
Gen 5 sprites for old mons are all reused gen 4 ones, gen 5 just split them into separate body parts to animate them
uh, didn't know that
Yes, it's a gen 4 sprite
That's the idea, it's a G-rated drunken fighter
It's not supposed to be drunk anon.
Neither are actual drunken fighters. They just play up the part to throw off their opponents with unpredictable movements.
Left looks objectively better
Wows it's almost like the screenshot is of s game on a handheld console
They aren't
2D entry animations > 2D idle animations (gen 5) > 3D shit
Yawngay is making false flagging threads now, fricking boringgggg
Crazy how much slower the one on the left is. The 3D games have so much bloat outside of PLA
Man, Typhlosion looks really bad in certain angles
The fire is literally coming out of his forehead in the right one
Porygon-Z, Archeops and Eelektross.

Especially when, competitively, it has nothing to be confident about.
Platinum and HGSS are the only games with two-frame entry animations for both front sprites and back sprites.
I'm so glad Game Freak is gradually fixing the ugly ass XY models. They're so shit I swear
I'd this thing literally anybody's favorite? This is the first time I think I've seen it ever be posted on vp

i'm sorry a mobileposter screenshot my shitpost thread and used it to make another genwar thread. i will take responsibility for this.
What an amazing design, both sprite and model look great.
Even pokemon stadium does 3d better than XY.
This
We shitpost about 3D but the Stadiums, ColoXD, PBR and PLA did better 3D than post gen 5 mainline games
I wonder if yawngay's readied up a new counter-webm featuring Blastoise in SV finally being allowed to use its cannons correctly.
That's been a thing since Gale of darkness

not really
>Actually displays an attack's animation when it misses
You just proved his point.
>the game being pointlessly slower is a good thing!
>he's already resorting to deflecting to stadium
I'm glad you've conceded that 3D>2D

I know, right?
Everyone knows the FRLG sprites were also washed out, that's an issue with that game
