How good is Panzer Dragoon Orta? I'm a sucker for ambitious games, and this one keeps getting pushed as a transcendental experience, but I don't really trust those overly obsessed types too much. Did it shoot for the stars?

It's like Panzer Dragoon/Zwei but longer with the technological advancements of the next gen. If you only care for the gameplay you'll probably like it. If you enjoyed the panzer dragoon story and art this is definitely weaker, its at that point in a franchise where the ideas were already explored to the fullest and the only remaining creative impetus is "how do we keep this going?" and so they start making wacky shit up, things get ridiculously convoluted and some of the essence gets lost in the process.
For me personally I find it worth playing but I don't hold it in the same regard as the original trilogy and certainly don't think of it as legit canon
If they could do it right, a new one would be nice. Like a panzer dragoon: Terra, full small planets to explore open world like with pds esque sensibilities. Completely customizable dragons, underwater, space, caves, etc... fast paced dog fight combat mixed with semi on rail levels. Anybody else want this?
>Anybody else want this?
Nope. The remake of the og was already disgusting enough no need to drag the name of the franchise through the mud any further. I don't see anything good coming out of sequel of any old property in 2024.
But by all means I hope future devs are able to look for games of the past, learn from them and use them as inspiration so new franchises emerge.
Most importantly Im thankful Saturn emulation is good enough for the trilogy to be preserved.
What's wrong with the remake?
what isnt?
Very helpful anon, thanks.
Iirc it had a bad launch, cant recall specifics but ive got iy and the hotd remake and didnt enjoy either. Hotd feels off, i have trouble aiming for example. Both are on sale regularly for about $7, if you wanna see for yourself.
bruh do you have eyes? don't tell me you looked at the trailer and your reaction was "yep, this looks appropriate"
cant wait til the era of shitty unreal remakes that disrespect the artistic intent of the original is over
>pissfilter
why
euros gonna euro
it would have been a shit remake (an oxymoron I know) regardless who made it
Yea I don't understand the remake. It feels soulless and it feels like it just took generic assets from Unity or something.
What's Leon Kennedy doing out there in the desert?
>If you enjoyed the panzer dragoon story and art this is definitely weaker
story maybe, but the art style in orta is great. sure, it has a slightly different colour palate from the saturn games but it's not that far removed.
I replayed it on XSX last year and the graphics and style still look incredible.
this has to be bait, saying 2=1.
for me it's saga>zwei>=orta>1>>>>mini
I thought the story was good.
It's a downgrade
2=1>mini>Saga>Orta
Its decent. Its not nearly as good as Zwei but I like it more than 1. Saga is an over rated pile of shit so I don't care.
Zwei is the only one of these games thats truly a must play. Maybe its just because I took a fat bong rip before playing it but it spoke to me. Starfox is better than all of them.
>Starfox is better than all of them.
I was with you until this part
Sega fricked up by making it a bill gates exclusive.
yeah wtf this game is peak weebshit it belongs on the playstation
Glad they didn't. Game looks amazing.
>I'm a sucker for ambitious games, and this one keeps getting pushed as a transcendental experience
Hmm? It's just a very good rail shooter. Though I admit the great music combined with the grand stages did make an impact...Has the best gameplay out of all Panzers. Can get kinda difficult some times and there are no annoying talking animals though.
>Orta
It's mid 🙂
