I don't think I heard about this, but I'm happy to know they're doing another Silent Hill. I never played through any of the games but the music is some of my favorite out of any video game franchise ever.
There's a movie based on Silent Hill 2 coming out, and the resurgence of SH games on the horizon are part of a cross-media campaign by Konami to revitalize the series.

Interesting. I'm glad they are looking to breathe new life into the franchise. I never played the games, but the music is spectacular, and I hope it will continue to impress.
I have absolutely zero faith in anything related to Konami these days, but I hope for the best.
If you've never played any Silent Hill games, I'd recommend playing 1-3. SH1 is easy to emulate, and SH2 and 3 have PC versions that can be pirated and modded to be playable on modern PCs without much hassle.

I did play a bit of Shatter Memories on Wii (I think that was the one) and it was really fun. The originals are appealing and I might play them one day. I'm a veteran of emulation so I'll do that, but I also might wait to see if they DO revitalize things and remake the first games entirely.
I have hope that Ryukishi07 will give us something interesting and the aesthetic shown in the trailer is nice. Those two things should lead to something worth playing.
At this point I'm convinced that whether or not this game is good is dependent on how much freedom Konami gives the development team. Typical Konami frickery is basically just sabotage.
You remember 10 years ago when they tried the exact same thing? Farm out a bunch of SH projects to D list western studios and bombard us with them all at once? And it was total shite? Downpour, the HD collection, Book of Memories and revelations 3D.
