I have been emulating older games all year on my new computer capable of running things at 4K and this is a bit of hyperbole. thusfar the best looking game by a longshot has been xenoblade x in 4K. from a stylistic standpoint, breath of fire 4 is also better than most of the PS2 games have been. again, stylistically, the best looking games on PS2 have been the mana khemia games because of the level of detail in the spritework and animation; most of the 3D games upscaled have poor color palettes or other glaring issues when displayed at 4K, the only one that looked close to a current gen game was rogue galaxy because, and I wasn't even aware of this before replaying it at 4K, the movies are not prerendered movie files, they are actually rendered in the game and thus are also upscaled and look amazing. radiata stories in particular looked pretty awful, the colors were so fricked up at higher resolution, many areas had an ugly green tint to them.
No, I think even the character models just have something more appealing about them. I've been playing Soulcalibur III and the models and facial animations just look better somehow, I'm not sure how to put it. Kind of like how the FFX faces looked way better than the remaster. I always attributed it to something to do with the Emotion Engine but I'm not sure if that's just blast-processing tier marketing garbage or if it actually lent to the unique look PS2 games have.
To further add to this, Taki has boob jiggle, thigh jiggle, and ass jiggle. In comparison, SC6 Taki barely jiggles at all. Tech as not only stagnated, it is going backwards.
they don't look better but a lot of them still look good. ps3 era games especially benefit from being boosted to higher res and having 60fps, without even having other changes to the graphics made
Because games back then had to rely on art direction to carry the visuals and couldn't use realistic graphics as a crutch. So taking a game from that era and bringing it up to a modern resolution just exposes how much an afterthought art direction has become since the end of the 6th generation.

[This thread has been pruned or deleted.]
What is the difference between pruned and deleted?
Pruned means it was a thread full of SOUL
Deleted means it was soulless and had to go
Actual answer:
Pruned means it was pushed off the board from traffic.
Deleted means someone actively deleted it on purpose.
>source: my ass
the source is not being a newbie
they don't
Because they have no soulless gimmicks like volumetric fog and other ugly bullshit that's only purpose is to sell new consoles and GPUs.
Just say chudstation

>there are less polygons in this scene than there are on Nathan Drake
And 100x more soul
its at least a 1000x more soul
true
Games with a actual art style will age better than games attempting realism
What an old and tired reddit take, Gran Turismo 4 aged just fine
Might be true for Baldur's Gate.
Lmao.
That was my last troll for today. I will now enjoy my 20 minute break.
Why do twittards say take instead of opinion?
