is this one of those games where you can instantly and correctly judge someone's taste in vidya based on if they love it or not? skyrim is such a trash game and oblivion wasn't any better and no I haven't played morrowind
I've bought Skyrim about 5 times now (PS3, Xbox360, PS4, Xbox1, Switch). I play it probably at least once a month but mostly once a week. What I do is I make a character and make up a fake life story and personality and RP as that character within Skyrim. Like say an Orc magic enthusiast or a Wood Elf Thief trying to make a fresh start. I go on like this until I feel I've exhausted the characters story or the save gets corrupted. I've done this with basically every race, male and female, and every possible occupation and background (except for High Elfs). It's by far my most played game and my favorite game. I tried Fallout 4 and it was good but not the same, tried Oblivion and didn't care for it. It's only Skyrim. The only reason I never bought it on Steam is because I'm still using the $80 laptop I got in high school from the early 2010s and it can't play YT videos without freezing so I figure Steam is a bit much for it.
Its pretty bad if you played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games. However if it was your introduction to the series I can easily see why many people would be impressed. But the game needs mods and not just a few, but a ton to make it great.
The answer is simple: It's the newest Elder Scrolls and unlike prior titles, had an absolutely gargantuan advertising budget and all the "new to games" gamers wanted something cool to play.
Everybody and their dog was playing this game when it came out. Morrowind was a big deal, and then Oblivion brought even more people in. And then Fallout 3. Bethesda was printing money. Game's been out long enough now that people are legitimately nostalgic for it, something which I'm sure has encouraged a lot of people to continue to buy it since then.
funny thing is, i thought skyrim was shit when it came out, yet i appreciate it more and more as i get older
i guess a lot of the issues that triggered me as an edgy and angsty teenager don't bother me as much anymore
10 years ago i would've said morrowind > oblivion > skyrim
now i'd say skyrim is the best one without hesitation, heh
I like the environments, atmosphere, music, and actually gameplay/combat, don't particularly care about some of aesthetics, and story + rpg mechanics are weak at times. Also, I frankly need at least some utility mods like SkyUI.
Really, if somebody made notSkyrim but with a different sort of story and different aesthetics (more realism and weapons and armor, think Bannerlord maybe) then it would very welcome.
Because its a good game and unique experience only comparable to other Bethesda games. On its own I would rate it a solid 8/10, but with mods that climbs to a 10/10. I honestly believe a lot of the haters are lower IQ, whereas fans tend to be higher IQ. Even though the writing and immersion might have declined compared to past entries in the series the quality of life changes, technological improvements, and some gameplay improvements off set a lot of that. I am a bigger fan of Oblivions base game, but Skyrims modding community is much larger and with mods it surpasses Oblivion and Morrowind in everything but writing.
To be quite frank, I am tired of even entertaining morons that like bethesda games, all of them, and if you like this trash I don't want to talk to you.
peer-pressure purchases
and people enslaved to their flesh
Mods.
There's literally nothing wrong with this thread you idiots. What rules is it breaking?

do you use mods? I can't stand to play vanilla Skyrim for any length of time
Not mods but I did get DLC
>buying skyrim in consoles
>buying skyrim in consoles multiple times
Holy fricking frick
so you’re the reason why they released 5 separate editions of the game
Skyrim being one of the best games of all time will do that

I have 1000+ active plugins that's how. Without mods this game is mediocre at best.
But enough about New Vegas
MODS
mods=gods
Sex mods which are broken these days due to incompajshsjsjsj
Yeah
Why does no other game get sex mods like skyrim?
bro, you wickedwhims?
sex mods
Mods and games just got worse.
Remasters/remakes are popular for a reason.

Infinite gameplay with mods
