How is this game so fricking cheaply made? Isn't SQE ashamed, having released this at full price?
The Nibelheim part, which is supposed to be the highlight of the game, was also shoddy and poorly directed. Even the music is completely generic. What a disappointment. Zack was a pretty decent protagonist too.

Got the platinum trophy in this game just yesterday. It was a decent remaster. Keep in mind that this was originally a PSP game.

i like how zack was portrayed in the flashback of ff7 original. talking to himself to cloud about his future only to die an unheroic death to some peon shows how human his capabilities were. and then crisis core happened. WE DBZ NOW.
apart from the VA the remake is superior
Honestly I didn't mind the voice acting and thought it was nice they voiced everything in remaster and not just the major cutscenes like in PSP. But definitely prefer the old VA for Zack and maybe Sephiroth some classic deliveries there.

nuSephiroth sounds better compared to Remake, and what little we got from Rebirth sounds good.

Square just Ed wanted some bonus money and need to get more people to care about Zack before rebirth comes out. Plus makes new assets for a psp remake would be dumb.(still would have liked a jump button instead of having to get a materia for that). The reusing of the old CGI cutscenes(with A.I. upscaling or some type of upscaling) felt pretty jarring.

Yeah I think they remix some of the music(I could be wrong and the original OST might have just been a tiny bit better)

Yeah crisis core has always been "YOU LIKE ZACK, HE'S MORE ZACK". Game could have done more with the Wutai War plot and less with the genesis stuff(I assume genesis and Angeal was shoved in dude to genesis being shoved in at the end of Dirge of Cerberus).
Aside from the recast voice acting it's an excellent remaster of a mediocre handheld game that it is at heart.
If they wanted to actually make it good it would've required a miracle and a full remake and Square doesn't have a good track record for either.

I like the general silliness and minigames that remind me of the original FF7. Everything to do with Genesis felt tryhard and sucked dicks, though.
Even with all its faults, it does a better job at being FF than XVI, that's for sure. At least this one's a video game, and materias are always fun.
On paper, Genesis is the most level headed character in the game. He learns that he's a flawed experiment and defects while trying to cure himself of space aids, eventually succeeding.
I know that it doesn't come off that way in execution, but it's still worth pointing out.
