yeah, it's not the right word, since zuck's money is ostensibly clean
in MOTHEPЛAHD it's called "пилить бюджeт", where some third party firm (and thus its employees) is funnelled obscene amounts of allocated (usually by the government) budget yet does miniscule work

The only people defending the Meta shitshow is a certain minority of technically inept people with an interest in gadgets who easily become obsessed with whatever is being marketed right now, the kind of people who got seriously into NFTs. This crap is universally laughed at. I have no idea where you have gotten the impression that liberals would have any special affinity for this.

just because a technology is universally laughed at does not mean it won't turn around the future. you might not be wrong in that case, or in most cases even but your resasoning is that of a sheep.

yeah, metaverse is more to sell an idea than the concept itself. Same with Stadia.

Personally I just think the concept is fricked. The only people who would indulge in this are hyper-autistic Second Life players and chatroom ERP-ers. The Second Life autists won't care because they've pored too much time, money and hours into SL. ERP-ers won't care because no one will feel comfortable ERP'ing degenerate shit knowing that Zuk-zuk is watching every action taken.
The only ones you have left are FOMO-gays who will leave the product in a month and boomers who don't know better (which is like 90% of the userbase of Facebook right now).
Even if they somehow manage to appeal to the latter it will at best be seen as a fun little gimmick.
