Only downside to GM is that you don't learn anything that can be applied to other engines if you do ever want to move to 3D. But yeah, it's good and gets a bad wrap despite having tons of massively successful games made using it.
GameMaker is a massive joke of an engine that does pretty much everything wrong and teaches you the absolute worst ways to do anything but it still has this bizarre fanbase of people who never actually tried making a game in something better, the difference is night and day and it doesn't come even remotely close. GM is closer to RPG Maker in terms of capabilities meaning that once you get to anything outside the basics you will be constantly fighting the engine and will suffer.
>starts engine war >gets BTFO immediately >AAAHHH YOU'RE COPING YOU'RE ENGINE WARRING
It's ok if you're stuck, anon. Here, I'll give you one for free: Cruelty Squad. You only need to think of 4 more Godot games!
Yeah why would that guy start an enginewar by bringing up GM out of nowhere?
I'll do you one better and name 5 successful games made with GameMaker: >Hotline Miami >Undertale >Katana Zero >Va11 Hall-A >Nuclear Throne
Go ahead, give me 5 Godot games with the same level of success.
Damn it only took you a single reply to instantly try to cope your way out. It's also pretty obvious that it's always only one guy trying to shill shitmaker using the exact same nonarguments, worse than consolewar homosexuals.

Is this a joke or are you just this ignorant? GML is an order of magnitude slower than any sane language and rendering is also extremely inefficient and shits itself very easily at scale.
I'm trying to do something really small everyday so I can achieve consistency and avoid burning out. I don't care what's gonna come out, my focus is finishing something first.
nobody will play your trash game, stop wasting your time
unless your game is 3D, GameMaker is better

GM is objectively worse in literally every single aspect, name any one thing and I'll tell you exactly why.

Gamemaker is like 15 years older than Godot
GM has better performance and smaller game file size than literally every other engine
I doubt the game engine itself is lighter than Godot

gm has a better pricing scheme if you ever plan to publish on consoles
if you care about 2D maybe but I have bigger plans and a few thousands are nothing in the long run if the game is successful
>if
that's a big if
Actually pretty good. People keep asking me to put NTR in my game and I keep telling them to frick off.
NTR?
non-tuckable rearwiener

Rest of the tech industry refuses to hire me or my wife, so we're just going to hire ourselves and make a game together.
It’s going good. Not using your homosexual engine, though.
>She can't think of single successful Godot games
Godotsisters... is it really that bad?
Starting today I'm officially a NEET for two weeks so I'm gonna start working on my game 8 hours a day, wish me luck
gl

Gonna do a fan-game and then make an actual game.
