Modern gaming is dead to me and I don't even care if "w*man ugly", it's because of this graphics-movie bullshit that's been growing since the mid-7th and 8th gen. The games make you look cool but don't let you BE cool. Frick The Last of Us and frick the morons who think a "story" makes a game instead of interactivity

I haven't, got turned off by the constant crouch-walk and scripted sequences I saw on YouTube gameplays. Are the fights at least as good as something like Watch Dogs 2 on hard? Like you have to position yourself properly and use some creative strategies.

no, you can just spam dodge i-frames and melee everything, don't even need to use guns.

What? Don't you look up gameplays before buying something, Anon? Yes YouTubers are fricking moronic but you should go assuming that anyway. You can still see what the game's about even when an idiot's playing it.

You watched a video by someone whos job it is to make videos as long as possible to wring out as much money as possible and thought it represented the game accurately. The only people who think this is a valid way to see how games play are people who don't play games. Go back to YouTube and stay there. We don't want you here.

I think it's valid enough if I can see that the game doesn't interrupt you every 5 seconds for cutscenes and the gameplay looks well designed enough. Again, I said that I go thinking a moron's playing the game and that's enough for me to judge if it's worth a try. I play games so I do know how it will (kinda) play out by looking at it. Unfortunately YouTubers and maybe Streamers are the best way to judge without buying since games don't have demos anymore.

                >I think it's valid enough
You don't sound remotely convinced of your own view. You know watching pewdiepie run against a wall for 14 minutes in amnesia isn't representative of the game. Only real way to experience a game is to play it.

                Anonymous

That's the point, the "valid enough" is to filter out crap and stuff I definitely won't like.

I don't hate it. There are still phenomenal indies, AAs, and jap games coming out all the time. Literally just stop playing western AAA slop. The gaming scene is in an excellent place right now, and it's easier than ever to find the good shit. If you're feeling miserable looking at the state of things right now, then I don't really know what else to tell you. Stop being a paypig, stop playing games from the same dogshit companies and expecting them to somehow not be dogshit.

Stop playing AAA games expecting anything other than stale uninspired trash with terrible writing and agenda pushing.

Play indie games, those have more replayability and have soul to them, they're smaller in scale sure but more fun nonetheless.

I don't hate modern gaming. Hate isn't the opposite of love. I've grown indifferent. People talk about having trouble playing for more than an hour, often I find myself in regards to any title failing to even make it beyond the opening titles before I've had enough. Games just don't engage me as they used to and it's got nothing to do with depression. Live a very happy life otherwise. Games are just a waste of time. I just grew bored of developers wanking off on these little ego trips we call "games".

Agree with what you said but i think the problem is that AAA games just lack soul, they feel corporate, it's hard to describe what i mean but it's the best word to describe it.

I feel genuine sorrow for anyone who spends time playing AAA slop. The gaming medium has developed to a point where you have exceptionally unique and experimental games that try something interesting.
There isn't a single AAA game that isn't a boring, safe, copy and paste of something interesting.

I'm a retro game fan as well as a general video game enthusiast. The number of titles released from 1981-2010 that I haven't played could probably last me a lifetime. That said it's not so much I hate modern games but I hate modern culture trends, and because games are so similar to movie productions just with more shafting to coders and crunch time bullshit there feels like the filth of normie culture has infected the gaming spaces inside and out. Gameplay is less of an emphisis than it was yesterday because too much attention is given to characters or story, studio composer scores have to be written by some big name like Hans Zimmer, voice actors steal media coverage just as movie stars do. It's all so tiring and it takes front stage when focusing on gameplay and fsir challenge being there. The way I see it AAA games today are
    >movie games with movie casts
    >MOBA ASSFSGGOTS, gachas, or some other form of grindfest where repetitive gameplay and collecting skins from lootboxes or microtransactions are some of thr main appeal
    >games made to be games but end up toddler-tier too easy (theres a difference between a QoL improvement like getting rid of a life system vs the game offering to hold your hand if you die too many times)
Sure there are some challenges and there are some soulful games that try to play fun first, but those are few and far between.
