How the frick do you jumpscare your players?
Like, physically, how?
Randomly shout. It's not scary, just starting and annoying just like a real jumoscare.
Point an unloaded pistol at them
OP doesn't want an answer, he just wants (you)'s
>How the frick do you jumpscare your players?
>Like, physically, how?
>Power "mysteriously" goes out and the room is plunged into darkness
>"Hang on guys I've got my phone right here"
>friend who was hiding in the closet with a mask comes out just in time to be briefly seen
>power comes back on, stranger is gone
Pneumatic piston under the table that launches everything into the air.
I did it once
>back in the day
>playing In Nomine (demons and angels) with the boys
>we had a gaming hangout where people would drop in and play whatever and hang out
>sometimes my friend would sit and listen to us RP, everyone was cool with it
>this time I get him to hide in a closet in the room
>about 2h in the players have a seance
>live candles, moody music on the boombox, lights off
>I do creepy voices sometimes and the players were prepared for it
>summon demon
>I blow out the candles
>demonic voice is heard in the pitch darkness
>wait, it’s coming from behind me?
>my friend finally exits the cupboard and seemingly materializes as a shadowy figure behind me as I chant
>players jump but stay in character and makes a pact with the demon
>it is still pitch black
>the pact is sealed and my friend lights a match in front of his face as he laughs
>he had a pretty elaborate latex demon mask on, classic horned devil
>players flee the room
We had an intermission and when the players returned after a minute, my friend had removed the mask and sat grinning in the now lit room
A jumpscare in horror rpg is a great way to release built up tension.
Ebin
>rocks fall, you die
Immediately
>I keep waiting for the gif to animate with the jumpscare
>It doesn't, it's static gif
frick you
If playing with a bunch of ancient grognards with dodgy tickers, never. Teens are good though, those frickers need waking up occasionally.
>dodgy tickers
what manner of idiotic british colloquialism is this
We say both of those things where I live in Colorado.
They're both a little old-fashioned, but not weird.
>OP has no fricking clue how TTRPGs are even played
